Chapter 87
"You wanted to see me?"
Miranda asked Damian as she entered into the empty court hall, the whole atmosphere was gloomy that morning, everyone had left and activities had been finished for that day early, including Leah's execution.
Miranda was not in the mood to speak with anyone, and had been avoiding any talk with even her mate up till now when she been summoned and she had to answer.
Damian observed her body language, he knew what she was thinking but still proceeded to tell her what he had called her here for.
"We will be moving to the night shadow pack house temporarily."
The words surprised her she had to ask, "but why? What for?"
"Walden and I had a private discussion over the phone. We will be continuing the investigations on the kidnappers that abducted you and Samara."
"Leah has already been caught and punished, even the men that held me hostage, they've all been killed... What more is there to investigate?"
"Not all of them," Damian replied. "The kidnappers might have been killed but the boss is still alive."
"Their leader?"
"Yes. When we went to the trap house, one of the kidnappers spoke of their leader. He wasnt part of the men involved in kidnapping you or Samara, but then, he's the most dangerous."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because he's the one after Walden for some reason, and if he didn't succeed now, it only means he'll try again, he'll just hire more and more killers after him. I don't want you to get involved in more of Walden's mess anymore, so I'm willing to work with him to find out who it is."
"Walden agreed to this? To work with you?"
"He did it before, and if It's to save his life this time, why wouldn't he?"
He then got up from his seat and left her standing there alone in the court.
"Get ready Miranda, we'll be leaving this afternoon."

Samara had heard about her servant who had been imprisoned and tortured by Walden. She also heard how he was released on the near verge of death, thanks to Damian and also about how he was now receiving the remainder of his treatment in his room after being just recently discharged from the healers' quarters.
She thought about this as she knocked on his door. A slow response then came from inside as he welcomed her in..
"Oh mistress...! I never thought I'd see you again! Thank you for coming back to us alive and well."
"Of course! I wouldn't miss out on our plan for anything, not even those men could stop me from carrying out our mission."
"I was taken, mistress. Alpha Walden didn't believe a word that I said.... He kept on accusing me for your disappearance which I knew nothing about. He did so because he had no clue on what we could have possibly been doing at the border so late at night."
"I'm sorry for all you had to go through.... I'm sorry for what he put you through, but there's something important I that I came here to ask..."
"What is it, mistress?"
"When you were in the torture room, did you by any chance, tell him about our team and our plans?"
He shook his head strongly, "no mistress... I would never dare to! He tried to beat the truth out of me... He did the unthinkable to me back there.... but I didn't let a word out about anything we were up to that night."
"Good."
"Of course mistress, you shouldn't bother yourself about that.. you know I would never do anything to betray you. My loyalty lies with you and the team forever."
"Yes, it's too bad that your loyalty will not last forever."
Like an arrow, Raymond was shot by her words, "what do you mean by that, mistress?"
One word. "Killian."
Upon being called, the hefty guard entered into the bedroom, leaving Raymond wondering what his mistress was up to.
"You're probably asking your mind, why I brought Killian here into your room, well, just to inform you he'll be taking your place as my new assistant."
"But mistress... I didn't do anything.... What did I do to deserve such demotion?"
"Not you dear, but Walden. Due to your suspicious behavior on the night of my kidnap, he has his eye out on you and he can call you back into that torture room again." She shrugged. "Who knows? We probably might not be so lucky next time as regards your mouth slipping out some confidential information about the team..."
"But mistress, I would never betray you like that... You know I wouldn't!"
"I know dear, but Samara doesn't take any chances..."
"Mistress.... Mistress!!!"
She didn't let him finish before she directed Killian with a nod of her head. The hefty guard swiftly forwarded to where Raymond was laying and grabbed his neck in his strong arms, applying pressure and choking the poor guard out as he struggled, until he wasn't breathing anymore, killing him right there in front of Samara.
After the job was done, she began to give instructions to her new assistant...
"Clean that up!" She said, referring to Raymond's corpse. "Tell the alpha that he didn't survive the traumatic experience that came from being in the torture room for so long.... make sure no one finds out that he made it out of the healers' quarters alive, kill any eye witnesses and make it look like it was all a rumor."
"Yes mistress!" He bowed.
"Once you are done with that, start making arrangements for us to meet with the rogue king. The time has far been delayed because of my kidnapping. I will not be able to go now because Miranda and Damian are on their way here now for the investigations and I have to be present with Walden. So, you have more than enough time to carry on your new assignment.
"This is a privilege you are given Killian, do not disappoint me or else you will be the one lying in state like Raymond is right now."
