Living with an enemy Chapter 56

DEANGELO. As soon as everybody saw me at the edge of the stairs, they all turned to look in my direction in such a dramatic way that got me thinking that they had just heard me get accused of killing Elena. “Is this even true, alpha?” Sofia asked first, looking like she would be elate if that was the truth rather than being actually concerned. I rolled my eyes at her. “Is Elena okay, alpha? She seemed very fine when she was with me just now, what went wrong so fast?” Camila asked too. “Oh! Come on, girls! You all should know how how dramatic and exaggerating Mia could be by now, we all know that alpha would never harm anybody in his pack, we need to calm down before pointing accusatory fingers at our beloved alpha.” Mrs. Cali said. Finally, someone with some sense among them all! I was starting to get stressed at how they had just started to lash out at me, almost forgetting that it was the Deangelo Ferrari that they were talking to not just any werewolf. My mind was even too preoccupied to scold them or anything relating to that. “So tell us alpha, what happened to Elena?” Mrs. Cali directed at me. “Well, since you are wise enough to ask politely and respectfully unlike these other people, I would like to let you know that she is fine. We were talking and then she went into panic mode just because I told her to shut up, just when i thought she was finally calming down after I successfully calmed her down, she suddenly fainted too. I think it was just the impact of what happened to her the previous night, I think she still gets flashes from that night which has left her with this trauma such that a slight increase in your voice or tone can get her to snap like this. Lesson learnt.” I explained to them all and they all stared at me like I just said that pigs could fly or like I had suddenly grown two horns on my head. They of course did not believe me by the looks on their faces and so I just had to give up on trying to convince them, I mean what good will it even do when they have obviously decided within themselves to just believe my oversensitive daughter over me. Sometimes, I am convinced that my pack do not fear me the way they seem to act to sometimes, would I be trying to convince them if they did. Would they not have to take whatever I say for whatever I say it is as it should be but then I would not stoop that low and use that alpha tone or hand on them. Whether or not they choose to believe their alpha is their choice. “Well, I will go and see her to make sure that she is fine.” Camila said as she proceeded to bypass me and go up the stairs to Elena’s room but I immediately steeped in front of her to obstruct her passageway and stop her from doing so. “No, Camila. I will go back to see her myself but for now, just let her be, I think she needs this alone time.” I said and she looked at me in a suspicious manner. Diego however started to have his usual episode just as soon as I proceed to go into my study, “Did Ms. Elena fall sick again? Is she dead?” He questioned as he began to cry. Before I could move towards him to calm him down, Sofia did before me but then he flinched at her touch, “Leave me alone, I want Ms. Elena. Where is she?” He cried as he rushed up the stairs but I was able to get him easily of course, and I brought him back down the stairs. He proceeded to throw tantrums of course but I knew calming and babying him was not going to keep working for this acts of his so I needed to set him straight once and for all. “Look at me, Diego. People fall sick, it is very normal, just the same way that you do. It does jto in any way signify or mean that the person is going to die, okay? Sometimes, all they need to do is to rest or take certain drugs and they will be fine, that is the same issue with Ms. Elena. She is not dead, neither is she doing to die for any reason, she is fine!” I explained sternly and then, I continued, “how about this, when she wakes up, I will call you first and you will see her but right now, she needs to be left alone, we do not want to disturb her beauty sleep for any reason, okay?” I was finally able to convince them all and soon, he nodded calmly and walked away with Sofia who I could see, already whispering somethings to Mia about whatever, but I could not care less. ELENA. I opened my eyes to find Diego crying softly beside my bed and I was confused as I looked around my room, “Diego? Are you alright? Why are you crying?” I questioned and as soon as Diego heard my voice, he is very ecstatic and he basically climbed all over me, peppering me with kisses and I giggled like a child through it all. “Alright, alright, Diego, you act like I have been gone for so long, are you okay now?” I said as I slowly remembered what had happened to me and how I had been so scared and terrified all because the alpha had told me to shut up, I could not believe that I had behaved so horribly towards Mr. Deangelo. ‘Do I even still have a job here at this point, after all of that drama just before I passed out?’ I thought as I realized just how bad Salvatore and my pack had ruined me, I also noticed that I was in the Alpha’s bed and that gave me a little bit of hope. Diego's noise alerted the rest of the house and they all came in to greet me, Sofia was the first one to come in, hurrying across the door and holding my hand as if we were best of friends. She also shed a few fake tears which I ignored. “Oh god! I was so scared for you, are you okay now? Why do these things keep happening to you? Are you sure that there is not something else wrong, other than the sexual molestation one, I mean. This is just so bad and serious, I want the best for you and seeing you like this is nothing short of scary and worrisome.” She said with the usual facade of concern written all over her face, she acts like nobody can see through her bullshit and I never bother to act like I do. Better to fool the fool that thinks she is fooling you, right? All attempts to retrieve my hand back from her hands was in vain so I just decided to ignore her instead. Camila and Mrs. Cali brought in delicacies for me as if they had known that I must be starving and I was more than grateful for their intuitions. Luca was a brooding presence by the door and he said nothing, only watching me with an intensity that I found unnerving, so to distract myself, I looked around for the alpha but seeing that he was no where to be found, my heart sank. It also seemed like I was not the only person who noticed his absence around here because Sofia also looked around the exact same way that I did and then she broke into a smile, one that it was obvious that she was trying to hide but I had seen it just fine. I suddenly felt like crying for some weird reason. Camila seemed to immediately notice my mood and hurried everyone out of the room, making up a silly excuse. Sofia looked even more gleeful and that just succeeded in making me even more upset. Diego was more reluctant to let go of me as usual but Luca took hold of the boy and marched him away. Once alone, I pushed aside the tray of food; it looked delicious but I could not just get any appetite for it. I proceeded to grab a tissue for myself but just then a knock sounded on the door.
