The days flew by and already the first week in my new pack was over. In the meantime I was shopping in town with Luna and the woman from Beta, which was really new to me. So many people in one place and then all these clothes in the mall. Still, it was really a lot of fun. I loved such normality. And together with Aurelia, who I really liked, it was even more fun.
This was all new to me, having lived in the woods all my life. Of course I've been to a city from time to time, but I've never been shopping. What can I say, it was just a great experience, which I definitely want to repeat more often, as long as Steven pays...
Oh, and besides, the Alpha officially accepted me into the pack. Nevertheless, I am still looked at askance by many pack members. Luna Aurelia told me that that's how she was looked at since she's human. That made her even more likeable to me. We would both become really good friends.
"Would you rather wear the blue dress or the red dress for your party?" Aurelia asked me suddenly. There would be a party tonight where I would be officially welcomed into the pack. The Alpha already accepted me, but the party is for all other pack members to get to know me better.
To be honest, I don't want to do that at all. I'm used to being a loner, so I don't really like having so many other wolves around. But today it had to be. And who knows, maybe I'll get along with even more other people.
"The red one," I replied to the Luna. The dress was short with a boat neckline, yet it was simple and had no glitter to unnecessarily draw attention to me. It was just perfect for today's occasion.Aurelia handed me the dress and I went to the bathroom to quickly change. As soon as I got the dress on, I stepped back out into the room, and based on Aurelia's reaction, I either looked pretty good or downright awful.
"The dress suits you," she said after closing her mouth again and then giving me a friendly smile.
"Thanks," I said a little shyly and then stood in front of the mirror.
My mouth fell open in amazement. Yes, the dress was really beautiful. I've never worn a dress like this before. For the first time in my life I felt like a real princess. It was breathtaking.
Not feeling like doing my hazel hair, I just combed it through once and then draped it over my shoulders.
"Steven won't get over it when he sees you," added the Luna. "Come on, he'll be waiting for you."
And she grabbed my arm and pulled me out of Steven and my room. Shortly thereafter we arrived at the building for such occasions. It was a large ballroom, where I assumed that the so-called mate balls also take place here. I myself have never been to such a ball. How could I? As a rogue, I would have died faster than I can see. But I'm not anymore. Finally I belong to a real pack, with a real alpha and a real beta, with guards and with warriors. Not a pack provisionally led by a run-of-the-mill outcast wolf. I'm finally where I've always wanted to be.
Speaking of brother, I was starting to miss him. He was just like me. It wasn't his fault he was born a packless. He too would have deserved to be included in a pack. That reminds me of his yellow eyes, which he had when he attacked me. There's something wrong with him and I don't know what, but the way my brother's been acting lately, he never was.
Is it selfish of me to just leave him there? Maybe I could have helped him. Was able to talk to him, but instead I just ran off to my mate. And I left him there with Devin, Mara and the others.
I immediately felt guilty. Why was I such a stupid sister? I didn't even think of him. And now? Now I'm going to a party that's being celebrated in my honor and he's out there somewhere. Maybe he misses me too?
"What are you thinking about?" Aurelia nudged me sideways, studying my face as if she could read it. After I didn't answer, she tried to distract it. "Come on! This is your party, after all." She stepped in front of me and pushed open the doors to the hall.
Just as I was about to go after her, someone connected to me in the Mindlink: “Silva? We need to talk. Come into the forest!" , I heard my brother's voice. Great, when one speaks of the devil, or rather thinks of him... But isn't that exactly what I wanted? Talking to him and looking at him was what he has to do with him maybe able to help?
I thought for a moment if it really was a good idea, but then the guilt came back to me. So instead of going into the hall, I walked past the hall and ran into the forest. I would just talk to him for a minute and then I'll go back to Steven. Hopefully he'll be happy to see me in this dress.
It didn't take long before I picked up Jaxon's trail, which I followed. The quicker I talk to him, the quicker I can go back. I wasn't afraid of him either, after all he's my brother. Of course he hurt me before, but then he lost his control. He sounded much more composed this time.
After a few minutes I saw before me the great silver wolf, with the black spot on its forehead, which now had yellow eyes in its wolf form. 'What did he do?' I was still thinking.
"Jaxon?" I asked, even though I knew it was my brother.
"We have to talk..." he then started in the Mindlink and I just nodded in response. "Silva, you absolutely have to come back to us. I know you have your mate here, but we need you-..."
"Because Devin wants to father puppies with me or what?"
"What? No!!! All herds face a great danger and you are only safe with us. Devin can protect you." I'm not going to fall for that. Even if I did, there's no one safer with me than my mate.
“I DO NOT CARE WHAT DEVIN CAN DO. HE WANTED TO RAPE ME AND YOU WOULD ALLOWED IT!!! He..." The pent-up anger turned to sadness and I started to sob. My brother would have just looked the other way. How could he? All of what I was thinking about, all of the guilt was gone. Jaxon was in one with Devin Blanket He wanted to hurt me and that was the right thing to do to go to my mate.
"Please think about it. I just want you to be safe."
"If you really cared about my safety, you would leave me here with my pack." I looked at my brother seriously. "What happened?" It seemed out of context, but I wanted the question answered. Something happened that's why he has these eyes now. It was a simple question. But a question that should explain everything to me.
"I can not tell you that. Devin has to tell-..." I cut him off again. I wiped at my teary eyes and started my next triad of rants.
"WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS WANT WITH DEVIN? SINCE WHEN DID DEVIN RUN IT? You know what? IF DEVIN WANTS SOMETHING FROM ME, HE SHOULD COME FOR ME." With that, I turned and started walking away from my brother again. But a loud growl stopped me.
I immediately turned around and saw that a reddish wolf stepped up to my brother, who growled menacingly at me. Now I wish I hadn't just said the previous thing.
"You didn't want it any other way." , Devin said through the mindlink before he jumped at me, I felt a pain in my head and a short time later everything around me went black.
So much for the party...
