At the castle; in a guest room
Heaven's POV
I rubbed my eyes and struggled to get up from the bed, dragging my feet on the floor. I managed to get myself to the bathroom and had a cold shower.
I was still getting used to my new, temporary life in the castle, so it wasn't going to be easy for me to ask one of the maids to make me a hot water bath.
With a towel wrapped around my chest, I was trying to use another to dry my hair.
"Good morning your highness" I heard a deep male voice by the door.
"Ahhh!" I got scared and was about to trip, when he was able to catch me just in time, before I could hit the floor.
"You!!!" I found myself screaming, but still making no attempt to stand on my feet.
"What is going on here?" I heard Kayden's voice, he had entered the room, and I could sense the displeasured feeling he had inside of him.
"She's fine now, and you? can't you stand on your feet?" He asked me as he dragged me away from the guard.
"Go away from here now, leave this place!" He ordered, pointing towards the exit of the room.
"And what were you doing huh? Romancing a guard while you are married to the prince. Are you okay?" He became very annoyed
"What do you mean by that? Have you quickly forgotten that our marriage is nothing but a contract bound by a mere sheet of paper?"
I also lost my temper as I immediately came to realize myself, having goosebumps all over, probably, out of fear.
"Did you just raise your voice at me??!!" He raised his hand at me, while yelling at me, as if I was nothing but a child.
"I'm sorry" I shivered, using my hand to serve as a shield to block his hands from smacking my face. If his hands were to slap me, I'm sure I would die.
My eyes were tight shut, with my hands still serving as a shield, and waiting to receive the pain he was about to inflict on me.
But after many minutes of waiting I brought my hands down only to discover that he had walked out of the room.
Kayden's POV
I went into my room and slammed the door so roughly that I felt like it was going to be ripped off its hinges.
Clenching my fist and letting my cheeks vibrate as I punched the wall over and over again, letting my blood gush out and painting the wall at the same time.
What was wrong with me?. What kind of a monster am I? Images of how Heaven covered her face to protect herself from me, kept on flashing in my head and the more I saw those images, the harder I punched the wall.
"Kayden!!" I heard her voice and for a second I thought I was hearing things, until I turned to my right only to find her looking so scared at the door.
I punched the wall again, I don't know why, but each time I saw her looking so frightened because of me, it enrages me.
"Please stop this, you can hit me if you want, but stop hurting yourself" she struggled to get a hold of my hand.
But I put up a fight with her, resisting her and retreating my hand from her.
"Get away from me…I am going to hurt you, stay away from me. GO AWAY NOW!!" I shouted at her and pushed her to the floor, but she quickly stood up, and tore the sleeve of her dress.
"Stop it!! You are hurting yourself and yourself alone, please stop it" she began to cry and wipe the blood off my hands.
"What do you think you are doing?" I tried to put up a fight, but she wasn't even paying any attention to what I was saying, she continued that action without even hearing me out.
Hot tears rolled down her eyes, when she looked at me, I could see the sincere pain she had.
No one had ever felt sorry for me, no one had ever dared to come close to me whenever I was angry, they always made me believe that I was a monster.
Not even the girls I had fun with would look at me when they noticed my anger, everyone always took to their heels by the mere mention of my name.
And here this girl was, attending to my wounds, and forcing herself to come close to me, after I had pushed her away in my angry state.
"Do you want to die?" I asked her and she paused for a moment. Stopping herself from blowing on my wounds, and gearing her attention towards my face.
"I should be asking you that…look how much blood you have lost" she looked at me for a while and then averted her gaze, before she continued tendering to my wounds.
"You didn't answer my question. Do you want to die?" I asked her again, this time taking my hand away from hers.
"Why do you hurt yourself so much?" She mastered the courage to ask me back.
"Because that is all I can do…hurt people, I can only hurt people and destroy them.
If I can't hurt a particular person, then I would have to hurt myself" I spoke to her with a straight face.
"That's not true" she placed her soft palm on my face and caressed my cheek.
"IT IS TRUE" I shouted at her.
"It isn't" she replied almost immediately and in the same tone as well. Causing a loud silence.
"If it isn't true, then tell me what is? If it isn't true, then tell me why you always get scared and stammer whenever you get close to me?.
Why does everyone refer to me as a Demon? Tell me" I looked at her, then looked away almost immediately after breaking the unbearable silence in the room.
"That's because I didn't know you. I…I…I let the rumors get to my head. I let what people said about you affect me more than what I was seeing.
You are not a bad person, and I regret ever listening to what people say.
I think you should stop listening to them as well, so you can see the real you" she spoke very softly, in the hopes that her words were going to get to me.
"GET OUTTA MY ROOM!!" I sent her away in anger and resentment. I expected her to put up a fight and tell me no, but she quietly left just like the rest. I almost thought she was different, she is just the same, like the rest of them.
