At last, I arrived just after sunset.
A long line of people stretched before the gate, waiting to be inspected by the guards before entering. But amid the murmurs of the crowd, I heard something unsettling—cries from within the city walls.
"Please, let us out! We beg you!"
The desperate voices belonged to men—grown men—pleading with the guards at the gate.
The guards, however, were unfazed. Two strong-looking women clad in knight armor stood firm, their feline ears twitching under the glow of the magic lamps.
Cat girls.
Even from a distance, they were as mesmerizing as I’d imagined. Their gleaming eyes, playful smirks, and swaying tails added to their charm. I wanted to get a better look, and study them up close.
"Shut up, idiots! You signed the contracts. There’s no way in hell we’re letting you leave!" one of the guards barked at the men groveling at their feet.
Contracts? I mused.
Then, my turn at the gate came.
One of the guards studied me from head to toe before scoffing. "A kid? This isn’t a place for brats. Shoo, shoo!" She waved me off dismissively.
"I’m not a kid!" I shot back, barely containing my frustration. How dare she?
Beside me, Rin tilted her head. "Kill?" she asked.
I shook my head. "No, Rin."
She huffed, crossing her arms. "Rin hates cats. Rin kill cats," she muttered, and I swear, that was the longest sentence she had ever spoken.
She was regaining her speech little by little.
But then again, it made sense—snakes and cats had never been friends.
Her aura spiked, nearly slipping out of control. The guard must have sensed the danger because she quickly shoved a stack of papers into my hands, clearly wanting to move things along before trouble started.
The document laid out the conditions of entry: only visitors competing for the Lumenis, the first piece of the Key of Ascension, were allowed in. Those who failed to win at least one game in the tournament would be forced into slavery—unless they could pay a ransom of 100 gold coins each.
Ridiculous terms.
But I wasn’t the least bit worried. There was no way I would lose.
Without hesitation, I signed my name—and Rin’s—before handing the contracts back.
They let me in, and once inside, I stole a glance at the wretched men still begging to leave. They looked utterly defeated. Just what the hell was happening here?
As I made my way into the city, my eyes widened in disbelief.
The kingdom shimmered under the glow of countless magic lamps, illuminating an energetic, bustling nightlife. Even at this hour, the streets teemed with activity.
And cat girls.
They moved through the city in droves, their outfits far too revealing for the night’s chill. The moment they spotted me—a fresh arrival—they swarmed in, playfully vying for my attention.

Since I was new here and needed to gather information, I figured I might as well play along.
I picked one—a quiet beauty among the rowdy crowd. Unlike the others with ginger and blonde hair, she had jet-black locks, her presence subdued, almost hesitant.
"Hey," I greeted her.
She gasped, clearly not expecting me to acknowledge her.
"How much for a night?" I asked.
Her cheeks flushed with blush, her golden eyes widening. "A... a night?"
"Yeah. I want to spend the night with you," I said firmly.
The other cat girls huffed, clearly displeased with my choice.
"Hey, boy! Leave that lowly girl be! She won’t satisfy you like we will!" one sneered before shoving her, sending her stumbling to the ground.
I frowned. That pissed me off.
"But she’s the one I want," I stated, pushing the other girls aside.
I approached the fallen girl and extended my hand. "I’m Asher. You?"
She hesitated before shaking her head. "We’re not... allowed to tell customers our names," she whispered.
"Alright. Shall we go, or should I pick someone else?" I asked.
She quickly stood up, dusting herself off before giving me a shy nod. "L-Let’s go."
I could here growls from the other angry ones as we walked off.
She led the way, with Rin and I following close behind.
As we approached another heavily guarded gate, I overheard the warriors talking.
"The escaped men are at the gate. Go capture them!"
I sighed. Those poor bastards.
But getting inside this gate wasn’t for free especially with a cat girl. I had to pay 10 gold coins for the stay, and 10 gold for the girl.
I took my room key, and once l was through the gate, I realized something—I had barely scratched the surface of this kingdom’s beauty.
This was the true heart of Felmora.
And it was far, far more explicit than anything I had imagined.
