Chapter 113
Martha had heard the noises from her room. She didn't need anyone to tell her who had come visiting. It was just as she'd thought, just as she'd expected. She gave a light smirk as she put on her night robe before stepping out to meet Katrina at the door.
Not much of a surprise; Katrina was still right there pouring out her heart, with tears flooding her eyes. Martha felt so much pity for her then. Poor girl must have been hurt so badly.
As soon as Katrina spotted her, she paused all she was saying, giving her a loathing glare.
Of course, Martha already knew what to expect, so she didn't take offense at Katrina's behavior, only gave her a smile, "Good evening, Katrina. My name is Martha."
Katrina was about to spit some words before realizing something then. "How did you know my name?" She asked, wiping her tears.
"I know your name because you're a very special person to Renard, and he's a very special person to me. The night is cold. Would you mind coming inside for a drink?"
"No," she answered. "I'm sorry for disturbing like this; I just wasn't in a good mood today. I'll be leaving the both of you now."
"No Katrina. Don't go anywhere, you and Renard have a lot of things to talk about. You can't keep running away like this."
"How do you know about me and Renard?"
"Like I said, you are a very special person to him and he is a very special person to me. He never fails to speak so much about you."
"Really?" This puzzled Katrina a lot as she looked in Renard's direction. He gave a shy response.
"Martha, please can we not talk about this right now? I am guessing Katrina is getting uncomfortable with..."
Katrina shook her head, cutting him short, "No I'm not."
"You see," Martha said, beaming, "she's not."
"So, what were the things that Renard told you about me?"
"Martha, don't tell her anything..."
"Ignore him. I'll tell you everything, but first you have to come inside."
"Okay I will," Katrina agreed as she wiped her eyes completely. This lady didn't turn out to be so bad after all.
They'd all entered the house and seated on the couch before Katrina and Martha began to talk again. Renard was getting really uncomfortable with the giggles from the two ladies, so he excused himself early to retire into his bedroom.
"Good night," he said kissing his big sister on the cheek before heading to bed.
Now that they were both alone, the two ladies could deepen their conversation.
"I have to apologize for the way I behaved today," Katrina mumbled. "I let my insecurities get in the way; I'm sorry for talking to you that way. I never knew you were Renard's sister."
Martha grabbed her two hands. "No Katrina, don't apologize at all. I understand you very well because I have once been in your shoes before."
"Really? How so?"
"Well, it's a long story though, but we shouldn't be talking about my love life when yours is just getting started."
"I don't know, Martha. I don't know if I'm ready. I don't know if my heart is ready."
"Katrina, if your heart wasn't ready to love again or if it wasn't already in love, you wouldn't act the way you did today."
"I didn't expect it myself; I just sort of freaked out when I saw him with someone else."
"I'm sorry dear; We didn't mean to hurt you. I just wanted you to let out those feelings you were trying to cage in all this while. I saw it right in your eyes this morning, so much passion-filled desire to be with the man you love."
"Love it's such a strange word to me. I never ever thought I'd experience it."
"So how does it feel?"
"Different, better... fulfilling."
"Then why are you denying yourself of such an amazing opportunity when you should be right there in that room, with him?"
Katrina blushed; how can she be in there with Renard when Martha is right here? "I don't know, I..."
"Say no more, dear. I was just about to head out for the night. I missed my old days of partying out late before I got mated; it wouldn't hurt to have one more night before I return to my family."
"Thank you, Martha. Thank you for everything. You're such a good person."
"I should be the one thanking you for bringing so much happiness to my brother's life. You honestly should have seen the amazing things he said about you, even after such a rejection that hurt him so much..."
"I didn't mean to do that. I was also suffering from a rejection from someone I loved."
"I know dear, that's why you both need each other right now, and that's why we shouldn't prolong this conversation any more than it has to be."
"Okay."
"Good night, Katrina. I'll have a fun night, make sure you do too."

Some moments later, Martha had left the house, leaving Katrina all alone in the living room. Katrina had to remind herself why she was here in the first place. Was this what she really wanted? How would things turn out to be for her and Renard after this?
She heard her wolf then, "just live in the moment, dear. Forget about everything that's going to happen tomorrow or the day after that. All that matters right now is tonight."
Tonight; there's so much that she wants to do. There's so much her heart wants, and it's not far from where she is right now.
She got up from the couch and headed across the the small apartment corridor to Renard's room. She wondered if he was sleeping by now; of course, she didn't expect him to be. It hadn't been long since he left here.
She knocked on the door softly and like she expected, he opened up almost immediately; he hadn't even gone to bed, hadn't changed his clothes.
"Katrina..."
She wasn't in the mood to talk. No words were said as she pushed herself on to him and kissed him fully on the lips. She didn't mean to act so fast, she thought to pull away but then the words her wolf told her swept over her like a wave wash over the sea floor.
"Let tomorrow be. All that matters for now is tonight."
