The news of Allen’s arrest had spread like wildfire and it more or less affected his business so much so that most of his investors were threatening to leave his company and go invest in some startups. To Sterling, this was just the beginning of Allen’s downfall and he just couldn’t wait to submit the evidence that he had to the law enforcement personnel so that Allen would be locked away for good.
‘The guy was beginning to get on his nerves’
Sterling picked up his cellphone and called Denzel right away
“Denzel, send a copy of the evidence to the police department. Make it totally anonymous,”
“Yes sir,”
“Great, I have some pressing matters to attend to right away,”
“Okay sir, have a great weekend, sir,”
Sterling hung up and looked at the fireplace with utmost attention. His mind drifted away in thoughts. This fireplace could best be described as his life right now. He seldom used the fireplace and when he did, it was on rare occasions but here he was, these past few days, enjoying the warmth that was oozing out of it all because of Phoenix.
Phoenix was definitely a ray of sunshine in his life and she probably didn’t know it yet. She was his fireplace; because she gave him warmth. Although the barriers of the past just wouldn’t let them into each other’s secrets no matter how big they were but he was willing to let her into his life.
They needed each other and they were more or less redeeming each other; Redeeming the CEOs, tsk; that would be a great novel if ever someone were to write it because it depicted them really well.
Upstairs, Phoenix was nervous as hell. Since she came into Sterling’s home, she had been that way. Why wouldn’t she be? She was basically living in the house of an Adonis, a Greek god! She clearly had been really stupid or something for not taking notice of his features.
Those dreamy sharp silver eyes worth dying for, his raven black hair that was really a sharp contrast with his eyes, his chiseled jawline, his eyes were perfection; everything about his facials were to-die for! What about his adnominal region, his abs were probably eight packs; one could definitely see them through his dressing cause he looked fit as always, hairy chest, toned legs.
‘Gosh, he really was an Adonis. No wonder all those girls drooled over him. I heard one time that the netizens had already formed a group for him online were each and every one of them fantasized about being his wife. He really was perfect’
I wondered why my heart always beats faster when he was around me or whenever he spoke to me, all I feel are the flapping of butterfly wings, like a thousand of them in my stomach and it was a wonderful feeling.
Fantasizing about those captivating silver eyes of his when he was not around was my main duty since I have been reprimanded by my doctor and him.
A knock on my door brought me out of my reverie. I was a bit startled by it but I had to quickly compose myself because it was a weekend and no one would come into my room apart from Sterling.
“Yeah, come on in,”
“Okay. I’m glad that you’re finally settling in. You busy?”
“Yeah, I’m settling in just fine and no, I’m not exactly busy, just really thinking about stuffs,”
“Stuffs, care to fill me in? I bet you’ll find me a very good listener,”
“I see. Okay then, I was thinking about you,”
“Were you now? I’m sorry if you don’t mind me asking but what exactly were you thinking about. You see, thinking about me could be pretty vast,”
“About your striking features; what, surprised I’m this blunt? Tsk, I’m just admiring God’s fine masterpiece, not that anything will happen,”
“Ouch, that hurts but don’t worry about that, I’ll make you fall hard for me,”
“Yeah, let’s see how that goes but I’ve got a question though,”
“Shoot,”
“You hardly flaunt yourself on social media or on TVs, why is that?”
“Because I’ve got you now, I mean, why worry when I’ve got you. But I’ve got a question for you too, what happens to your show now that you can’t exactly make any public appearance,”
“All that has been taken care off, I have spoken to Miss Debby Williams, Olivia Jones and Liyah, they’ll handle it and make sure that everything runs smoothly while I’m away; besides, I wasn’t meant to be the host every single weekend,” Phoenix laughed at Sterling’s thoughtfulness and thought that he really was cute.
“Ahh, I see. You’re always a step ahead on everything,”
“I guess i….,” Phoenix winced in pain
“What is it, are you okay?”
“Yeah, I just felt dizzy for a bit,”
“I guess you need rest now, I’ll check up on you when it’s time for dinner. Go to bed now,”
“Okay, sure thing. Thanks,”

Hours had gone by and Phoenix wasn’t feeling any better. Sterling was utterly confused. At first he told her to rest because he thought that he had overworked her by conversing with her and making her talk way more than she should but now, she was puking after every 3 minutes and he was clueless. She was probably coming down with the flu.
“Hey, can you wear something more appropriate, I’m taking you to the hospital,”
“Oh okay, I could try,”
“Do you need help, I can totally help you with getting dressed and no, this is not in some perverted way,”
“I’ll handle it Sterling, thank you. Just give me 5 minutes,”
“Okay, I’ll be by the door just in case you need anything,”
“Hmmmm,”
After Phoenix had gotten dressed, he helped her get into the car and he drove as fast as he could. He was worried about everything, what made her this way, what was the problem, was it the flu?
At long last, when he got to the hospital premises, he helped her out of the passengers’ seat and took her through the hospital’s double doors to the receptionist corner.
“Hi, can I get a doctor urgently, how about Doctor Hailey, is she in? It is an emergency”
“Uhhh, I’m sure the nurses on duty will take good care of her but while they are it, I’ll just page Doctor Hailey for you,”
“Thanks,”
After being taken away to be treated, I stayed in the same hallway I stood some weeks back when Phoenix was brought here and I suddenly had Goosebumps. I waited for what seemed like an eternity before Doctor Hailey came out to meet me again; like she did last time.
“Mr. Tyrell, can we talk in my office?”
“Is there a problem, Doctor; does she have the flu or something?”
“It’s best we speak in private,”
“Okay,”
On getting to her office, I was the least patient, this doctor really needed to speak up faster and not waste his time any longer.
“Well, Miss Mills is doing well as compared to the last time she was here. Her wounds her healing nice and steady. Well, she’s stable and you can go see her in her ward,”
“But you haven’t exactly said what is wrong with her,”
After what Hailey said, I blanked out because I really couldn’t imagine it, it just didn’t make sense.
“I’m sure you already know the answer to that; just go see her,”

“No, I was sedated and I just woke,”
