I took a deep drag on my cigar, enjoying the rich, smoky flavor as I lounged in the plush armchair. The room was filled with beautiful women, all dressed in elegant gowns and dripping with jewels. The air was thick with the scent of expensive cigars and fine wine, and I felt a sense of satisfaction wash over me.
But my peace was soon interrupted as the door bursted open and Bruno Amato stormed in, shouting obscenities in a mix of Italian and English. I felt a frown form on my face as I took in his flushed complexion, the veins on his head standing out vividly, and the sweat pouring down his face. I knew better than to ask what the problem is, but I did it anyway, knowing full well that it was only going to make things worse.
"You seem agitated. What's the problem, alpha?" I asked, trying to keep my voice calm.
"That traitor, Deangelo. He's been poking his nose where it doesn't belong again." he said still pacing back and forth.
"What do you mean?" I asked, even though I was not all the way interested.
"The plan to attack Elena failed, and Luca is looking into it. It's only a matter of time before they find out it was us who paid off the bartender." He explained.
I could immediately feel my blood boiling at the mention of Deangelo and his pack. They had been our rivals for years, and I have lost many friends and loved ones to their vicious attacks.
I knew that Luca is not to be underestimated, and so I needed to caution Bruno about mentioning the Ferrari pack's so casually. “You need to tone it down with the way we speak about them, you know those people have spies in every crook and cranny, let me at least make sure that the coast is clear first.” I said to him and then turned to the ladies in the room with me.
“Ladies, please, leave for now. I will send someone to call you back in when it is time, I have business to attend to right now” I said to them and they all filed out, afterwards, I faced Bruno squarely. “Relax, Alpha. Elena is no use to anyone. Even if she did spill our secrets, they won't mean anything to the Ferrari pack."
"Maybe but what if she manages to seduce Deangelo and get close to him though?"
"Hmm, I see what you're saying. Elena is beautiful, and she might have succeeded in that even.” I said even though it was making my blood boil just to keep saying things like this, i could not just imagine that my woman was under any other man, but then an idea came to me.
“You know, if she can make Deangelo fall for her, she might actually be of use to us to make him weak and attack as usual." I said.
"What? Really? Will she even want to help us? And if she comes back to us after sleeping with Deangelo, would you even accept her?" He asked and I scowled.
"What kind of question is that, alpha? I would never accept anyone's sloppy seconds and definitely not Deangelo’s. Maybe I can just give her to my men to ruin whatever is left of her though. Deangelo is as good as dead the moment he took Elena into his pack." I said as I tamed down the urge to simply rip Bruno’s throat apart. I secretly hate the old man so much but I knew that it was not yet time to eliminate him, so I simply needed to tolerate him until I can not anymore and I know that the time for that was very near, just a little more patience is needed.
I poured him a drink which he finished in a second but he was still nowhere near relaxed.
“You don’t think she can be on their side now and even be planning our end with them, do you? We never treated her right, what if she decides to take this path as a revenge on us?” The old man said again and I rolled my eyes without a care. He was being such a scaredy cat and I could not believe that he was still the alpha of our pack when he should be in some retirement home already! The man did not even see any need to let go of the power already.
Stupid old man! And he would be so scared of course! He never treated his own daughter well and was always focused on power and winning, it was not really a surprise that he is so scared of what she could do, she could as well decide to end his filthy life and I would not blame her.
“There is nothing Elena can do, alpha! You need to calm your nerves! She would nt even dare mention to Deangelo that she is from our pack, I tell you that! Those people will slit her throat before she even has the chance to explain shit to them. She is naive not dumb and stupid!” I said.
“But I think you should accept her back, I am sure she would be sensible now.” He said and I could not hold back my rage anymore.
I just could not believe the audacity of his statement. I launched a bottle of champagne across the room in rage. I would never accept anyone's sloppy seconds.
But Bruno just laughed, taunting me with my jealousy. I could not stand the sight of him, but I knew that it is not yet time to eliminate him. I would tolerated him for the sake of our pack's unity and survival.
As I sat there, seething with rage and frustration, I could not help but wonder how we got to this point. How did we become so consumed with power and control that the alpha is willing to use his own daughter as a pawn in our game of war?
But for now, I pushed these thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand. We needed to come up with a new plan, a way to take down the Ferrari pack and regain our upper hand. And I knew that I will do whatever it takes to get this pack in my palms and get that stupid Elena right back!
As I left the smoking room, I could not help but feel a sense of dread and unease. The future was uncertain, and the stakes were high. But I knew that I would do whatever it took to survive and thrive in this dangerous world of wolf packs and power struggles.
