CHAPTER THIRTY SIX
While Taehyung went to Ha Na, Namjoon couldn't stop crying over the fact that his soulmate just died. He was broken and outraged. His once loving eyes that turned into sadness scanned the features of his beloved thoroughly.
He gritted his teeth and his voice cracked. "Destiny really gave us a short amount of time again."
His chin trembled, unable to say all the words running in his head. He wanted to tell it to her but he was guessing that it was already too late for she have left him already that made him utterly broken and damaged.
"I'm sorry for everything. For all the pain." He added, letting out a tear and looked down, tucking a hair behind her ears.
"Look at you," Namjoon burst into tears, sniffing deeply. "Why do you look so pale more than a vampire's skin? Your red lips that I wanted to taste so much has turned into white. What have become of you? Yet you still managed to look so beautiful in my eyes."
Namjoon forced out a smile because at least that way, she could see him smile and could let this have as his parting gift. "Let us meet in another life and by then, I'll make sure to protect you...as someone who can truly protect you. I will definitely not break our promise again."
With one last look, Namjoon leaned in, pressing his red lips onto the plump pale lips of Elisse—his one and only soulmate. Another tear slipped from his eyes, landing on her cold and pale cheeks.
He pulled away, blinking as he stared at her again. "I will miss you," His voice cracked, tears continue flowing down. "And I will always love you."
Namjoon stood up and walked towards the door, not looking back. He didn't want himself to stop confronting Jimin when looking at Elisse who loved the other Duke instead of him. He speeds outside the palace and to the dungeons underground.
"I'm here to see Jimin." The guards nodded and led the way to Jimin's jail. They stopped at a certain cell and Namjoon walked towards to face Jimin who was curling behind the bars.
"Jimin..." He trailed off, and Jimin abruptly looked at the person calling him before he slowly fixed his posture.
"H-Hyung?" Jimin's voice cracked and his heart shattered at the thought of what he did because he has sinned. He has sinned against his hyung. Did he really kill her? Did he choke and bit her too much to the point where she would die?
But no. He didn't, right? He didn't kill her but he has sinned against Namjoon by marking his soulmate and probably taking her life.
And if I did kill Elisse, how come Namjoon isn't dead and still looking alive in front of me? Jimin thought as he eyed Namjoon.
"Why did you kill her, Jimin?" Namjoon asked, standing in front of him while Jimin sat up and crawled towards him, gripping the bars.
"Hyung, get me out please." He begged as tears fell down his cheeks.
Namjoon shook his head, hands on the pocket. "Tell me, Jimin. What's the purpose of you killing her?"
"I d-don't have one! I didn't kill her!" Jimin yelped, stuttering and broke down, still kneeling on the floor. He denied everything even when he is doubting himself.
Namjoon gritted his teeth and sighed, trying to control his emotions in front of the younger. "You were always like this Jimin. Not admitting the truth."
Jimin parted his dry and cracked lips, and tried to explain but Namjoon cut him off.
"Just like what you did way back then, Jimin." Namjoon intensely looked at him. The elder sighed. "Do you want to know something?"
"It's eventually a cycle." Namjoon said out of nowhere, and Jimin just stared at him, speechless.
"What will happen in this life is the same as what happened back then." Namjoon added with sadness present in his voice while Jimin is confused as he is.
"What are you talking about, Hyung?"
"You thought that Taehyung and Hanisha weren't destined back then because you two fell in love with each other first."
He paused. "You believed you two were destined and Taehyung was out of picture when in reality, he was there at the beginning and even until now. You eventually wasted your effort of killing her back then too."
He lied. Jimin thought. I didn't kill Hanisha. I just couldn't save her.
Also, the fact that Namjoon tried to suppress his thoughts means something must be going on—that there is something Namjoon was trying to hide.
"You know damn well that you two weren't destined since you were able to kill her back then."
But I was a human before the stupid destiny happened, hyung. Jimin wanted to say it but he can't, his tongue was tied. Or at least I could be seen as one.
Jimin let out a heavy sigh, unable to say anything and just let his heart shatter into pieces and let it be trampled by his own thought. However, something hit him.
One of the vampire's law that everyone knows is that when your soulmate is killed, you will be killed too. However, if a Duke's soulmate is dead, he will either be weak or killed, depending on their energy.
But hyung, if your soulmate is killed, why aren't you weak or dead then? Jimin's eyes widened and looked at Namjoon.
Is he...?
"You are the one who interrupted their story from the beginning, Jimin. You are the one who ruined it. You are the one who is out of the picture in the first place!"
He was surprised by the sudden yell of Namjoon and completely forgot his suspicious activity towards the elder.
"I know you hate me because of what had happened. But why do you have to let Taehyung suffer?"
Why does Jimin really let his own best friend suffer because of him? He loves Taehyung as his best friend but the sourness and bitterness have left him to despise Taehyung. Jimin only wanted revenge for what Taehyung did thousand years ago. He killed all Taehyung's blood slaves, not because of jealousy but because he wanted Taehyung to redeemed himself for what he did.
His attention brought back to what happened thousand years ago.
[flashback]
1,000 years ago
(before Taehyung ruled the entire race)
"Save her, Jimin. You can save her. Only you can save her." Taehyung begged, in his arms was both of their beloved.
"I'm sorry, I can't..."
"Jimin!" Jimin knows the truth. He is now a vampire and gained the ability to hear. With that ability, he was able to hear what Namjoon and Taehyung said about the change of destiny.
If he turned Hanisha into a vampire as well, destiny will change? Hanisha will go to Taehyung if he does, right?
"Please Jimin-ah, I beg of you. She's your girlfriend, remember?!"
"Not when you forced her to go to you, and made me a monster, Taehyung." Jimin snapped at the sinner who turned him into a creature like him.
"Jimin! She's dying! Just save her now! Let's talk about that later, okay?!"
Jimin shook his head as tears fell down his cheeks. He stood up and turned around not bothering to look at the sight of his beloved with blood splattered on her whole body, and his best friend holding her.
"Jimin!" Taehyung continue to yell for him.
Jimin clenched his fist and breathed in. He decided to turn around and faced Taehyung. "Then die for her, Taehyung. If you really love her, you will be willing to sacrifice your life for her."
"Jimin?!" Taehyung couldn't believe what formed out of his best friend's mouth.
"Turn her. But if you do, you will die. You can only turn someone into a vampire once a day and considering that you turned me into one today, you won't be able to."
Jimin chuckled bitterly. "You can't save her, Taehyung."
If Jimin ever turn her into a vampire, Taehyung will try his everything to mark her and she will eventually be his. If that ever happen, Jimin cannot see or touch her anymore. And all Jimin could ever do was wait for Hanisha's next life. Only then can he claim her.
"That's why you will be the one to turn her into!"
Jimin let out a laugh in disbelief. " You really think I'd turn my—your woman into a vampire, Taehyung? I won't. If you really love her, then die for her."
[end of flashback]
"I only wanted Taehyung to suffer because of what he did." Jimin mumbled through his teeth, and Namjoon gladly didn't hear him because a guard came out looking for him.
"Mr. Kim, the King wants to see you." Namjoon bit his lips in frustration before he nodded and looked at Jimin for the last time before going back.
"I will be back later." Namjoon hissed. "By then, I will interrogate and torture you."
