Sold as Slave Chapter 38

Third Person’s POV It was raining outside when Agatha and Sebastian walked out of the review center. They stopped right in front of the entrance to take a shed. Staying silent, Sebastian looked at the teary Agatha. Once again, Agatha was crying because of Mikhail. Sebastian clenched his fists. He could not understand why Agatha invested so much love in an assho*le like Mikhail. If only she looks back, she would see a man who’s been waiting for her for long years. Sebastian wanted to tell her to choose him instead. But he knew Agatha would not like to lose a friend. Right now, Sebastian was the only one she could count on. Crying along with the pitter-pat of the rain, Agatha was glad that she could disguise her sobs. “I am sorry,” Sebastian apologized. “I should have denied their accusation.” Agatha wiped her tears and looked at her guilty friend. “It will be a problem if they think that we are dating. But when I saw Mikhail, I just…” “I understand,” Agatha said. He looked up and saw the forced smile on her lips. “Thanks, Sebastian. I could understand why you did that.” No. Agatha doesn’t know anything, and that’s what prickles Sebastian’s last inch of patience. ‘But I had to endure it. For her sake, I had to,’ Sebastian said to himself before he tapped Agatha’s shoulder and smiled. “Thanks. Instead of studying, we should call this off. I’ll send you home.” “No,” Agatha quickly disagreed. “I told you, my relatives hate it.” “I won’t go inside the condo building. I will just take you near the building.” “With your car?” “I didn’t bring my car. Surprise?” When he spread his arm wide open and smiled at her, Agatha laughed. “Then, let’s ride the bus together.” “Sure.” “Do you have an umbrella?” “I don’t have.” “Be thankful I have one.” Agatha got her umbrella from her bag and opened it. Just like that, they pretended as if nothing happened, and everything was okay. But when Agatha turned her back against Sebastian, Sebastian’s eyes turned dark and cold. He really wished he could have Agatha by himself. “Hey! Come quick!” Agatha shouted. Sebastian smiled and followed her. After riding the bus, Sebastian and Agatha walked together under the rain with only one umbrella, They didn’t talk that much. When Sebastian tilted his head on to the roadside, he saw the lights of cars and streetlights blurred with the flow of water from above. Intentionally distracting himself, his shoulder accidentally bumped on Agatha’s arm. “Ohh,” he flinched. Sebastian looked at her and quickly apologized, “Sorry.” “You always apologize,” Agatha said while walking. “Ahh, right. So…” Sebastian stopped when he realized that he was about to apologize again. “Are you a parrot?” Agatha teased. Scratching his nape, Sebastian asked, “Do you like parrots?” “I… don’t know. Maybe if I raise one, the parrot will be quiet,” Agatha answered. “The parrot will only know how to say ‘Ahhh’, ‘Ahmmm,’ ‘Yes’, ‘No’,” Sebastian said, “But if you are the parrot, I don’t mind raising one.” The two of them stopped walking and looked at each other’s face. “Sebastian,” Agatha called his name. Keeping the umbrella on her side, he mumbled, “Hmmm?” “Do you like me?” Sebastian dropped the umbrella. Thud. “Oh! Hey!” Agatha gasped. She quickly picked up the umbrella and used it to protect themselves from the cold rain. “Why did you drop it?! I don’t want to get sick again.” Sebastian didn’t give me any reply. He was only looking at her, at her beautiful face which seemed more enigmatic because of the rain. His heart beats so fast. He couldn’t believe that the secret he tried to hide from Agatha would be revealed in this way. “I was only teasing you, dude!” Agatha added. Sebastian felt melancholic. This was too much for his weak fluttering heart. “You…,” he uttered, blushing, “don’t you ever do that again. Joking like that.” Agatha laughed at her best friend’s reaction. “Teasing you was the funniest thing to do. Now I get why that person loves to tease me.” Unknowingly, Agatha thought of Brett. She didn’t realize that she brought Brett in the topic, not until Sebastian asked her the question. “Who?” Agatha stopped laughing. “Who loves to tease you?” Sebastian’s stare weighed Agatha. It was cold and rigid but soft at the same time. “T-That is my cousin,” she lied. “My cousin loves to tease me.” “Your cousin’s name?” “Br… Britney. Yes. She’s Britney.” “Picture?” “Hey. That’s too much! Are you a police? Why are you acting like a detective?” Agatha pointed to the condo building. “I’ll go now. Use the umbrella. See you tomorrow!” Agatha was about to run in the rain, but Sebastian pulled her back. “Agatha, I am serious.” She believed him because right now, Sebastian’s expression was perturbed. “I wanted you to take care of yourself and never hang out with strangers,” he warned. “I told you it was my cousin. Why are you so sensitive?” “I am not being sensitive, I just…” Sebastian took a deep breath. He tried to calm down and looked back at Agatha. “Here is the thing,” he started. “There is another reason why I was so desperate to find you. You know uncle Muffin, right?” “Yes. He is your uncle and a detective. Right?” “Yup. Actually, I asked my uncle to look further behind your father’s car accident. And…” Sebastian leaned closer. Then, he whispered. “My uncle found clues that show that your father didn’t die because of an accident.” With widened eyes, Agatha held her breath. She shook her head and asked, “Y-You mean…” “Yes. It might be a murd…” “Agatha? What are you doing there?” Sebastian and Agatha looked to their left. “Who is he?” Lanceil asked as he pointed to Sebastian.
