Switch in Chapter 43

... Dickinson pov… I didn't know what to do or where to go. All I could do was keep driving and hope that somehow, everything would turn out alright. I turned a corner, my mind racing as I tried to come up with a plan. I knew Emile's best friend, Erick, would be able to help. I pulled up to his house, my tires screeching as I came to a stop. I rushed to his front door, pounding on it frantically. Erick answered, looking surprised to see me. "Dickinson, what's wrong?" he asked. "It's Emile," I said, my voice shaking. "She's been kidnapped and I just paid the ransom, but she's not at the designated spot." Erick's expression turned to one of concern. "What do you mean she's been kidnapped? How did this happen?" I quickly filled him in on the details, explaining how I had received the call and how I had rushed to drop off the money. Erick listened, his face growing more and more serious as I spoke. "Don't worry, we'll find her," Erick said, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Let's call her mother, maybe she knows something." "We have to do something," I said, feeling a sense of desperation starting to take over. "We can't just sit here and do nothing." Erick nodded, his expression gloomy. "I'll call the police, they'll know what to do." "Let's call her mum first, you took her number that day right?" I asked him. His expression darkened and his mouth seemed to twitch. "Alright?" He ished and took his phone out. He dialed a number and placed the phone on the table and the beeping sounds of it connecting echoed in the room. Beep! "Hello, who am I speaking to?" A female voice sounded, Emile's mom! I gulped this woman wasn't one to be trifled with. "Hello this is Erick," I could feel the anxiety in Erick's voice as he spoke to her. "Mrs. Williams, have you seen Emile? We're all very worried about her," he said. There was a pause on the other end of the line before Emile's mother spoke, her voice filled with fear and concern. "No, I haven't seen her. I've been trying to call her but her phone is switched off. I have no idea where she could be," she replied. I felt a sense of despair wash over me as I listened to the conversation. Emile's mother's words only confirmed my worst fears. If she didn't know where Emile was, then who did? Erick ended the call and turned to me, his expression filled with concern. "We need to call the police," he said. "They need to know what's going on and start a search for Emile". I couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible had happened to her. All I could do was wait and hope for the best. I just wanted her back safe and sound, no matter what it took. ….Emile POV… I stepped out of the old warehouse, my heart racing with a mixture of fear and relief. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the rundown building. The front door had been left ajar and I could see piles of discarded boxes and old machinery scattered throughout the space, creating a maze of obstacles to navigate through. The air was thick with the smell of mold and decay, and I could hear the sound of rats scurrying around in the background. I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. I had been held captive for what felt like an eternity. I looked around, trying to get my bearings. The warehouse was located in an abandoned industrial area, and the surrounding streets were deserted. I knew I had to find a way to contact someone, anyone, who could help me. I started to walk, my legs feeling weak and unsteady beneath me. I had been tied up for so long that my muscles had grown stiff and sore. I tried to ignore the pain and focus on putting one foot in front of the other. As I walked, I couldn't help but think back to the moment when I was first taken. It all happened so fast, one moment I was in the taxi, the next, I was being thrown into a van and a bag was put over my head. I still couldn't understand why they had targeted me. The ransom came second when their first plan didn't work out for some reasons. I had to stop by somewhere and the only place that was nnearest to this place was club where I worked before. I had promised myself not to go back there anymore but I knew only my former boss could help me get a place to rest at this moment. As I walked, to road I flagged down a taxi and hopped in. I was handed my handbag andd I had with me some cash which I paid the cab driver. I walked towards the club, my heart heavy with fear and uncertainty. I had no idea what my next move should be, but I knew I needed a place to rest and gather my thoughts. The club was where I worked, and I knew my boss would be there. I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as I approached the entrance. As I entered, my boss looked up, surprised to see me. "Emile, what are you doing here? I thought you were on vacation," he said, a look of concern on his face. I hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Somethings came up," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I just need a place to rest for the night." My boss looked at me, shocked and saddened. "Of course, anything for you," he said, gesturing towards the back of the club. "I'll give you a room and you can stay here as long as you need." I nodded, grateful for his kindness. "Thank you," I said, my voice filled with emotion. "You owe me one," he said with a smile. I nodded and followed him to the room he had given me. As I sat on the bed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of overwhelming exhaustion wash over me. I had been through so much in the past few days, and I knew I needed to rest. As I lay there, I couldn't help but think of my next move. I knew I needed to talk to someone, and my best friend, Erick, came to mind. He would be able to help me, and give me some much-needed advice. I decided to go to his house the following morning. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh, trying to push away the thoughts that were swirling in my head. I sat on the bed and tried to process everything that had just happened. My mind was a jumbled mess, and I didn't know where to go or what to do next. I began to debate where is should go next. My mom and Erick must be worried sick about me. Though my mom had told me to leave I knew that she would be so worried and will do anything to see me despite our misunderstanding. Finally, I decided to go to my best friend Erick's house. I knew he would be able to give me some good advice and support. I gathered my things and left the club, my mind set on seeing Erick. As I headed for his house in a cab, I felt a mix of emotions. I was scared and unsure of what the future held, but I was also determined to move forward and put this traumatic experience behind me. When I arrived at Erick's house, he was shocked to see me. "Emile, what's going on? I thought you were kidnapped," he exclaimed as he hugged me tightly. "Emile, what's going on? I thought you were kidnapped," Erick exclaimed as he hugged me tightly. "I was," I replied, my voice shaking. "I was coming back from the airport and these guys just snatched me from a taxi. They put a bag over my head and took me away. I had no idea where they were taking me or what they wanted." "Oh my God," Erick said, his expression one of shock and concern. "Did they hurt you? Are you okay?" "I'm fine," I said, trying to steady my voice. "They didn't hurt me, but they did demand a ransom from Dickinson. Thankfully, they paid and I was able to escape." "I can't believe this," Erick said, pacing back and forth. "Do you have any idea who these people were or why they targeted you?" "No," I replied, shaking my head. "I have no idea. They never told me anything. They just kept me in some sort of a basement and wouldn't let me go until the ransom was paid. As I sat on Erick's couch, trying to process everything that had happened, he turned to me with a look of concern on his face. "Emile, Dickinson came looking for you," he said. "He was worried sick when you didn't show up at the meeting point."
