Chapter 103
It's been two days since the Lotus pack lost it's alpha, and yet the wound still feels fresh for Miranda. The pack's circle is worried about her condition, so much that they had to call her mate for an urgent meeting today. As he watched her sitting in her father's old room, she was staring into an empty space, he then recalled all that the pack's circle had informed him of.
"We apologize for having to call this meeting with you alpha Damian, the leadership affairs of the Lotus ought not to be your concern, but given the circumstances of the situation, it seems that we have no other choice. Miranda is your wedded mate, and she is our princess, we are sure that you have her best interests at heart as much as we do. She has to ascend the throne now, the Lotus tribe is already weak as it is without many forces, the fact that we are without a leader will attract many who seek to overthrow our leadership and colonize the little we have managed to achieve. They might even target Miranda as she does not have the inherited powers of the alpha yet."
"We have tried to talk to her about this, but the only thing she lets us know is that she is still mourning her father. Since she refuses to talk to us, we are hoping that as her mate, you will be able to get through to her for the circle."
"Alpha Luther's death pained each and every single one of us, but not much can be done about that now. The girl needs to rise up and take her newly bestowed assignment."
After listening to all they'd said, all their persuasions, Damian nodded understandingly, "the princess has been in an unapproachable state lately, but I will see what I can do about it."
"Thank you, alpha Damian," they all chorused, and then the meeting ended.
Now here she is; she refuses to leave this room, maybe she feels alpha Luther's spirit more here, or because he spent the majority of his last times here, she got to spend more time with him here, this place holds many memories with her father, which makes her adamant to leave.
"Miranda..." He called.
She didn't hear him, probably lost in her thoughts.
He tried again, taking her hand this time, "Miranda."
She looked up at him, as his contact with got her attention, "Damian..."
He sat in front of her, staring deeply into her eyes as he spoke, "I remember my last memory with your father, he was sleeping on this bed, but when I spoke with him, it felt as if he could hear me somehow. I know he did, because he could finally go to rest knowing I'd made him the promise he was hoping for."
"What... What promise?" She mumbled.
He gave her hand a squeeze as he planted a kiss on the back of her palm, "I promised dear Miranda, that I would love and care for you..."
He began to trail the kisses, from her palm, to her wrist, her arm, her elbow, her shoulders and then her neck, he felt her shiver as he worked his magic on her body, continuing with his words.
"I promised to give you a good life; to make up for all those bad years you've been through..." kissing her deeply on the neck, what...? Did he think he could drag her out her state like this???? Oh... she bit her lower lips... if only it didn't feel so darn good...
Damian saw the fire in her eyes then, he knew it was working; he knew what she'd missed all along.
"And then apart from laying down my life for you at any given moment, I also promised you that I'll always be with you, and never abandon you..." the trail led to her mouth, and then he kissed her fully on the lips.
She felt as if she would explode with the taste of his mouth, she tore her lips away; trying to catch her breath as she felt his arms traveling round her body...
"Oh, Damian..."
"I want to take you here Miranda, I want to create new memories right here with you. This sadness you feel in your heart right now... I want to make you forget all about it."
New memories. Miranda knows she longs for those memories too, but right here? This is her father's room for goodness' sake.
Like he read her thoughts, he appeased her with his words. "This is your room now Miranda, everything here is yours, to keep and protect. To do as you wish; no one will stop you from doing anything you like here. This is the alpha's room, and that, my dear, is exactly what you are."
That was all she needed to hear, all form of worrisome thoughts in her head disappeared as she gave herself up to the moment, taking his mouth again.
Within an instant, he had closed the space between them. His mouth pressed into hers, rough and desperate at first until they sunk into the sensation of each other. Miranda felt the hard post of the bed in her back as he pushed her into it. She moaned into him as he his hands searched her body for relief. She met his hands at her back to assist in releasing the ties of her dress, pulling the strings almost frantically.
Miranda inhaled sharply at the intimate gesture. Welcoming the renewed wave of electricity that ran through her as his breath hit her ear, his course stubble catching on the contrast of her soft skin. She held his breath, anticipating his next exploration as he plunged his hand down her dress, squeezing the supple flesh of her breasts beneath the fabric. His other hand proceeded to roam her body, caressing everything it could reach.
She felt her dress fall loose, leaving her underwear to hang limply on her shoulders. Damian pulled himself away from her lips then, stepping back slightly to allow just enough space to see her fully. With one simple motion he brushed the fabric from her skin, watching greedily as it pooled around her feet on the floor.
