Switch in Chapter 40

...Henry pov… As I walked out of Emile's cell thinking of a plan I wanted to help her escape tonight, my plan was to carry out the escape when I was going to get the plates. "Henry," A member of the gang, walked up to me. "The boss said you should go and pick the package downtown. Here is the address." He said handing me a paper. "But… I am on my shift and I am not yet done with what I am doing. I have to check on her, you know." I said. "Don't worry someone is coming to.take your place. " He said as he walked away. I couldn't shake off the feeling of frustration and disappointment. I had already told Emile I would be back and she was probably expecting me. I had already heard a rumor yesterday that the person that hired them to kidnap Emile had not said anything and has not been reached since the kidnap so I had to get her out quickly. This gang retards were cruel and could kill her. I walked out of the building defeated, after picking up the package. I decided to go to the bar to clear my head. As I walked in, I ordered a drink and sat down at the bar. I couldn't help but think about all the prisoners, especially Emily, and how much I wanted to help her escape. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I should be doing more, that there was more I could do to help her. As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I saw a familiar face walk in, Dickinson. He walked up to me and sat down next to me. "Hey, Henry, what's up?" he asked, a hint of a smile on his face. "Not much, just finished my shift," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. "Rough day?" he asked, his expression filled with concern. "You could say that," I replied, feeling the weight of my frustration and disappointment. Dickinson, sensing my mood, suggested we have a drink together, to take my mind off things. I thought about it for a moment and decided it couldn't hurt. We ordered a round of drinks and started chatting, and before I knew it, we had finished a couple of rounds and were quite drunk. As the night went on, Dickinson and I talked about our work, Emile was a prisoner, and there was no chance of us being together. But I couldn't shake off the feeling that I had grown to care for her deeply. I couldn't just forget about her and move on. "I know you're right, Dickinson," I said, my voice filled with sadness. "But it's not that simple. I can't just forget about her and move on." Dickinson nodded, understanding the complexity of my feelings. He understood what it's like to feel helpless to someone you care for deeply. "I know, Henry. It's not easy. My fiancee is missing, and it's been hard to move on," he said, his voice filled with sadness. We both sat there in silence, lost in our own thoughts and regrets. We both knew that life wasn't easy and it's never simple. We finished our drinks in silence, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of hopelessness wash over me. I knew that I had to move on and enjoy my life, but it was going to be hard to forget about Emile and the connection we had. I stood up and downed my all the contents of the glass. "That's it." I sighed. "Already going?" Dickinson as he reeled on his chair his cheeks slightly flushed red. "Yes," I said pushing the chair back. This is my complimentary card he said as he pulled out a card from his wallet. You are free to call me. He smiled at me as.i took the card. What is the name of your fiancee and since when has she been missing? I asked as I looked at the card. Her name is Emile and she has been missing for five days. The last time I saw her was when she got Inna taxi and since then no one had seen her, he said as he lowered his eyes and his face was filled with worry. My eyes widened and my mouth slowly opened but I snapped it quickly before he noticed. "Oh Emile, nice name." I said nodding. "Emile...Emile… could it be the same Emile?' I thought. He chuckled a little, "yes it is" He said as he took down another glass. I turned my back and hung my shoulders as I stepped out of the bar. It is actually the same Emile was captured days ago and she was nabbed from. taxinjust like his descriptions and I knew that. I hung my head as I headed home. I felt really bad, I had involved myself with this deadly gang sonos to make quick money to pay my debt. I had borrowed a huge sum of.money to treat my mother who fell sick a month ago and she is still in the hospital. I Was ready to spend more money to get us out of the coma. As I walked through my front door, I couldn't shake off the feeling of exhaustion. It had been a long day, and all I wanted to do was rest. I had left my former home that I lived in with my mother when I couldn't pay the rent due to my mother's situation but I had to pack out and settle for a lesser one to meet up. I took off my jackets but as I was about to lay down, there was a sudden knock on my door. I hesitated for a moment before getting up to answer it. As I opened the door, I was met with the sight of a group of rough-looking men. Their leader, a man I recognized as one of my debtors, pushed me inside and punched me in the face. I stumbled backwards, my head spinning with pain. "You know why we're here, Henry," the leader of the group sneered, his face twisted with anger. "You owe us money, and we want it now." I felt a surge of fear wash over me as I looked into their eyes. I knew that these men were dangerous, and I was in a lot of trouble. "Please, give me more time. I promise I'll pay you back," I begged, my voice trembling with fear. But the leader of the group just laughed, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "Time's up, Henry. You had your chance," he said, his voice cold and menacing. The group of men began to beat me, their fists raining down on me mercilessly. I couldn't do anything but take the beating and beg for them to stop. Finally, they tired of hitting me and left me on the floor, bruised and bloodied. **** "Remember, Henry, we'll be back for our money," the leader of the group said, his voice filled with a warning. "And next time, it won't be so easy." As they left, I lay there on the floor, my body aching with pain. I knew that I had to find a way to pay them back, or they would come after me again, and next time, it wouldn't be just a beating. I had to find a way to get their money for them. ****** At this moment something fell out of my pocket shaking me out from my memories. I bent down to pick it up and suddenly i got an idea. ******************* At the warehouse the gang boss was not around nao I still held the package. "You are up to serving the hostage," a gang member told me. I enter the cell and lower my head as I face Emile. She looks up at me with a mix of hope and fear in her eyes. I can tell she's expecting me to tell her that the escape plan is going as promised and that I'm going to get her out of here. But I can't bring myself to give her false hope. "I'm sorry Emile, there's a problem," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. She looks at me, her expression turning to one of shock. "What do you mean? You said you would get me out of here and I was waiting for you to come back yesterday but someone came for the plates. I shake my head, unable to look her in the eye. "I know, and I wish I could. But something came up that I can't control, 8 was sent on an errand and another person was assigned to watch you. I'm so sorry." "I knew it was too good to be true", she said. ' I looked at her as I remember the sadness on Dickinson's face, so this is the Emile he is so bothered about' I sighed. She was already in love with another person and my heart tightened. "I can't really help now since they have decided to do this in shifts but I have another plan", I said as I looked at her. She watches me closely, her face contorting with a mix of anger and disappointment. "You promised me," she says, her voice barely audible.
