Marriage Prison Chapter 33

Danas was surprised by the presence of Jagad who suddenly stood behind her. Of course, she was also worried that what she was talking about with Renata was overheard by that man. Jagad actually looked at Danas for a longer time before he answered. Jagad wanted to gauge how Danas would react when he found out that he was listening to everything. "Yes, I apologize. I overheard your conversation," he said softly. Danas' eyes immediately rounded again at Jagad's confession. What she talked about with Renata was not a joke but a big secret. "Danas, you can't just stay silent and surrender like that. You've got to reveal the truth. I'll tell Melvin that you're innocent!" Jagad's voice was fierce as he took out his cell phone again. Jagad wanted to tell Melvin what he had heard. Jagad's fingers moved to open the screen of his cell phone but was hurriedly held back by Danas. "Don't! I hope you don't do it." Danas forbade her. The look in her eyes was half-begging Jagad to undo her intention. Her hand moved quickly to close the cell phone in Jagad's hand. Jagad raised one eyebrow, he needed an explanation why Danas forbade him to do that. "Why not? He must know." Danas shook her head repeatedly. Jagad could see the grim look on Danas' face. "It's useless to tell Melvin, he won't believe me." Jagad couldn't accept Danas' decision. For him, it's very unfair. The guilty one was actually Renata, but it was Danas who got labeled as a murderer. "Danas, what you did doesn't make sense. I can't let an innocent person suffer for someone else's sin." Jagad said that solemnly, he couldn't understand the woman in front of him. Danas shook her head again. This time even harder. "No, don't. This is not the way to unmask Renata. If you say it now, not only will Melvin not believe you, it will definitely be a problem for me as well." Danas had a special reason for saying that. She knew very well that Melvin's torment on her would be multiplied because he thought that she had slandered her lover. "So what are you going to do now? Let Renata treat you like that. Melvin who keeps making you confess to things you didn't do?" asked Jagad with some disappointment. He sighed uneasily. Danas then lowered her head and squeezed her fingers, she also felt stuck and hadn't found an idea to reveal the real incident. Unconsciously her head shook weakly. "I-I don't know either." Jagad ruffled his hair, his head suddenly dizzy. He never expected to find such severe problems from Danas. Why did he continue to be with her? "How long do I have to keep this secret?" asked Jagad. In the end, he thought that Danas knew better. He would know when to reveal the facts. "In time, it will be revealed. For now, I just want my life to be safe for a while," said Danas. She wasn't ready to face the consequences if Melvin found out what really happened. Her emotions that were still forgetting could jeopardize the safety of her soul. "Alright, I trust you. If you need my help, you can come to me anytime. I will try to support you as much as I can." Jagad offered to help Danas wholeheartedly. Danas was touched by this. Her lips published a faint smile as she gave a small nod. "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. I owe you a lot." "I'll wait, just in case there's anything, you have to contact me. Promise?" Jagad felt a very strong urge to help Danas, whatever the woman wanted. Another feeling within Jagad began to develop. The deeper he got to know Danas, the more he wanted to protect her and never let her suffer. Both of them were silent until Danas realized one thing. "Wait, how did you know about Renata?" Jagad took a breath and smiled slightly. "I'm her friend, of cause I know." Danas looked upset. If Jagad was Renata's friend, shouldn't they be defending each other? "How do you know Renata?" "I'm Melvin's friend," the man replied making Danas round her eyes. Danas widened her eyes, she was surprised this time too. Jagad was their friend. This world seemed as wide as a moringa leaf. Jagad had been involved in his personal problems several times. "Are you Melvin's friend?" asked Danas stammeringly. Jagad nodded his head, then pulled Danas' hand, making her startled. "What are you doing?" Danas was shocked by Jagad's behavior. She shook off her hand quickly for fear of being seen by others. Seeing Danas' seemingly uncomfortable response, Jagad hurriedly apologized to her. "Apologize, I didn't mean anything bad to you. I just wanted to tell Melvin the truth," Jagad said. Danas still shook her head. " Once I say don't, please don't do it. I've got my own way of exposing Renata's behavior." Danas widened her eyes, she was also surprised this time. Jagad was their friend. This world seemed as wide as a moringa leaf. Jagad had been involved in his personal problems several times. " You've known them for a long time?" asked Danas as he started to leave the place. Jagad followed him. While walking slowly, the two continued their conversation. "Not bad, I've known him since childhood," Jagad answered as he recalled the times he was with his two friends. Danas listened with mixed thoughts. If they turned out to be friends, could this Jagad be trusted? What if he turned out to be defending Renata? "Don't worry, you can trust me." Jagad's answer erased the doubts in Danas' heart. He was a man he could talk to when it came to his problems with Renata and Melvin. "Alright, I trust you." "I won't tell Melvin this secret. I know you understand the situation better." Jagad appreciated Danas' decision not to tell Melvin the truth about what happened. It even touched Jagad's heart. "Danas you shouldn't have done this. If I were you, I'd act quickly to finish off the real culprit," Jagad said while holding back his anger. His hands were clenched tightly. Jagad silently glanced at Danas who was still walking with his head down beside her. Jagad was getting more and more compassionate. He couldn't believe that an innocent woman had to bear the consequences of a woman who was so greedy. "Danas, I'm sorry I can't promise to stay silent forever. I can't see you being a scapegoat for the mistakes made by Renata. In time, I will tell Melvin what really happened. I will also clear your good name." Jagad's words made Danas stop and stiffen midway. "Did you really mean it?!" Danas also stopped and then stood up straight to look at Danas. "I just want you to be happy," Jagad reassured Danas, the woman she had fallen in love with.
