Chapter 157 Held Captive
Toby Cage withdrew his cold eyes and went inside the house.
Eden Cage stood there, his face shook with anger.
It was that woman again! He would not tolerate it!
Veronica Parker's consciousness gradually awakened, her head was drowsy and her whole body was weak.
She opened her eyes and looked around at her surroundings. She was in a very strange room, and she did not know where it was.
She rubbed the aching back of the neck and thought of what happened before she lost her consciousness.
Taking advantage of the noon break at the TV station, she went out to buy some milk powder for Peter. She thought that she would first choose the milk powder and would ask the shop assistant to send it home so that she would not have to take it to the TV station to arouse suspicion.
But not long after she got out of the TV station, she was knocked unconscious from behind.
And here she was now.
She had no idea what was going on and she could not think of anyone who has a grudge against her.
Veronica Parker was puzzled. Not long the door of the room was pushed open and she looked up. A middle-aged man came in, dressed in a suit. He looked sturdy, serious, and disdainful.
Veronica Parker's beautiful brow frowned slightly and searched her memory to make sure she didn't know him.
She stood up from the ground and looked at him. "Who are you? Why did you bring me here? What do you want?" She could not think that this man's intentions were good. If it was good, things would not be done this way.
"Veronica Parker, although we haven't met personally, we've known you for a long time. That is if Kevin Cage's birthday party doesn't count."
It was Toby Cage's father, Eden Cage, who turned to face Veronica Parker and looked at her. "You really do have the beauty to seduce a man," he said.
Veronica Parker was extremely uncomfortable when she heard Eden Cage's words.
But why did he mention Kevin Cage's birthday party? This person showed up at the birthday party, so he must not be an ordinary person?
"You have something to do with Cage family? Are you with Cage's family?" That was all Veronica Parker could guess.
"That's a thought. Why don't you keep guessing?"
Veronica Parker was not in the mood. "I can't guess."
"Alright, I won't keep it from you, either. I'm Toby Cage's father."
Veronica Parker was surprised and shocked, "You are Toby Cage's father? Why did you knock me out and brought me here? I have nothing to do with Toby Cage anymore."
She could not understand why this had to happen to her whether she had to do anything with Toby or not.
She was hurt!
"It doesn't matter?" Eden Cage sneered, "You say that only to deceive others and cheat your way out of this."
"Toby Cage and I have broken up."
"Even if you break up with each other, you still have a feeling for him?"
Veronica Parker pursed his lips tightly; her eyebrows and eyes looked displeased.
She could see clearly that Toby Cage's father was very dissatisfied with her.
"Chloe Bowen has upset the Cage family. Are you going to take over when she's gone?"
Veronica Parker did not talk. Why did everyone think of her so badly? What was she doing wrong? Having this kind of persona was simply inexplicable!
She did not want to argue with this kind of person, "You can think whatever you want; I won't satisfy you with an answer." With that, she turned around and started to leave.
Eden Cage stepped forward and grabbed her arm. He then pushed her to the ground. Veronica Parker was caught off guard and was hurt.
Eden Cage looked at her with a twisted expression. "Still want to run?"
Veronica Parker sat down on the ground. She turned to look at Eden Cage's twisted face, her heart racing and the blood on her face drained away. "Nick Cage will find me!"
"Why would he be looking for you?"
Veronica Parker didn't say. It was all up to Nick Cage to decide whether she lives or dies now.
What's more, she didn't tell him that she was wearing a tracker.
If Nick Cage found out that something was wrong with her, he would look for her.
"Do you really take yourself so seriously?" Eden Cage squatted down in front of her and, Veronica Parker's body retreated subconsciously. An uneasy feeling surrounded her.
