Adrian’s lips altered between rough and firm, painful yet passionate. The coolness of his touch intermingled with her warmth.
Ella was kissed until her brain seeped out of her body, gathering on the floor like amoeba.
After Adrian let go of Ella, she felt like the world tilted. Her legs turned to air. When Adrian finally pulled away, Ella wasn’t sure if she was floating or collapsing.
The man had just stepped back when her knees wobbled, and she crashed into his arms.
Ella tried to struggle back to her feet but strong arms wrapped around her body. In the next moment, Adrian held her up in a princess carry.
Ella: "_" Wait—what just happened? Why did it seem like doing princess carries have become the devil’s daily routine?
Adrian walked to the couch area. He took a seat and she naturally ended up sitting on his lap.
Seeing that he seemed to be in a good and reasonable mood, Ella tried to get off his lap to talk properly.
Yet, the moment she moved, dark clouds sprouted in the living room of the Eve Mansion.
A gloom settled on Adrian’s aloof face.
Ella, who was midway in sliding off the man’s lap, quietly slid back up to sit on him.
The dark clouds dispersed and warm rays of sunshine peeked through.
Excuse me, sir, can you stop being on and off abruptly? You are not a switch!
At this moment, Ji Yan walked into the mansion with Riri who had run out.
And Ella’s amoeba-like brain finally started functioning again at the sight of listeless Riri.
She turned to Adrian, ’’Baby, help me call a good doctor. Riri seems unwell and nothing else is working."
A team of doctors alighted a grand SUV and looked at the sports car that was parked in front.
The door opened and Ronan alighted the car, ’’You are all here. That’s good!" His gaze scanned across all the people present, ’’Have you made all the necessary arrangements?"
Amongst the entire team, each seemed to be an expert in their own field. Yet in front of Ronan who was obviously young, they were respectful due to his talents and skills.
Hearing his words, all of them immediately tapped their respective suitcases and gave an affirmative answer.
"Good,’’ Ronan frowned, a hint of urgency on his face, "Just brace yourself for any kind of situation. Secretary Ji told me that it’s an emergency. We cannot be careless. However, remember to not let your worries show on your face, regardless of how serious things are."
"Yes, doctor!" The voices came in unison.
"Hurry up! Follow me.’’
Ronan entered the mansion with big strides. Despite his calm appearance, his heart rose up to his mouth.
Ji Yan saying that it was an emergency meant that Adrian’s condition was far from pleasant.
The moment he entered the living room, he was met with the sight of Ji Yan.
"Where is he?" Ronan frowned, ’’I told you to keep him company!"
Ji Yan paused, ’’Eh.. Dr. Knight, who...’’
"What who? Where is Adrian?" Ronan frowned. He had taken Ji Yan to be a diligent person but seeing his current actions, he was mighty disappointed, ’’Would you take responsibility if something happened to him?"
Ji Yan was astonished.
"What’s happening to Adrian? My baby is still in the pink of his health."
Ella’s voice came from somewhere and even though Ronan could not immediately spot her, her voice was grating to his ears.
It was all because of this woman. Ever since she popped up in Adrian’s life, his health graph had gone worse than the weather of Vermilion City.
"Pink of his health? You have the audacity to say that after you aggravated his condition again and again. I am telling you, woman, you better take this opportunity and...’’
Ji Yan stepped aside at this moment and suddenly, a shocking sight entered Ronan’s vision.
Near the couch area in the distance, Ella was seated... On Adrian’s lap. And Adrian held up a peeled grape in his hand, offering it near Ella’s mouth.
Ella narrowed her eyes, scrunching her nose a little.
He said nothing. Just hovered the grape closer.
With the gravitas of a sacrificial lamb, she bit it.
In doing so, she did not forget to give Adrian the ’classic heart eyes’ with a look that screamed—’I am eating it only for you, baby!’
Ronan’s jaw crashed on the floor.
"Better take this opportunity and...?" Ella, the demoness in Ronan’s eyes still remembered his words and turned to him after gulping the grape down, ’’And what?"
Ronan opened his mouth and closed it. With Adrian present, there was no way he could say that he was about to ask her to scram from Adrian’s life.
As if he was already not suffering due to all the times he had run his mouth off against Ella in the past.
But how could Ella easily let him off?
"Baby, do you feel like he wanted me to divorce you?" Ella turned to Adrian.
Adrian’s gaze shot over to Ronan and icicles grew down Ronan’s spine.
"Utter bullshit!" Ronan snapped, ’’As a single dog myself, why do you think I would drag myself into any couple’s crap!"
Seeing his face of clear denial, Adrian calmly glanced away.
Ronan tilted to the side to pat his chest but he was met with the sight of the doctors who looked traumatized.
The team of doctors, having never seen him speaking so crudely, were already traumatized. When he looked their way, they hurriedly averted his gaze.
What a wrong day to step out of his mansion!
"Are you now ready to check the patient?" Ella’s voice greeted Ronan’s ears again.
Indignant and bitter, he turned to her and forced a smile on his face, "Who is the patient? You?"
Ella shook her head, "Not me. The patient is..."
Ronan’s head snapped in the direction of the little bark and there he saw a small towel heaped in Ji Yan’s arm.
The towel slid down, revealing a small puppy.
Ronan stared. "You mean to tell me..." he inhaled a deep breathe, "This is the patient?"

This was not the first time they had encountered the puppy.
When Ella had rescued the puppy and later that day, got herself injured, this same team of doctors had changed its bandages. While Adrian had learnt from them, practiced on mannequin and bandaged Ella’s injury.
Back then, Ronan was not there. But he had heard about it.
But he never thought that Adrian would actually let Ella keep this puppy. Especially considering... his aversion to small and vulnerable animals.
