Deangelo.
We have remained abroad for what just seems to draw out as years to me but I tried as hard as I could to focus on everything more important, anything at all as long as it was not Elena. But I would be lying if I said that I succeeded in that aspect in anyway, not even after the episode that we both had the previous night.
She had been engraved in my mind, soul and body since then and I could only kind of get her out only for a few minutes and that was always after I had scolded myself so much for obsessing over everything that has to do with her. The way that she always managed to make me feel so giddy and childish had made me conclude that i was simply acting like a teenager who had just found his first crush.
Ugh!
I was busy reading a book about finance I could literally not give two fucks about on a normal day if not for boredom and the zeal to act busy and engross myself in anything at all when Luca walked into the room.
“I am done with my investigation on that man that attacked Elena that night, alpha and there is a particular part that I just can not seem to get my head around so well because it is just so confusing.” He said to me and I immediately took off my reading glasses and then out the book down alongside with the glasses.
Even though I had been having so much headache from all the internal conflict that always seemed to go on and on within me, especially the part where I had even started to feel such tremendous guilt for calling her that way and then proceeding to use her for my pleasure like that as if she was some cheap prostitute. Now, my beta and best friend telling me that he finally got some answers and potential violence had given me the renewed energy and boost that I actually needed and craved.
The Amato park faction that we had encountered since we got here were all fringe weaklings who had turned their back on their alpha as soon as their lives were at stake, heck! They had even turn their backs without batting an eyelid as soon as money was involved, so it was really so easy to destroy them and it simply wet my appetite for more violence rather satiating it as I had hoped.
“What part do you not understand though, Luca? I am all hears.” I said as I sit up, eager to know whose head I am going to be snapping off the neck soon enough.
“I did my findings, alpha and I am almost very certain that this man was paid to attack Elena but the Amato pack but what I do not understand however is why they could have just decided to target the nanny of the pack out of the blues when they could have easily gone for anybody else. It just does not make any sense to me, I feel like there are certain loopholes but I can not seem to connect and make any sense out of them.” He explained and I sighed.
“I don’t think we need to put too much thinking into the fact that she was randomly chosen though, Luca. Have you forgotten the people that we are dealing with? It is the Amato pack and you of all people should know that they would choose anyone who is close to me no matter what. Everyone i my pack is a target regardless of their position in my life, they do not care.” I responded and he immediately shook his head and then scoffed, “I do not think so at all, Deangelo.”
Luca disagreed adamantly as he switches to friend mode like a switch, “we both know the Amato pack too, and I will like to remind you that they are strategic with their own attacks, we have a lot of family and weakness so they go for our heart robs and important people in our lives. Which means that they could have easily gone for me that night since I was there or even anyone at that. I have been with you the longest among everyone at the party and I would be the one whose death would obviously hurt you more, so they could have just gone for me. Why did it have to be Elena?”
I smiled,”you give yourself too much importance. I am sure I would not give two fucks if you fell and died that day. Go to hell!” I teased him and he merely rolled his eyes then glared at me, indirectly telling me that I was taking an important issue as a joke.
“Stop playing around, Deangelo. We all know that you care about me no matter how much you act like you don’t, we have been together for so long and-”
“Ugh! The way you say that in such a poetic manner like we have some romantic relationship. And you need to calm down, I was the one being so paranoid before and now, it seems to be replaced by you.” I said as I stood up and then, I continued, “We should probably just ask Elena more questions directly instead of making all of these hypothesis, that’s all. Why on earth would the Amato pack be after Elena.”
I said all of these even though my heart was racing so fast, wondering if they could already tell that Elena meant something much more to me in such a short amount of time.
I do not think that I wold be able to even recover this time if something happens to her too. She has grown to mean a lot to me than I would imagine and I fear that i would end up tearing things apart if any more loss is done to my pack, I would just end myself before he does.
I looked back at Luca and I immediately knew that we had done enough here, “It is time to go home.”
