"Nathan?" I blink.
"Yes?"
"I love your British accent." I say and I flush, curling my toes as I wait for his reply.
"Then I live your voice." He says and my face gets even hotter.
"Don't you think that's sappy?" I giggle, biting down on my lip.
"But it's true." He says.
"You know what. Let's go on a date." I don't know when I blurt if out but silence ensues after.
He doesn't answer and I suddenly want the ground to open and swallow me.
"I mean... I-" I can only stutter as I try to justify myself.
"I'd like that but we'd have to go on dates. There are going to be more than one." He finally speaks.
I sit up immediately.
"What are you talking about?"
So he isn't declining my offer after all. He is looking forward to it. This fact floods into my heart and brings me relief.
"We can have a date right now if you want but first, I'd like to know your wolf more better."
"You want me to shift?" I ask.
Judging by the footsteps, I think he is on his feet now. "Don't worry about what happened last time. I promise you that it won't happens again."
"What do you mean?"
More footsteps invade my hearing till he is in my view. He is now dressed different, he might have used his powers to change.
"There's something that you should really know; something that I found out when you first shifted."
"And what's that?" I question while he looks at me with serious eyes.
"You believe that you're the only werewolf that has a wolf that speaks but you're wrong; werewolves have talking wolves in their heads." He turns his back to me. "You're royalty and you have been taught of this before but you forgot or should I say that your memory was tampered with, wiped away."
I stand on my feet. "I don't understand what you're saying, Nathan."
He peeks at me through the corner of his eyes. "What I mean to say is that 'she' has tampered with your memories."
She?
Is it the woman who placed the curse on Shelia; that must be the one.
Nathan continues. "But I don't know why she did it; why she tampered with that part of your memories. There are many others to choose from that can cause you pain but still..."
I can tell that he is thinking aloud and not actually talking to me.
When I don't say a word, he notices and shoots me an apologetic smile.
"Sorry to put you in this mess and to drop this kind of information on you too. I promise to take care of everything... It is my fault after all." He says.
"Does my wolf know about this?" I ask.
"Yes, from the very start. She was never angry at you. Your wolf is the kind that likes to joke and play around a lot." He tells me.
Well, that explains a lot of things.
He walks to me and stretches out his hand. "How about we make a deal then?"
"Sorry, but making a deal with a god is something I don't want to repeat again." I shake my head.
He laughs and retreats his hand. "Okay, if you say so. Although it isn't something as serious as Evelyn's deal."
"Then what is it?" I question.
I am suddenly curious but he shrugs my question off and walks back into the corner of his room.
"If you like, we can go on a date now." He says and I shake my head, even though he can't see me.
"I have to go on a tour... well, lets say that I'm going to be the tour guide when I find Shelia." I walk to the door, aware of his piercing eyes following me.
When I open the door, Summer is standing in front of me with a grim look on her face. "Isabella, can we talk..." She trails off as her eyes drifts behind me. "Um, maybe when you're not busy."
"I'm not." I laugh once I realize that she is staring at Nathan. "I'm not busy. You can talk to me all you want."
I walk out of the room and close the door behind me. "He can't see us now. You don't have to worry about him."
It's unlike Summer to be acting this way. The next thing I know, she drags me all the way to her room and pushes me in but before she closes the door, she pokes her head out of the door and looks around.
"Okay... You're acting weird. Did anything bad happen?"
Her face is much more grim when she turns to me. "I want to reject him... I want to reject my mate."
Um... That was unexpected.
