Sorry MATE, Engagement Canceled Chapter 89

Chapter 89 "What are you doing with him?" He raged. "Damian... it's not what it looks like..." "What doesn't it look like? I came here to see you because I felt worried and instead what do I see? You... and him..." he spat. "Walden only came here to check up on me... he was just leaving." "I see... and had it been I came here a few seconds later, he would have left by then, right?" Damian asked sarcastically. Walden, upon seeing the tense atmosphere, decided to excuse himself. "I'm sorry to have caused this argument Miranda, but I will keep standing by what I say. I love you, and I wont stop fighting for you..." Teardrops slowly fell down her face as she cried, "Walden, please... just go." With that, he excused himself, passing by Damian who growled at him on the way out. After Walden left, Miranda came closer to him, "Damian..." He didn't listen to the rest of what Miranda had to say, walking out on his crying mate. ********** ********** ***THE NEXT MORNING*** Miranda, Damian as well as Samara gathered to have a private court session with the night shadow alpha, the two mates were still not on talking terms, but still heeded to the call they were given to come here this morning. Walden began to address them as soon as they'd all taken their seats. "What happened last night was unexpected and unintended as well, and I want Damian to know that even though I have no apologies for what happened, I didn't mean for any misunderstandings or arguments. I hope that we'll be able to put aside all our differences and work together to catch this criminal." Walden's words brought anger to Damian's eyes. Miranda could see it well, he retaliated then. "Can we just get this over with so that we can be on our way? I don't want to start any more arguments this morning, but you Walden, would be a fool if you didn't realize that the reason we are all here is because of you." "I wasn't the one who got kidnapped, so why is it because of me that we're here?" "The person who kidnapped Samara and my mate did it to lure you into a trap. It seems he wants you dead for some reason, and with the way I'm feeling right now, I don't blame the person so much." "How dare you...?" Samara cut in, "please, can we not start this morning? All these pointless arguments will only waste our time. remember that there's still someone out there targeting Walden, and possibly Miranda and I again. Please, for the sake of our lives, let's just put our differences aside for once and tolerate each other." "Samara is right," Miranda said, never thinking she'd ever say those words. "We have to find whoever it was that planned our kidnap, and the more we fight, the more time we waste." She passed a look at Damian, who just turned his face away from her. "Very well then," he said. "I think that we should start now. Samara?" "Yes?" "You were kidnapped first, which means you were in the blue mountains for a longer time than Miranda." "Yes, I was." "I know you were tied up to a stationary point, so there was not much you'd have seen, but was there anything you noticed? Or probably heard that can bring us a step forward in finding who it is?" Samara nodded, "the kidnappers used to gossip amongst themselves a lot, but before they did, they'd make sure I was unconscious so I wouldn't hear anything..." Damian slumped his head, "so it means you don't have anything tangible to tell us?" "Um... there is something I heard once.... when the sedatives they gave me didn't knock me out on time." His eyes lit up, "what was it you were able to get?" "They were always speaking about the boss, I don't remember what pack it was, but I'm sure it's an alpha from one of the twelve packs." "What's his name?" "I'm sorry... I can't recall the name either." Still facing Samara and not bothering to spare her a glance, he asked her, "and you, Miranda. Were you able to hear anything?" She shook her head, "I'm sorry... Samara is closer to finding the truth than I am. I heard nothing." "Samara?" "Yes?" "Is there anything else you can tell us? Please.... Try to think, remember... there should be something..." "I wish there was more, but there isn't." A moment of silence, no one said anything as Damian got to thinking... Walden remained in his seat, as well as Miranda and Samara, they were all watching him, waiting for his next words, until he spoke again. "Walden?" "Yes?" "Do you know of any alpha? Or can you rather think of an alpha that wants you dead? Probably an enemy of this territory?" "We've only succeeded in signing a treaty with seven out of the twelve tribes, the night shadow pack is still yet to come to an agreement with the remaining five." "What are those five packs?" "The first of them would be the silver pack of course." "We already know that I wasn't the one who kidnapped them." Walden shrugged, "how can we be so sure of that?" "Because if I wanted to kill you... don't get me wrong, the thought of doing just that sounds extremely tempting... but if I wanted to kill you. I wouldn't need to kidnap anyone to do it. You'd already be dead by now." He rolled his eyes at Damian's response, "whatever, let's continue with the investigation." "I'm waiting for you to mention the remaining four packs." "Oh, right, that should be the Moonstone, the Bane, the Turnal, and the Lunar packs." "Samara?" "Yes??" "Is there anything that crosses your memory out of these packs he just mentioned? Probably something that rings a bell... I'm sorry for putting so much pressure on you, but you're the only one who seems to know enough to help us here so I need you to think deeply." Samara thought for a while, but then shook her head, "sadly, there isn't."
