Evelyn POV:-
We reach the Bayfords land. The property belongs to Lawrence. Since it has nothing but forest, I was perplexed by this. When there's nothing, why are we here and, to be honest, I haven't been here before.
This is my first time coming to Bayford lands. "Lawrence, Where are we going?" I asked.
"Somewhere alone." He replied with a smirk.
"Alone!" Syler shouted in excitement. I shook my head and looked out of the window. The view was beautiful.
The forests, giving a feeling of a heavenly lull I feel relaxed by this.
Finally, after a painfully long ride, We reached a lone house in the woods. It was beautiful. The woodwork is admirable. I smiled when I looked at it. Lawrence got out and took Skyler out.
"Papa, Race!" Syler shouted. "Let me put all the stuff inside first," Lawrence said and Skyler nodded. "Come, Skyler," I called her to come inside but she shook her head 'no'.
I smiled and saw Lawrence putting the stuff inside. Since Skyler isn't coming in, why would I? So, I also stood outside and waited for Lawrence.
After putting out things inside, Lawrence came out.
"How about we join forces with Skyler, and beat mother?" Lawrence asked. "Yesh!" She cheered. I tittered as Lawrence picked Skyler up. We got ready for the race.
"1, 2,3, Go!" I said as we began to run inside but Lawrence being faster than me he rushed in first.
He and Skyler began to cheer on their victory. I sighed and put my hands in the air to show my defeat. Lawrence put Skyler over her shoulders and I said with worry, "Be careful,"
"I know, Don't worry." Lawrence said reassuringly. They both began to walk around the house singing their songs of victory and I laughed looking at them.
"Welcome, Ma'am." I heard a voice from behind. I squeaked from the mini-heart attack and saw a person looking confusingly at me.
"Who are you?" I said putting my hand over my chest to calm myself.
"I apologize for scaring you but I am the caretaker of this house, John." I nodded and both Father and Daughter began to laugh, "Mama, Scared!" Lawrence said laughing.
"Scared!" Skyler also shouted, following his father. I glared at both of them as they shut up and Skyler whispered to Lawrence but it was loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Mama, Scary."
"Very," Lawrence replied. My mouth gaped at them.
"When did I scare you?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.
"Just kidding," Lawrence winked as I looked away. I exhaled and asked for John's assistance for cooking.
After a while, I first fed Skyler and put her to sleep and then began to complete the pre-made food.
As I was cooking, Lawrence came from behind and put his chin on my shoulder. I smiled and said, "Let me cook." He kissed my neck and said huskily,
"What if I say 'no'?" I ignore his presence and focus on the food, even though it was too difficult but still.
The moment I finished cooking Lawrence turned me around and leaned in, Our nose brushed against each other as I smiled. We leaned in and were about to kiss but then I heard Skyler cry.
I was about to go but Lawrence said, "I'll go and see." I smiled and began to serve dinner.
"Look who's here!" Lawrence came in, playing with Skyler. "Lawrence, She just slept!' I scolded him. "She wasn't sleeping," Lawrence said.
"I should've gone." I sighed and took Skyler from Lawrence and took her to her room. After struggling for I don't know how long, She finally fell asleep.
I sighed and walked out and saw Lawrence waiting for me. "Why didn't you eat?" I asked.
"You always wait for me. If I wait for you, it isn't a big deal." He smiled. I grinned and hugged him from behind and kissed his cheeks. He held my arm and pulled me into his laps.
I blushed and looked away. He held my chin and made me look at him. His lips curved upward in a mischievous way.
He leaned in and said, "When I look at you. I was filled with intense happiness." I smiled and backed away. But, He held me close and didn't let me go.
I looked away and Lawrence began to eat and also feed me. His love never ceases, it is a divine source of salvation for me. Having this blessed life, I am glad...
A Week Later:-
We are still there and playing hide and seek. I was looking for Lawrence and Skyler.
"Peek-a-Boo!" I shouted and moved the curtains and saw Lawrence and Skyler hiding. We laughed and hugged. We pulled away and John came,
"Sir, I am going to get some wood." He said because Lawrence said that he wanted to go with him too to explore the land.
"I wanna come too!" Skyler shouted. "You can't sweetie," I said, patting her back. "I want to!" She said, closing her hands on her chest.
Lawrence bends and pinches her cheeks. "We all go together tomorrow." Her eyes lit up hearing that. "Really? Mama too?" She asked.
"Yes, we all will go," Lawrence reassures. Skyler hugged Lawrence and began to exclaim in joy. Lawrence pecked my cheek and left.
I was watching Skyler playing with her dolls. I smiled as I looked at her. She is my world. As I was looking at her, she stopped playing and looked at me.
She pointed at me and began to say, "Mama... Who?" Being baffled by her statement, I turned, "Wha-"
Before I could say anything, the darkness consumed me as I lost my consciousness falling into the abyss...
Lawrence POV:-
Ever since I left home, I felt some uneasiness inside me. Like my heart is beating fast from dread and I can't focus on anything.
A strange feeling like something bad is going to happen. I can't shake this feeling, it's indicating that something bad is going to happen.
"And this extends to 50 km from the North," John said but on the other hand, I can't cope with anything from this unwanted feeling. To assure my heart.
I called John, "John, Let's head back and come here tomorrow with everyone."
"Yes, Sir," He said and I left with him.
My eyes widened when I saw the door's already opened. I rushed in and saw Evelyn lying on the floor with no signs of Skyler.
My heart stopped as I felt my world crashing. I felt like nothing existed for me anymore. With my shaky form, I began to search for Skyler but I couldn't find her. I fell on my knees and began to cry. Why?
If anyone wants to hurt me, why do they hurt my family? Why my daughter? My world?
Feeling like I have lost everything in my life I checked Evelyn to see if there were any wounds. John called the police as I picked Evelyn and gently placed her on the bed.
I bent down on the floor and held her hand and began to cry. I know if she knows about it, she'll be more miserable than me. I continued to cry so that when she woke up I couldn't produce any more tears.
Why my daughter?
She can't stay away from us for long. She can't sleep not until one of us plays tag or hide and seek with her. She can't eat until Evelyn feeds her. Skyler... please be safe my love...
