Third POV.
Aurora asked as she ran towards Leila, nearly knocking her down.
Hearing the question, both Elana and Marcus were brought back to reality and remembered why they were outside late at night in the first place.
Leila looked at Aurora in confusion since she couldn’t understand why the girl was asking her that.
Seeing her puzzled look, Aurora bit her lips before saying, “Well, I hope that there wasn’t any misunderstanding between you and my brother because of the witch.”
Leila lowered her head in shame because she knew that she had clearly misunderstood and nearly rejected her mate because of that. She was afraid that they might all be disappointed in her and thus didn’t dare saying anything and hoped that Aiden would snitch on her.
“Well, you aren’t mistaken, she did. She had made things difficult for me. At that time, I was so afraid of losing her that I wasn’t thinking clearly. When I failed to answer her, she took my silence as a yes. That I had the intention of making Madeline my mate and queen.” Aiden said, making Leila glare at him since she had not expected Aiden to snitch on her.
“No way! How can you not believe my brother when he told you he didn’t?” Aurora asked as she started panicking.
She had heard from various people that when a person finds their mate, they nearly forget about the others and only see their mates in the eyes. They also trusted and believed them unconditionally. Hearing what had happened between her brother and his mate, she wondered whether it was true or just rumors.
She hoped it was true since she had experienced what her brother had gone through just to find his mate and make her the queen. Thus she understood the situation between her brother and Madeline more than anyone else, well, apart from his best friends, that is.
Thinking of what happened earlier, Leila’s doubts and what she had heard, Madeline started wondering the reason why some people reject their mates. Was it because of a misunderstanding since there was a lack of trust and love between the couple or what was the reason? She shook her head since she found it tiring as she tried to figure everything out.
“You can’t blame me for that when he just kept quiet even after asking what was happening and what was going on between him and that bitch,” Leila said as she continued to glare at him.
“How could I speak when you just ask questions one after the other? Without giving time to process your questions?” Aiden asked as she stared at her.
“Process? What’s there to think about? Huh? Or did you want time to think about how to deceive me?” Leila asked him.
Hearing this, Aiden gritted his teeth while the others looked at them as they argued as if they were the only ones present with amused faces.
“That’s not what I meant, I just….” Aiden remained silent as he could find the exact words to express himself.
“Just what? I had never thought of you as a coward. You had to let Brad come forward and tell me since you couldn’t. What’s there to be afraid of? Or did you think that I wouldn’t listen to your explanations or not believe you when you hit me with facts as he did?” Leila asked as she tried to seize him.
Both Elana and Marcus looked at the two in confusion as they wondered who Brad was. Seeing that neither Leila nor Aiden were looking at them so that they could satisfy them with the answer, they shifted their gaze to Aurora hoping that she would tell them.
Feeling their gazes, Aurora looked at them with confused eyes, they raised their eyebrows but Aurora did not understand them thus she gestured to them, ‘What?’
They rolled their heads at that but they mouthed the word Brad to her making Aurora mouth oh to them before saying, ‘his wolf’. Hearing that, they nodded in understanding before shifting their gaze and attention to both Leila and Aiden.
On the other hand, Aiden was jealous when he heard what Leila said. He wondered whether he did the right thing by giving Brad the chance to explain to her what was going on. He also wondered whether Brad had planned all that, taking control, making Leila trust him more than she trusted me, before. Thinking of the possibilities, Aiden clenched his fist as he wished to beat him up.
“I am sorry. At that time, I was so afraid of losing you that I couldn’t think straight. Also, I was afraid that I might anger or make you sad with what I say,” Aiden said after calming down.
Leila rolled her eyes when she heard the explanation since she did not know what to say. She was still mad at him even though she knew that she was just being petty. She just couldn’t help herself but just be.
“I was so afraid, please believe me, mate. I am so sorry. I promise that I won’t touch you again till you are ready,” Aiden said.
“Again?” The three, Aurora, Elana and Marcus shouted in unison.
They blamed themselves for not being able to stop him. They started cussing at Madeline in their hearts for making it impossible for them to stop Aiden.
Both Leila and Aiden were shocked at their outburst wondering why they had such a big reaction.
“You weren’t supposed to be her, brother,” Aurora said quickly, making everyone look at her.
Elana and Marcus looked at them as they wondered whether Aurora had the same thoughts as them and if the reason she had come here was to stop them. If that was the case, they felt that they might be able to prevent anything in the future with her on their side.
“Why not? Isn’t she my mate?” Aiden asked coldly but he couldn’t bring himself to look at her coldly since he was afraid of scaring her.
“No one has refused that she is your mate, brother. But don’t you have self-control? How can you mate with her or is it making love to her when she is still sick? Can’t you try to be a human with feelings for once?” Aurora said, making Elana and Marcus look at her proudly, Aiden with a gloom on his face while Leila looked at the ground with her face red.
“What are you children doing here at this time?”
