Sia's POV
Everyone was very happy, even me. But I was a bit sad that my dad didn't even ask me. Rohit looked at me and winked with a smile.
Priya whispered to me, " Welcome to the family Sia. If you don't tell me everything, I will torture you as I am going to be your jethani ( Elder brother-in-law's wife). "
" Shut up... "
" What a love story... You won his heart with a slap??? " she teased me again.
" Bhaishaab and bhabhiji, if you don't have any problem, can we have the Roka ceremony today ?? Everyone is very excited about this. " Ram uncle said to my dad.
My dad looked at mom and Bhai. They nodded happily. My mom was about to cry of happiness. Dad then looked at me and asked but I couldn't utter a word as I was blushing very hard.
" Uncle trust me, she is my friend, I know her... She is ok with it. She likes him too. " Priya said and I blushed harder.
" Great, we can have, but if we knew that this is going to happen, we would have been prepared. " Dad said looking at Bhai. But bhai grinned and said everything will be done, dad.
Oh god, Bhai had already arranged most of the things, which he knew of course.
My parents applied a roli teeka on Rohit's forehead and then gave him Shagun which included coconut, gold coin, sweets, dry fruits and cash. They made him eat a laddoo and a smile crept on my face as he loves laddoos. Rohit was smiling like anything. He touched the feet of my parents and they hugged and blessed him. My brother also hugged him.
I was so surprised that Bhai did all the arrangements alone without even asking mom.
Priya and aunty made me sit and started the ceremony. Rohit's family gave me the Shagun which included Sarees, jewellery, cash, sweets, dry fruits, makeup, bangles etc.
Priya and aunty applied a bit of Heena on my hand and a dot of vermilion on my forehead as a bindi. Then they fed me laddoo.
I touched his parents' feet and took blessings from them.
The Roka ceremony was over and then Priya and I started to settled the table for the lunch. Just then the doorbell rang and bhai opened the door.
He came back with a letter which was addressed to me. He showed it to me. We all were waiting for this letter for days.
I shrieked and Bhai smiled and opened the letter. His face lit up after reading it, " She got the admission in that prestigious organization for vocational training for 10 months. She has to go to Paris for that. "
" What?? Congratulations!!!!! " Everyone said and Bhai hugged me. Rohit also looked very happy but he was kind of sad too. Rahul patted on his back and he smiled at me.
" When does she has to go? " My mom asked Bhai.
" In about 15 days...... "
" But she just got engaged... How can she go now? "
" Why not?? She can go, you can go beta... Fulfil all your dreams. " Ram uncle said before my dad or Bhai would have argued.
My dad and Bhai looked absolutely happy and satisfied with what Ram uncle said.
" That is so nice of you Mr Kapoor, I always wanted my daughter to be independent. In fact, I think everyone should everyone should be independent. They can have a wedding when she comes back from there. " My dad said.
" Yes, of course Mr Khanna, don't worry about it. We will be very proud of her. As it is she is extremely good at her work even now. She would learn new techniques from there and it would be beneficial for our company also after all she is going to join our company again. " Ram uncle said with a big smile. Rahul Ji nodded at that.
I was really happy to see their progressive approach. My mom looked at Rohit and his mom tentatively. But his mom nodded with a smile and Rohit gave a reassuring grin to us.
We all enjoyed the food though, I could not eat much due to excitement and apprehension of starting a new phase of my life.
Rohit was sitting right in front of me and kept on smiling at me, like anything and I was blushing very hard as everyone was around. I hit him with my foot and he grinned even more.
Idiot...
I went to the kitchen to get something after the lunch was over and was shocked to see Rohit following me there.
He caught my hand and pulled me towards him.
Oh no!! What if someone comes here. I was about to throw something at him when Priya came in.
" What are you doing here Rohit?? "
" Oh!! I just came to ask if she needs some help... After all, there are so many people here... Nothing else. " He said leaving me and rubbing the back of his neck.
" I will help her... You go out.. after all, I am her friend.. you are a guest... "
" But you are also a guest, after all, you are, her would-be groom's bhabhi (sister-in-law). "
" I am also her friend... Mr would-be groom. Now go before I call my already been groom to drag you out. "
" Please. Priya. " He pouted.
" Awwww... Ok but only 2 minutes. " She said and went out.
He again came very close to me and said, " Congratulations beautiful !!! I am very happy that we are going to share our lives. Are you happy ?? " he asked and I nodded with a smile. He grinned and gave me a peck on the cheek. I pushed him and hit him with the big ladle I was holding. He grinned again.
" Thank God !! You were not holding a knife... Otherwise, I would have been dead even before being your groom. " he teased me again.
" Jokes apart, I am very proud of you that you got selected for that course. It's just that I am going to miss my feisty warrior. Who will attack me with all the possible things in the world for 10 months now?? I am going to miss you too. I love you... " He held my hand and caressed it with his thumb. I was blushing and smiling.
" Hey !!! Time's up... leave Mr Rohit Kapoor. " Priya said. He glared at her but she was persistent.
He shook his head and smiled at me and then went out.
" So what was going on?? What did he say? " she said raising her eyebrows and was smiling.
" Nothing ... " I just couldn't help blushing.
" Means he didn't say anything and just kissed you for all that time.. wow!!. "
" Hey no!! When did I say that... "
" According to you, he said nothing, so I assumed that he must have kissed you."
" Priya!!! Stop it, please. He just said that he was proud of me."
" And you started blushing like this... wow!!! You expect me to trust you?? You have changed Sia. Don't talk to me now. " she said and went out. I shook my head at her teasing.
I came out of the kitchen and went where everyone was. They all were enjoying the company of each other and bhai was talking to Rohit. They all were talking as if they were old friends, they discussed our wedding plans.
Priya dragged me inside to asked me to tell her everything that happened and I told her. She was so happy for both of us.
She hugged me and said, " I am so happy that you both are getting married. One reason is that Rohit is a gem of a person and he loves you a lot and another is that, now you and I will always be in the same family. " She said and hugged me.
" May I also have the privilege?? " Rohit said and we both turned to see that he was standing there leaning against the door frame.
" No ... " Both Priya and I said together.
"Please yaar Priya, at least you should help me... I am your only brother. "
" That is why I don't want to leave you alone with her... She might attack you with something. " she giggled like a small girl.
" Now I have to get used to of that. So let me start doing some practice, go bhai is looking lost without you.. " I shook my head at Priya and she smiled.
" No, you go... I am with my best friend. "
" Priya... "
" Yes, Rohit.... "
" I hate you ... " He said and made a face like an angry boy whose mom refused to let him have his favourite toy.
" Don't hate me, lover boy I am trying to save you from your feisty warrior's brother. Don't go near her or her protective brother will break your pearly white teeth. " She said and went out. I wanted to go out with her but he blocked my way.
" Rohit please.. someone might come... " I said not looking at him.
" Ok, but you would come for a date with me .... "
" Date?? Ok... But please go now. Bhai might come. "
" How about I get a kiss before I go? "
" How about a slap... "
" A don't mind that too, darling... " he came near me and I pushed him hard and ran out. He chuckled at that.
Priya and I started serving the evening tea and snacks. My brother came to help us. Rohit kept smiling at me so I avoided looking at him.
All of them went away after that. It was a very good day.
