Rory's POV
Four years ago Flashback
"Let her go." Ginger said, hurrying over to me as the door shut, "you don't need her.."
She was wrong, I needed Taylor I needed her like the air I breathe, I needed her 'cause I realised I was dead without her.
"Come, let me help you get cleaned up." She took my hand and began pulling me with her towards the bathroom, but I yanked it away from her hand and stepped back from her.
"What you need to do is help yourself out of my house and never come back," I told her before walking away from her.
I speeded into my room and once I was in, I threw on my t-shirt and my jean trousers and I run back to the living room and I'm relieved that I didn't see the trace of Ginger anywhere in the room. I quickly went and grabbed my keys and when I had, I ran to the door. I was eager to catch up to Taylor and apologize and ask her to forgive me for my tactless use of words.
I had hurt her terribly and I could not play the victim while Taylor kept getting hurt by me. I was going to apologise and I was going to listen to her own truth.
As I opened the door, I'm greeted by Paul Allen, Paris's dad. He was standing there in a neatly pressed three-piece black suit and trousers and he's holding one of those his stern look when he was trying to assume the superior role. The last thing I wanted to do was to be held back by him.
I scratch my head and not willing to let him, "Good day, Mr Allen, it's nice to meet you, but I am on my way out."
"I see that, but I'd advise you to suspend that and pay attention to every word I have to say." he pointed out ignoring my words as if I said nothing.
I grunted impatiently, the longer I stood there talking to him the farther away Taylor was getting, "Can't it wait? This is really important to me"
He pushed past me and made his way further into the room like he owned the house and angrily I closed the door and followed him. "If you're referring to your slut called Taylor, she's the least of my priorities right now."
My cheeks heated up in anger and my hands ball into a fist, "She the top of mine and she's not a slut. I'd like to go now." I turned around and walked to the door. I pull at the doorknob and opened the door, and I'm about to step out when he speaks again this time with more firmness and intimidating.
"If you step your feet out of this house, I'll make sure that she dies alongside everyone she cares about." he threatened with a hard tone of voice.
I paused at the door and turned to him. "Are you threatening me?" I demanded with a frown on my face as I glared at him.
I couldn't believe the point that this evil man in my house was taking his threat to and it made my blood boils.
He shrugged casually, "No, Rory, I'm telling you so you know what choice to make. You can choose to go after her, but just know that her blood will be on your hands and you know I don't make empty threats."
"Why would I believe you?" I demanded, my teeth tightly gritted.
"It's simple, Rory, unlike you, I'm a man of my word."
I've known Paul Allen since I was a child and he was quite known for making his enemies and those he didn't like disappear. I didn't know why dad and Paul were even friends and business partners when they were both completely different people. My father was a good man and his reputation was a great one and his contribution to humanity was impeccable, but Paul was the exact opposite and though there were never proofs of his involvement in those crimes, the rumours always went around. Once I asked dad why he was even with Paul after the many awful happening tied to him and he told me they were partners and have been friends since they were both in high school. He added that friendship like theirs couldn't die because of meaningless rumours.
Those weren't just rumours anymore. Paul just threatened the life of Taylor and the rest of her family.
I was not willing to risk Taylor's life because I wanted to be the tough man.
"Then fine," I let go of the doorknob and turned away from the door. "Happy now?"
He shook his head, "That's not all you're going to do, lover boy," he said, shoving his hands into his pocket.
He knew he had me and hated it.
I glanced at him with hatred and resentment, "What else do you want from me?"
"I want you to reinstate your engagement to my daughter. And you're going to publicly make amends for what you've done with your slut these past few months."
"I'm not doing that and I'm never going to marry your daughter, Paul."
"Oh you will, you will be on your knees proposing to Paris for every making her cry when the right buttons are pressed, you will and luckily your mom knows which to press now."
When later I heard of the death of Martha, Taylor's mother's death, I knew it was because of me. Her blood was on my hands and my conscience and will be for the rest of my life. And I had no choice but to give in to Paul's evil demand and marry his daughter Paris.
