Chapter 151 Late Night Inspection
"Veronica, you are so disobedient," Toby said in a gentle sweet voice.
Veronica was stunned when she realized how close they were to each other and felt her heartbeat rise. They paused for a moment and the atmosphere became awkward.
Lisa, who was looking for Veronica, was secretly at the dressing room door taking a picture of their scene. She was alarmed when they saw her, "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see anything. Bye."
Veronica was startled and instantly pushed Toby away from her. Toby took a step back and glared at Lisa like she interrupted something and it scared her away.
"This is all your fault, we were seen!" Veronica said angrily.
"So what if she saw us? What are you so afraid of?" Tobi boldly replied.
"Aren't you afraid for Suzanne to know?" Veronica asked.
Toby did not respond.
Veronica looked at him with anger in her eyes and impolitely said, "Of course, you are afraid. I saw you. You were startled too. If Suzanne was the one who saw us, I know you would be the one to step back. I do not want to hurt her feelings and I hope you feel the same way."
She pointed her finger to his face and taunted "If you get close to me again, I swear I'll..."
Toby turned away before she even finished her statement.
Veronica felt offended, "Hey! I'm not done talking yet!"
However, Toby walked straight out of the door and disappeared as if he didn't hear anything.
Veronica felt annoyed. She stamped her feet and decided to return to the studio.
Lisa, who was reading the manuscript, saw her come in and stayed silent.
Veronica went to her and explained herself, "Lisa, what you saw was just a misunderstanding."
"Why are you explaining to me? A misunderstanding? What are you talking about? I told you I didn't see anything. " Lisa replied nervously.
Veronica was silent for a moment and anxiously thought that Suzanne might soon find out, but she did not ask Lisa to keep it a secret.
"All right, back to work." Lisa stood up and went to the stage.
After an hour they soon finished the show.
"Thank you for your hard work." Lisa thanked everyone with a smile.
The staff left separately and Lisa stayed to watch the recording of the show. When Veronica was about to ask Lisa something, a tall figure appeared outside the door.
Veronica froze, she felt uneasy and wondered what Nick was doing there.
Veronica panicked and thought that her scene with Toby earlier might have something to do with Nick's sudden arrival. Nobody else saw them except Lisa. Toby was supposed to visit Suzanne when he came but went to Veronica instead. Veronica was not sure if Toby had already left after their scenario.
Veronica composed herself.
The atmosphere became so oppressed. Even Lisa could feel it. She stood up from where she was sitting and wondered why the KING Group's CEO came.
Late-night inspection? Scary.
Rachel, who received the news, rushed to the studio to see Mr. Cage. She took time to compose herself and came in with a bright smile on her face. She looked around the studio and saw Veronica and Lisa. Rachel glared at Veronica like she knew something terrible about her.
Veronica couldn't read her face but knew it meant something. Rachel faced Nick and spilled her news, "Mr. Cage, it seems like you responded quickly to my message. I heard that Mr. Cage came here earlier looking for Veronica." Rachel sneered at Veronica with schadenfreude.
Veronica's brow slightly frowned and was puzzled.
Is Rachel trying to frame her?
Nick's eyes narrowed and looked towards Veronica.
Veronica saw Nick's eyes and refuted, "No, she's lying. Toby was looking for Suzanne, not me."
"What do you mean looking for Suzanne? Lisa clearly told me that he was looking for you. Lisa, tell us what you saw." Rachel's tone slightly raised as if she was so sure and asked Lisa.
