An intense battle had broken out in the short time Zu An and Firework were making their way here. Fire Knight’s group had suffered heavy losses.
The white-robed woman sensed the pair’s arrival and glanced backward. Her gaze mainly fell on Zu An, as she sensed something peculiar about him.
Noticing her lapse in attention, the birdman quickly charged toward the wormhole in the distant wall. He specialized in speed, and he was giving it 120% out of desperation to escape.
Half of his body managed to slip into the wormhole when a sharp wave of sword ki sliced through him. The other half failed to enter the wormhole and squirmed ceaselessly on the spot.
Those in the warehouse gasped.
The half body tried to regenerate, but the sword ki was imbued with peculiar energy that hindered regeneration. Instead, a tinge of gray began spreading from the wound and swiftly enveloped the entire half.
Then, the half disintegrated into dust, not leaving any traces behind.
The remaining people in the warehouse were speechless. The white-robed woman’s blade is terrifying! Wait a moment, she didn’t even draw her sword!
Fire Knight remained on the spot. My foolish third brother. Do you think I would have stayed still if it was possible to escape?
He picked up his crutches and put them together to form a fire lance. Intense flames shrouded his body. They formed new legs that allowed him to stand up and clothed him in fire armor that made him resemble a general on the battlefield. The terrifying pressure he emanated suffocated most of the people in the warehouse.
“It’s been a while since I felt such pressure. Miss, I have you thank you for sparking such excitement in me.” Fire Knight pointed his fire lance at the white-robed woman. “I am Fire Knight. Draw your sword!”
The white-robed woman calmly replied, “You aren’t worthy.”
Fire Knight and the onlookers were speechless.
Big sister Yan is so domineering! Zu An thought.
Firework looked at the white-robed woman in awe and admiration.
Fire Knight sneered in anger, “Very well. Let’s see how much longer you can keep your sword sheathed!”
As he charged at the white-robed woman with his lance, he manifested a giant avatar of a fire-armored general. Together, they thrust their lances toward her.
Employee 9527 was horrified. This isn’t good! He knows he’s doomed, so he’s planning to bring all of us down with him! No matter the outcome of the battle, the spaceship won’t be able to take the brunt of his attack. If the spaceship explodes, no more than a handful of us can survive.
Zu An anxiously placed Firework down by the side and channeled his Taotie’s Heaven-Devouring Sutra. He was trying to absorb the shockwaves of their clash, lest the spaceship be destroyed.
The white-robed woman frowned. She could see through Fire Knight’s intention. She raised her sheath and gently flicked it; her sword popped out by an inch. A cold glint of light shot out.
Much to Fire Knight’s shock, the massive fire avatar imbued with annihilation power was sliced in half. He had no time to react before he was obliterated by the cold glint of light, too. The light harnessed a peculiar power that was able to extinguish the flames, so the disaster was averted.
Those from the Universal Conglomerate cheered in delight, but they soon felt worried, as it struck them that they still didn’t know whether the white-robed woman was friend or foe. Even though she had killed Fire Knight, there was no telling whether she would go after the rest of them, too.
Even Zu An was nervous. He knew he wouldn’t stand much of a chance against the white-robed woman.
Just then, the white-robed woman walked over and carefully assessed him.
Firework nervously spoke up. “Miss, we aren’t from the same group as Fire Knight.”
The white-robed woman ignored her and asked, “Why do you carry nebula power?”
Zu An was stunned. Nebula power? Is she referring to the Taotie’s Heaven-Devouring Sutra? Or was I afflicted with Yan Xuehen’s nebula power due to our frequent bonding?
The white-robed woman carefully examined him before shaking her head. “Perhaps I was seeing things.”
She walked over to Fire Knight’s corpse, picked up the invitation letter that had fallen to the ground, and asked, “This spaceship is heading to Dreamland, right? May I have a room, too?”
Employee 9527 hurriedly nodded. “Of course!”
He’d been worried that the white-robed woman would deal with the rest of them as well, so it was a huge relief to hear her making such a simple request. Did she cause such a huge commotion just to steal Fire Knight’s invitation letter? Wow, Fire Knight is a pitiful one. He wanted to steal the other guests’ invitation letters, only to get robbed himself.
Employee 9527 requested for Zu An to get some antidotes for them from the medical bay. He wouldn’t dare ask the white-robed woman to run an errand for him.
The Universal Conglomerate had prepared antidotes for common poisons. These antidotes weren’t specifically tailored for the octopus demoness’ poison, but at least it would restore their mobility.
Soon, Employee 9527 settled the white-robed woman in the most luxurious guest room. He considered asking the latter about her background, but she showed little interest in conversing with him, so he decided to keep his questions to himself. He stationed staff members near her room to attend to her every need.
Only then did he rush out to meet Zu An. He said amicably, “Pardon me for only attending to you now, Brother Zu.”
Zu An replied with a smile, “Don’t worry about it. It’s important to attend to that lady first, or else she might destroy the spaceship with a slash.”
Employee 9527 smiled sheepishly. “I’m glad you’re so understanding, Brother Zu. I’m truly grateful for your help. We would have all been dead if not for you.”
Zu An clasped his fist and said, “The one who saved you was the white-robed woman.”
Employee 9527 shook his head. “That’s not true. My colleagues and I would have been massacred by those monsters if you hadn’t put your life on the line to protect us before the white-robed woman arrived. Ah, you asked about a mainstream language offline translator earlier. That’s usually worth an exorbitant sum, but I’ll request for one to be given to you for free as compensation.”
Zu An smiled. “There’s no need for it. I’m well-versed in most languages now.”
“Oh? What do you mean by that?” Employee 9527 was confused.
Zu An told Employee 9527 about how Fluttering Baldie had intended to possess him, but it ended with him inheriting Fluttering Baldie’s knowledge about languages instead.
Employee 9527 was appalled to hear that. “That baldie is despicable! He’s a disgrace to all Deity of Knowledge worshipers!”
