Alex never thought that he would finish this even became impatient, became emotional and desperately wanted to get angry just out of jealousy. Being angry with jealousy is probably a natural thing if we already like someone very much, don’t you think? Then the bell rang, the teacher who was teaching in front of the class ended his class and left the class. The sound of a sigh of relief was heard obviously filling the classroom.
Everyone seemed busy tidying up their books and then going out of class. Only Alex sits still while staring at Ruby. Ruby, who didn’t realize she was packing her book, then when she stood up and was about to leave Alex grabbed her hand and held her back. Ruby turns to Alex as she looks at him with a look of wonder and wonder.
Alex’s silence for a few seconds makes Ruby even more wondering. But from Alex’s eyes she could see the seriousness in it. Alex’s twinkling eyes could hold Ruby back. Stay in place until everyone has left, and it’s just the two of them in the classroom.
“ I thought you already knew, but I needed to say it to make it all clear. Ruby, I like you and I know you’ve always wanted me to be your friend. But I’m sorry, I can’t stop liking you more than friends. I think I love you.” Alex said he looked Ruby in the eye.
Ruby fell silent and couldn’t say anything. An acknowledgment of Alex’s love feels so sudden that she doesn’t know how to respond. Even though she’s known that for a long time. Alex’s gentle and friendly attitude to her, treating Alex just for her to make Ruby know Alex’s feelings.
Even so, Ruby has tried to pretend not to notice any of it. She even tries to be mediocre and often she tries to upset Alex, hoping that Alex’s feelings can change. Hoping that Alex could give up and like someone else. Even to be honest Ruby never thought that Alex would love her and when that happened it scared her.
The fear came and filled her heart. This may sound like an excuse, but her biggest worry is that she can’t accept Alex’s love. The more Alex shows his love, the more Ruby gets scared. Scared and anxious that she didn’t have the courage to achieve the love Alex gave her.
Meanwhile, a passing Helena sees Alex and Ruby talking together in class. Curiosity makes Helena stop and hide behind a wall and eavesdrop on the conversation between the two of them. Helena also knew that whatever she was going to hear would only hurt her. Still, she couldn’t stop herself from being curious and kept eavesdropping while hiding behind walls.
“ Every time I see you with that guy Ricky, I get and furious. I know I still don’t have the right to be angry, but seeing you smile and be happy with him drives me feel so upset that it feels like I’m going crazy. You’re so spoiled and comfortable with him, it drives me feel crazy because I think you like him...” Said Alex let out all his feelings even his tone rose and his eyes looked a little flushed.
“Yes, I love him.” Ruby’s brief and flat-looking words make Alex look at Ruby with a shocked and speech-free stare.
Even when Alex has gone to great lengths to tell her how he feels that he can’t be calm anymore, Ruby’s straight, calm answer even feels as if Alex’s sincerity says his feelings mean nothing to her. Helena, eavesdropping, is shocked to hear how Ruby rejects Alex with a brief word straight to her point.
“ So, I want you to forget everything. Whatever you feel for me, just wipe it all out because it means nothing to me. I already have someone I love, and we love each other, so I wish you to just give up and don’t create any problems for us.” Answer Ruby again
Ruby’s words were so piercing and left Alex speech-free. Ruby’s cold stare seems to tell him that Alex’s feelings mean nothing. It made Alex feel hurt and even he wanted to cry, but Alex held him back. Alex was eager to hold Ruby’s hand and beg, but Alex realized it wouldn’t mean anything. Alex fell silent and just bowed his head. He felt sad and couldn’t bear to look at Ruby.
It also annoyed the eavesdropping Helena to hear Ruby’s words. Helena couldn’t believe Ruby could so say all that and hurt Alex. Helena doesn’t accept someone she loved being hurt by Ruby. She became so angry that she couldn’t help herself anymore. Helena walks into the class and slaps Ruby so hard that Ruby and Alex are shocked. Ruby could only hold her a sore cheek and look at Helena with a shocked look.
“ How can you say all that? Alex has been very sincere in loving you but you’re treating him like this!” said Helena with her eyes bulging.
“ What are you doing here? Go,” he replied. Alex said while pulling Helena, but Helena pulled over Alex’s hand and looked at Alex.
“ Why, why? You even want to defend her after she’s done all this to you. She toyed with your feelings, was nice and always put on her innocent face and now when you like her, she says she loves other people and hurts you with her words. Why do you still want to defend her?” replied Helena as she stared at Alex with her eyes filled with tears.
“ Then what am I supposed to say? From the beginning, I just thought of him as my friend. A friend said he liked me, should I reciprocate his feelings and say I like him too, when in fact I love other people. Isn’t that worse? I’d rather be honest than be a good person.” Ruby replied.
Helena stares at Ruby with a stare of disbelief even as she squeals. But Helena can’t tell anything either. Helena is very upset that Ruby has hurt Alex, but what Ruby says doesn’t feel wrong either. Even so, Helena remains angry with Ruby because Ruby has hurt the man she loves.
“ Please stop, Ruby’s right. I should have known this when I decided to express my feelings.” Alex said in a loud and weak voice.
