"You will never turn me into this thing!" I said angrily and turned to leave this horrible place. I have to get out of here because I'm not strong enough to defeat Devin anyway. I need help.
"Where are you going?" Devin grabbed my shoulders, turned me to face him and pinned me against the nearest wall, only to come dangerously close with his face.
"Away from you." I glared at him. He slapped me again. What's wrong with him??? But then he suddenly let go of me.
"Come on! Get the fuck out." He hissed back angrily and let go of me.
I left him and this awful place as soon as possible, before he changes his mind. But unfortunately I was intercepted in the hallway behind the basement stairs.
"Well, little one?", asked the 'boss' and checked my body with a perverted look. 'Not another one of that kind', I thought and wanted to get away from here as soon as possible. It would be best if I locked myself in some room and wait for my mate to come and set me free, even if he won't recognize my smell anymore...
"Leave me alone, you pervert," I said and wanted to walk past him, but he held my arm back. Can they please leave me alone? What do they all want from me?
"Has Devin shown you our little project in the basement yet?" he spoke in a tone that was far too calm for the situation, stroking my arm up and down with his hand.
"You're all sick!" I said, shaking his hand off. But then he grabbed my neck and pushed me against the nearest wall. What's with their walls? First Devin and now this old bastard .
"Watch the way you talk to me!" he hissed angrily, trying to squeeze my throat, but seemingly forgetting that he's human and I'm a werewolf.
I pushed him away from me with ease and showed him my fangs. How stupid these people are. Sorry Luna Aurelia, that doesn't apply to you.
Suddenly the elderly gentleman in front of me pulled a blade out of his waistband.
"You should be taught some manners. It's a wonder Devin hasn't done it yet." He came towards me and his face, contorted with anger, slowly developed a victorious smile.
I guess he didn't really get to know me then. Because unlike when we first met, this time I'm not on Wolfsroot. This time I can fight back. And so will I.
He lunged forward. However, I dodged him and knocked the knife out of his hand in one quick movement. It landed a few yards down the hall. Since he was now defenseless against me, I jumped at him and threw him to the ground. He'll be the first I kill of those hunters. He deserves it.
I grabbed his throat with both hands and squeezed hard. Because of my werewolf power, this was easy and the 'boss' started to gasp. But then I suddenly felt a stab in my thigh, which immediately weakened me, which is why I fell to the side like a wet sack.
I looked down and saw the hunter pull the knife out of my leg. Pulling it out caused me excruciating pain, which is why I screamed and he immediately covered my mouth with his dirty hand. But when did he manage to get his knife back? It was several meters away from us, wasn't it?
The hunter, who was now above me, grinned victoriously before speaking, "The knife got soaked in wolfsbane, that's why you're so drained all of a sudden." He continued to grin and tucked his knife back into his waistband "I can't kill you for your disrespect. But I'm sure Devin wouldn't mind if I got a taste of you."
Panic rose in me. I was still all but immobilized and at the mercy of this hunter. Hopefully by tasting he doesn't mean what I think. I was really scared that he would take what Devin hasn't taken from me. Why does this always have to happen to me? Are all men pigs?
But to my misgivings, he had to do just that. He stepped over me so that his nasty breath was on my face. Then he started fumbling with his belt. The next moment though, his head was gone, literally, and his headless body was collapsing on top of mine.
Startled, I looked around to find out what happened. Then I saw my rescuer. An angry Devin stood next to me. His eyes glowed red, showing he wasn't lying about the alpha thing. In his hand he held the head of this creep.
“He should have known where the limits are. You're my mate now, no one can touch you with that but me." He growled angrily.
For the first time I was glad to see him, even if he tried to rape me many times. But for the moment he was my savior and for the first time in my life I was grateful to him.
"I hope you know what kind of problem I got myself into because of you. He was the boss of these hunters and because of you I killed him. The others won't approve if they get wind of it."
"Thank you," I managed in a shaky voice.
Devin's eyes fell on my injured leg and his face softened a bit.
"That has to be taken care of. It can't heal from the wolfsbane." He picked me up bridal style and took me to the room I woke up in a week ago. There he laid me on the couch and put on gloves.
He started cutting open my pants at that point. Then he got disinfectant kit, needle and thread. I was wondering where he learned all this.
"I didn't know you were a doctor too," I said. I really didn't want to talk to him, but I didn't want to keep quiet either. After all, I should be thankful that he saved me from that hunter.
"I'm not really either, but the hunters taught me a lot." As he said this, he spilled some disinfectant over my wound, making me hiss.
"How did you actually come into contact with them?" Normally, hunters would kill a wolf instantly, so I was amazed that he managed to work with them.
"Well, like I said, I joined your pack when I was 15, which unfortunately I had to submit to as your father was in charge. But I was born to lead others. Had I been in charge 5 years ago, not so many would have died fighting the Silverstorm pack. No...we would have crushed that other pack. I would have killed their alpha and become the new alpha, but your father just had to run blind into the carnage," he ground out through clenched teeth.
The guy is clearly overpowered.
"What was your question?...oh that's right... How I came into contact with the hunters. I met them about 7 years ago. I was running and they were chasing. They were resting around a campfire in the woods and I overheard them. Her boss talked about what if you could control the werewolves and rise to power with them. So you see, he wanted the same thing as me. So I was wondering what it would be like if we worked together. Or I would use him and he thinks he would use me. Anyway, I went to the hunters in the camp and made this suggestion to them, and amazingly, he accepted it. And since then we've been working together and forging our plan. The hunters have continued to spread around the world and we have discovered where the elders of each continent reside. Without those, the packs will panic first and then we'll strike." Devin just kept telling his plan. Either he's really sick if he thinks his plan is working or he's really stupid. Because if I escape from here, I know know exactly what his plan is and can warn the other packs.
"A-and w-when will that s-be?" I stuttered, because his plan scared me a little, even though I'm safe by his side. But I didn't want to be on the bad side. All my life I just want to be a regular wolf like everyone else Somehow I'll get out of here and stop this... Somehow.
"Next full moon, when I've finally sealed our bond," he replied, untying the thread from the needle. I didn't realize he had already sewn in the meantime.
So I didn't have much time left to escape from this place. I have to get back to my pack as soon as possible. I have to warn them all. Also, I now know what my brother was trying to warn me about before Devin intervened. So he knows too...
