SUNNY’S POV
I just ran and ran until my feet felt weak and I had no choice but to stop and sit on a bench near the playground where I used to go whenever I want to be alone.
‘Mom, Dad, Henry and I are already engaged.’
I can still recall how Mira said that with a huge smile on her face. On their faces.
They are already getting married. Henry’s getting married…
Tears kept on running down my face, I tried to wipe them away, but it just won’t stop. Getting married? Why? Why do they have to get married? I don’t understand… I don’t want Henry to get married… I love him…
“Sunny…”
I quickly stood up upon hearing my sister’s voice. I was about to walk away from her but she was able to grab my hand. “Sunny, why are you running away? Are you mad? Do you still love Henry?”
“I-I just want to be alone. P-Please leave me alone.” I said.
“Do you think I didn’t notice it? You’ve been avoiding me these past few days. Actually, the moment that I announced everyone that Henry is my boyfriend, you became cold. Sunny, just tell me the truth, okay? Is there something that you’re not telling me?”
“Mira, just let me be alone even for a while, okay? I need to—
“Sunny, just talk to me… talk to me please.” she pleaded.
She just won’t let me go. I quickly wiped the tears in my eyes and looked at her. “You want me to say something? To tell you the truth?! Yes! I love Henry! I still love Henry! And it broke my heart when you told me that he’s your boyfriend!” tears started streaming down my face while Mira was just staring at me with shock. “He’s the only man that I loved… the only one that I wanted… but of course, as usual, all the things and the people that I like doesn’t like me. And guess what? They all like you! Because you’re beautiful, and I’m not, because you’re smart, while I always get the lowest grades! You got every single thing that makes people love you, while me? No one wants me…”
“T-That’s not true, Sunny… that’s not true…”
“Not true?! You’re telling me that it’s not true?! Mira, are you an idiot? Or just blind? Can’t you see how people are so good to you and so distant to me?! Even mom and dad, you are their favorite daughter. You get all the privilege while me… I get nothing… It was all about you after all… it was never about me.”
“Sunny…” she tried to reach out for my hand but I immediately avoided her.
I looked at her and I realized that she was already crying too. “Don’t cry, mom and dad might scold me. They might think that I made you cry.”
“Sunny I’m so sorry… I didn’t know that’s how you feel all along… I’m really really sorry, Sunny…”
“Babe!”
I quickly ran away as soon as I saw Henry running towards us. I heard them called me but I just ignored them. People kept on looking at me while I was walking through the suburbs with my tear-stained face. Have I told you before that I look like pug whenever I cry?
Now, where should I go?
I can’t go home knowing that they are all waiting for me there. For sure they’ll ask me about what happened and why I reacted that way. Then mom would scold me again. Ugh, I’m so tired of them all.
“Hey nerdy.”
Here goes my other problem. “You know what? If you’re just going to scold me for leaving you all there and making the love of your life cry, please, just leave me alone. I already had enough for this day.”
“Well, I don’t want to go back there either. I don’t want to see that four-eyed man’s face and Eris with a huge smile on her face.”
I turned around and looked at him. “So, why did you follow me? Would you like to celebrate the most hurtful heartbreak you ever had?”
“Would you like some ice cream?” he asked which made me burst into a laughter. “W-Why? What’s so funny, huh?! What’s so funny about eating an ice cream?!”
“There’s nothing funny about eating an ice cream, but with a man who eats ice cream whenever he’s heartbroken, that’s so funny! You are such a baby! Hahaha!”
“If you don’t want, then just shut up and cry like a monkey all you want.” He said as he began walking away from me.
I ran towards him, “I’m just kidding, babe! Hahaha!”
