Living with an enemy Chapter 35

Deangelo. “Please,” a voice murmured, snapping my attention to the middle of the circle that had some dusts sprinkled, and in the circle was a man breathing heavily while standing with a tight chain, which was attached to the ceiling, wrapped around his neck. His fingers were digging into the metal and trying to rip it off. He huffed in exasperation. “Can’t shift, Bryan?” I smirked. He licked his dry lips, shifting a little, his bare feet slapping against the concrete while he extended one of his hands to me and croaks, “Please, Deangelo. Please, I am not even part of the Amato pack anymore, I am a changed wolf and I haven’t even seen them in years.” The pleading in his voice ignited the familiar excitement at the pit of my stomach, yet it extinguished quickly with the boredom that had lately been my constant companion. The last month had gone by with little to no progress concerning finding weaknesses against Bruno and his pack. I walked to the table and grabbed a bottle of tequila before pouring a generous amount into my glass while he continued to beg. “I can even tell you where and how to get bruno.” I heard the clanking of the chain as I took a greedy gulp of my drink, closing my eyes when the burning substance traveled through me, the taste grounding me in the present and blocking away everything else. Slamming the glass back on the table, I spinned around to face him again with a wide smile on my lips. I barely controlled myself from killing him with one single shot, as his annoying voice grated on my nerves. “What makes you think I care about something you know or do not know? What even makes you think that the fact that the fact that you are not apart of them anymore vindicates you or suddenly makes you free?” I asked him, picking up the bottle and slowly going back to him, my boots thumping on the floor and making him blink with each of my steps. “I did not do anything to your wife, deangelo. I was not even a part of it, I know nothing about it.” He licked his lips before crying out in pain yet still finding the will to continue. “I have wife and children too, Deangelo, I would never do that. My wife just gave birth last week too.” When one continues to repeatedly annoy the fuck out of you, what can you possibly do? “Bryan, Bryan, Bryan,” I said, grabbing a serrated knife coated in salt and walked toward him, my boots thumping so loud his shoulders sag as he watched me warily. “Are you sure lying is the way to go? I already don’t have much value for your life, you know?” He opened his mouth to say something, only to scream when I put the knife to his lips, enjoying how the salt obviously made the sting intensify. His lips became redder, a little blood slipping from them before I took the knife back and trailed the tip of it to his artery, right above his pulse point. He went still, not even breathing, his eyes so full of fear I could almost taste it. “I’m going to ask again, and this time around, I expect an answer.” I traced the knife to his collarbone and then lower to dig the tip into his stomach, voicing my question. “Did you or did you not give the location of my wife to Amato pack?” Bryan swallowed hard, staying silent far too fucking long for my liking, so I stabbed him hard in the stomach, and his agonized cry reverberated around the space before I pulled back and stab him again, this time lower, enjoying how the blood poured from the wound. Leaving the knife inside, I snapped my fingers in front of his nose while he opened and closed his mouth, unable to utter a single word. “You just don’t appreciate the generosity I’m showing you, Bryan.” Strolling to the desk a few feet away from me, I slid my fingers over several bottles, carefully reading all the descriptions and musing over which one was better to use on him. Finally settling on my choice, I put leather gloves on, and I wrapped my hand around it, pouring the substance into the glass before adding water to it. It flashed a little, bubbling before fully dissolving, and I grinned, anticipating my next action. “You must be thirsty, Bryan,” I said as I lifted the glass to his mouth, ordering, “Drink.” He shook his head, his eyes begging me not to do this. I chuckle, gripping his chin between my fingers, pressing on his jaw so hard I almost break it, and forcefully push the water into him before closing his mouth and nose so he had no choice but to swallow if he wants to breathe. Funny thing about death? No one wants to face it. Even in the most despicable of times of despair where you lie in your own vomit and wish for the ground to open up and dump you somewhere… you still breathe and wish, wish so fucking much to live, it’s astonishing. Throwing the glass to his feet too, I contemplated another weapon, when his voice penetrated through the fog of my musing. “I have something you might want to know about bruno, something that only his pack knows.” His head snapped to the side when I slam my fist into him, stepping on his foot, I appreciated how his toes crunched under my heavy boot and tears rapidly slid down his cheek. “I don’t care whatever you have to say, Bryan. You lost that priviledge.” Every choice we make has consequences. And all the choices Bryan have made led him to this moment. Pleasure spread through me as I deliver blow after blow, before his eyes permanently still in pain and he stopped breathing. Dropping the blood-coated blade on the floor,I glanec at a message I had gotten from Luca on my phone, and a smile tugged at the corner of my mouth. I removed the gloves, throwing them in a trashcan, and walked toward the sink to wash away any traces of Bryan, the fucker who had a hand in my wife’s ambush. As I walked out of the basement, I thought of the message that Luca had sent me and my kids who were still throwing tantrums concerning Elena’s dissapearance, the message from Luca was him sending me the location of Elena. Honestly, I had acted like I did not give two fucks about Elena saying she was leaving because at that moment, I just didn’t and I thought that the fact that she offered to leave all by herself meant that it was giving me the chance to get rid of her as soon as I could. Having all of those thoughts about her and fantasizing continously about her made me feel guilty during my wife’s anniversary. I had promised not to feel the way I felt with her with anybody else and Elena’s existence had just pushed me to ruining that promise so easily. Jules did not deserve to get forgotten so easily and I do not want to go through the same mistake that had cost me my dear wife and our princess. But seeing how my kids had reacted to it had me thinking that I just had to get her back, I mean, from our agreement, she did not even have that right to decide to leave just like that in the first place. So after telling my gammas to take care of Bryan’s body, I got into my car in search of Elena and in no time, I found the address that Luca had sent me, but then it was quite confusing because the area was just full of beggers and homeless people, it didnt even look like a place any sane person will be in. I got out of my car and looked around in search of a certain petite body and pretty face but I found it hard to find one that fitted the description, not until I noticed a few people gattered on someone asking for stuffs I couldn’t comprehend. That was when I saw her, dressed in a long ripped dress with mask and scarf covering her face. And the dreadful sight caused sudden anger to run through me.
