ELENA.
I knew that it could be anybody at the door but for some reason, I believed that it had to be the alpha, this was his room after all.
“Uh... come on in.” I said and the person opened the door and walked in, as I had expected, it was of course the alpha.
My heart thumped in my chest and I was suddenly feeling light-headed. He was completely calm as his eyes raked over my body, while I was practically hyperventilating. “Well?”
My body shivered at his voice and I licked my lips nervously. When I saw his eyes following the movement, I quickly sucked my tongue back in and pressed my lips tight together.
“I… I… am sorry about the uh...” I stumbled over my words, but then Mr. Deangelo kicked the door close, locked it and even pocketed the key.
Slowly bringing my eyes up to his face, I let out a gasp when I met his fierce glare. His eyes glowed with such ferocity that it took my breath away. His dark presence loomed over me, dread filling me as my spine prickled with unease. The tiny hairs on my arms and the back of my neck stood up straight and my skin itched.
Mr. Deangelo stalked towards me and I whimpered as I stared into his cold eyes. I had seen him angry before, but this time, he looked deadly. His blue eyes crackled with fury, his face red, and his jaw twitched. The alpha standing before me was ruthless, and I could see the killer he truly was— the monster I had always heard about. And there I was, trapped in the lair of the monster everyone feared.
Mr. Deangelo on seeing that me keep backing away from him in fear, suddenly cursed loudly and punched the wall beside him. “Are you scared of me? Elena, are you still scared of me? Do you still think that I can hurt you?” He asked me in a very soft voice that was in contrast with his violent display.
I shook my head no but it did not seem like he believed me at all, he took another menacing step towards me, his face looked feral almost as if his wolf was about to come out but he moved forward towards me again and I immediately get flashbacks of Salvatore.
I didn’t know what came over me, but I started crawling toward the bathroom door, trying to escape the man before me, all I could see on his face was Salvatore. My harsh gasps filled the room, and through blurry vision, I made it to the door. I pulled myself upward and opened it. Swallowing hard, I stumbled outside and fell down. My legs wouldn’t hold me up.
I needed to breathe, when I reached the bathtub that I wanted. My heart clenched tight. I wheezed, my lungs fighting against the air I was taking. I choked on my breath as I tried to stand up. Holding onto the door, I dragged myself up and collapsed against it.
“no, no,” I whispered, my eyes rolling back in my head as I started to to breathe properly. My hand slapped against the tub. I could barely move my hands but I tried.
I saw Mr. Deangelo walk into the bathroom and my head grew even more dizzy when I saw him giving me a sweet smile. My legs gave out, but before I could fall on the floor, he rushed forward and grabbed onto my arms, pulling me into him. He cradled me to his chest, and I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck and held on, scared he would let me go.
“It’s okay. I got you,” he whispered, walking to my bed and gently placing me down.
He sat on the bathtub, he looked up and our gazes met. I froze when I saw his eyes glistening with emotion. Leaning forward, he gently grabbed my hands and placed them on his knees. I hissed unconsciously and he quickly mumbled, “Sorry.”
Did he really say that?
He then pulled off his jacket and placed around me as if trying to stop my shivering, the alpha confused me. One minute he was kind, and the next he was cold and angry. I pulled his suit jacket tighter around my body. It still felt warm from his body heat. The smell of his cologne touched my nose and I let out a sigh.
I opened my eyes and stared at him. Why was he doing this? My heart stuttered when he brought my wrists up and placed a single kiss on each of them. My mouth hung open. This wasn’t actually happening, right?
“I’m sorry, Elena, I am so so sorry for shouting at you and scaring you like that, I did not mean to, I just do not understand why you are scared of me and I really want to...” Mr. Deangelo said against my wrist. I stopped breathing for a second. He apologized to me. The Ferrari pack alpha, Deangelo Ferrari, a man who probably never uttered the word sorry to anyone, had just apologized to me.
I was in a state of shock. My heart was beating wildly in my chest and I fought to breathe. He looked up at me and my body started to warm up under his soft gaze.
I started to relax in his arms as he continued to kiss me on my forehead and hair very softly, it was nothing short of funny and unexpected on my path, I knew that if anybody walked in on us looking and acting this way, they were definitely going to get the wildest conclusion, heck! Even I was getting the wildest conclusion.
Could the alpha care about me? In a way that I have never seen coming? Or was this just another man trying to stake a claim on me and use me to his satisfaction?
Whatever the case may be, it made absolutely no sense and I would just not allow myself to be played around by another dangerous man, not now, not again, not ever.
