Her sword rose high, sharp as a razor.
I barely had a second to react before it came crashing down.

A jolt of numbness spread through my left hand, followed by something warm and thick.
Blood!
I was swimming in a pool of my own blood. My severed hand lay on the floor, completely detached from my body.
I screamed—a loud, deafening cry of agony. My eyes trembled with terror. My entire body throbbed with pain. The white garments beside me were now completely stained red.
And before me, Liloth just stood there, looking down at me with a wide grin, completely unfazed by the fact that she had just maimed someone on holy ground.
"Hah! A devil boy screaming in agony? Now that's a sight to behold!" Liloth sneered, raising her sword once more. "Fight back, brat! Show me the demonic power I heard you possess."
She was pushing me to the edge. I still had a ton of PP left in my arsenal, but fighting back would only make it more believable that I was with the Revolutionaries.
"If you're not going to fight back, then DIE!!" she roared.
This time, I had a moment to react. A wind barrier formed around me, blocking her strike.
Liloth took a step back, her eyes narrowing. "Well, would you look at that? You really can use magic without an incantation." Her smirk widened. "You really are a demon-boy, aren't you? Time to get serious."
I groaned, my vision blurring. I was losing too much blood. My strength was fading fast.
"I... I'm not using any demon power!" I shouted.
Liloth scoffed. "Even on the brink of death, you still cling to your dirty lies! I can't tolerate liars in the house of the Goddess. So die, you worthless sinner!"
The irony. She wanted to kill me but couldn't tolerate lies? Which of the two was the greater sin?
Before she could strike again, a creaking sound came from a nearby room. The door swung open, and a woman stepped out, her long white robes flowing as she took in the scene with wide, startled eyes.
My heart skipped a beat.
The Priestess.

I was never one to believe in Devine interventions, but this sure looked like it.
Without thinking, I stumbled to my feet, snatched my severed hand, and bolted toward her, leaving Liloth behind.
"Hey! Get back here, you damn brat!" Liloth roared.
But I didn't stop. I dragged myself forward with my remaining strength. The Priestess barely had time to react before I slammed into her, staining her pristine robes with my blood and pushing us both into the room she had just stepped out of.
"Wha—?!"
I spun around, dropped my severed arm, and grabbed the door handle, yanking it shut just as Liloth lunged toward it.

I locked it.
"Open this door, you bastard!" Liloth's furious screams echoed through the room as she pounded against the door.
I exhaled sharply, turning to face the stunned Priestess. Her golden eyes locked onto mine, a mixture of confusion and fear flickering within them.
"What... What do you think you're doing?" she demanded, her voice firm despite the slight tremble.
"I'm sorry, Priestess, but I—"
My strength finally gave out. The blood loss had taken its toll. I collapsed to the ground, my vision darkening.
The last thing I saw was the terrified look in her eyes.
Then—darkness.
I woke up to the familiar clinking sound of my system. A blue screen materialized before my eyes.

Before I could process anything, a door creaked open to my left.
I turned—and there she was.
The Priestess, Seraphina Elaviel, walked toward me in flowing white robes. Her hair was damp, as if she had just finished bathing.
I stared.
Damn.
Her beauty was almost otherworldly. The innocence in her golden eyes. The warm, gentle smile on her face. The way she carried herself with grace—it was almost enough to make me forget everything.
For a moment, she looked like the Goddess herself.
"Hey, you're awake." Her voice was soft, soothing.
But all I noticed were her lips. Small. Cute.
Not a word of what she said registered in my brain.
"You're a strong one," she continued. "I thought you'd be out for a long time, but you only slept for six hours."
My eyes widened. "Six hours?! Then—"
"Yeah, it's already dark outside," she said as if reading my mind.
"And... that monster. That woman. Where is she?" My voice trembled.
The Priestess smiled reassuringly. "Oh, don't worry. I spoke to her and convinced her to spare you. I didn't sense any malice or demonic energy from you, so she agreed to leave."
I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding. "Whew..."
"But she was angry," Seraphina added. "She said this isn't over. That you'll meet again."
A chill crawled down my spine as l came to a realization that there were only two things I feared in this world: one, Liloth Alvado, and two, being rejected by a hot MILF.
