Veronica’s eyebrows shot up, this wasn’t the answer she was expecting.
"Alright, the truth is, I shamelessly begged her to take me on as her apprentice."
"That’s more like it."
Veronica pointed to the sofa across from her, and once Wayne was seated, she continued her interrogation, "No making things up, what really happened? I remember when you were fleeing Lundan, being chased by that high-ranking person, how did you suddenly become my mother’s apprentice?"
"Is there a possibility that the high-ranking person is your father?"
Veronica was stunned for a moment, and upon regaining her senses, realized that indeed, that could be the case.
No wonder Mister Lando was always unsuccessful, every time he inquired it was soon, almost there, nearly finished—he didn’t want to clear himself up, which would result in the same outcome, wouldn’t it?
"When did you offend Mister Lando?"
"It started over three months ago, I was at home enjoying a potato feast when a Magician Girl in a black robe burst into the Detective Agency." Wayne said with a sigh.
Veronica understood, stood up angrily from the sofa, "This is outrageous, what is he thinking, that I would fancy a piece of social trash?"
"Hard to say, after seeing enough sons from high society, you might want to try something heavier." Wayne mocked.
"Shut up, I won’t allow you to speak of my mother’s apprentice like that."
Veronica sat back down, "Continue, how did you meet my mother?"
"The night I left Lundan, the teacher and I were on a train..."
Wayne shrugged, "Remember when you sent me to the train station? Although I don’t want to burst your bubble, the teacher took me as your boyfriend, and after that, we got acquainted."
"This is nonsense, are they all blind!"
Veronica was furious, furiously angry, including outrage. It’s said that parents understand their children the best, so why didn’t hers understand her at all.
As she said this, she glared at Wayne, who cooperatively slumped onto the sofa, presenting himself like a deadbeat freeloader.
"This is infuriating!"
Veronica grabbed her hair and scratched wildly, seeing Wayne’s infuriating look, she took off her coat and threw it hard at his face.

In another large room, as soon as Austin closed the door, Hefei grabbed his collar and pinned him against the wall. The Lady of Dragon Blood possessed incredible strength, but Austin was used to it and didn’t even think about resisting.

Hefei was stunned for a moment and realized she was too close to the scoundrel, and that the shameless man was still trying to press his cheek against hers, so with an over-the-shoulder throw, she flung him onto the bed.
Wait! Why is there a bed here?
Hefei raged, "Why did you bring me to the bedroom?"

Austin secretly argued internally, but plastered a smile on his face, pointing to the wall opposite, "I don’t know; maybe I haven’t looked at this photo with you for a long time, I couldn’t help but reminisce."
On the wall was a large wedding photo with a suit and bridal gown nestled together. Underneath, on a long table, there were several frames capturing beautiful moments: photos of the couple, a mother holding her daughter, and family photos of the three of them.
The photo’s emotional impact was off the charts, and Hefei’s imposing aura immediately dissipated by a good half.
Austin seized the opportunity, approaching his wife and speaking softly, "You haven’t been home in a long time, the last visit was brief, and you only had dinner with Veronica. You have no idea how happy she was that night."
"Don’t say those things, I know what you’re trying to do. I’ll make it up to Veronica in the future, it’s my fault, and I’ll fix it myself," Hefei turned her head, feeling it was too late for emotional appeals now.
"Of course, but if I were there too, Veronica would definitely be even happier."
Austin took Hefei’s hand, and she struggled slightly, her movements betraying her Dragon Blood strength.
Austin raised his hand to embrace her shoulder, "I’m very happy you’re back, and so is Veronica. I swear I’ll treat you better from now on, don’t leave, at least, come home for dinner every night, let Veronica see you every day."
Hefei’s spirit completely dissipated, the image Austin described was exactly what she longed for in her heart.
"I’m now the High Priestess of The Church, are you okay with that?"
"I’ve thought it through, I should not have always tried to constrain you, I shouldn’t have kept you bound to this house."
Austin spoke passionately, "If my love is a wild horse, I will create a prairie for her, if my love is a bird yearning for freedom, I will build her a forest."

Hefei looked at Austin astonished, and as he shamelessly moved closer, she raised her hand and pushed him away with a slap.
