Adrian POV:-
I can't believe that my father wants me to marry Danielle. I can't marry her. I knew that father would also force me to marry a girl of his choice just like he did with my brother but Danielle is just too far away. I never thought that I'd have to marry her. She and I can't be together. We are not meant for each other.
It's midnight and I left to see Danielle talk to her about it. I knocked on the door and she opened it. Her eyes look void like she can't feel anything. I looked away and said, "Let's talk on the rooftop." She gave me a nod and we left to talk on the rooftop.
Danielle leaned on the railing and I put my hand on my neck as awkwardness filled me up. "Listen, Danielle..."
I trailed off and began to think about what I should say, "What do you feel about it?" I asked. I know she doesn't want to marry me either but still, I want to know.
"I don't have any objections." She said coldly and turned away and looked at the moon and began to say again, leaving me astonished,
"You know how common arranged marriages are in our family. I was mentally prepared for it... I just didn't know that it'll be you."
She turned and looked at me as a hollow smile formed on her face, "I don't want to marry you even if you are the last person on Earth."
For the first time, I felt bad when she talked ill of me.
"I am not dying to marry you either. I'll say no to this marriage." I firmly said.
"That would be much appreciated." She said, looking away.
"What about you? Can't you say no?" I asked. She shook her head 'no'. "Why?"
"Family Pressure.." She said, I felt like a needle was pricking me because of the emotionless tone of hers.
"You don't want to marry? I can help you with that." I asked again.
"I don't want to marry you." She said with venom. I narrowed my eyes on her.
"I can't marry someone who loves someone else.." She said in a barely audible tone but I heard it and my whole being became outraged.
I took a step closer and put my hands on either side of the railing as I hissed, "I don't love her. Keep it in your mind." She scoffed and said, "How am I supposed to marry a person who loved his Sister-in-Law?" Fury took over me as I glared at her and said,
"I also don't want to marry a girl who betrayed her best friend by sleeping with her boyfriend." Her eyes widened as she remained still.
"And you later said that you sleepwalked as an excuse." I opened my mouth to say something else but she slapped me and left crying.
My senses came back to me as I realized what I had said to her. Remorse took over me as I remained still. I grit my teeth in anger, I shouldn't have done this but she also said that I still loved Evelyn. Like, how can I love her?
It's been two years of her marriage and what I used to feel about her faded away long ago, why is she still hung up on that? I know that incident wasn't her fault. Filled with penitence, I went back to my room.
A few Days Later:-
We all are here once again in the living room. The tension in the room is thick enough to be cut by a knife. Danielle's hatred. Uncle and Aunt's Enthusiasm.
Mother and Father worry. Uncle Edward and Aunt Vanessa reassurance. Brother's anxiety. Everyone wants to know our answer about marriage. I was determined that I'll say no but Danielle said first,
"I am fine with it.." I was taken aback by Danielle's statement. I look at her void self who said that with a crushing weight.
Everyone turned their attention to me and I looked down, I don't know what took over me. I don't want to say this. My lips deceived my heart as they said the most unexpected thing ever,
"I am also fine with it.."
Every elder began to cheer and they hugged each other and congratulated us. Everyone seemed exhilarated about it. I didn't dare to lift my gaze. My Brother came to me and asked, "You sure?"
I nod in response and Brother put his hand over my shoulder assuringly and whispered, "I'll make sure this won't happen quickly so that if you want to back away before marriage, tell me. I'll help you."
I looked at Brother, he was smiling at me. "I just don't want to marry too soon," I whispered back.
"I got you." He whispered back and stood up.
"Everyone!" Brother called as everyone looked at him.
"I am going out for a vacation with Evelyn and Skyler. I want to ask how we can decide things after I come back. There's no rush, right?" He asked in his manipulative manner that can persuade anyone.
They all nodded as father hugged Skyler, "Grandpa will miss you."
"Me three!" She said, "It's me too, dear," Evelyn told her. She made an 'O' face and grinned.
I smiled looking at them. Brother again whispered to me, "Make up your mind at that time. Do you want to marry her or not?" I passed him a smile and he smiled back.
I just need to decide what I said, Do I truly want it?
Danielle POV:-
Being pressured by my family, I was left with no choice but to comply. But, somewhere in my heart, I was relieved because I know after that night Adrian won't agree to marry me and I'll be liberated from this ordeal.
But my dreams shattered to pieces and I was left speechless when Adrian also agreed to marry me. I was shunned as I lost my sense. He doesn't want to marry me. He also said that he will say no. What happened?
NO, NO! I don't want it.
A sudden feeling of terror rushed in me, What if he wants to subjugate me? I remained still as I myself lost in my misery. Everyone seemed happy about it except me.
I felt shattered as if there's nothing left in my world other than despair. I want to run to a desolated place where no one can find me and I can cry in my agony.
Why do you agree when you don't want to marry me in the first place? Why are you pushing both of us into the depths of the abyss? As I was lost, Brother whispered to me.
"I am taking Evelyn out for a vacation, in the meantime, think carefully about it, whether you want to marry him or not."
I looked at Brother and quickly lowered my gaze. I wish I could tell you that I can't do anything, but an involuntary smile formed on my lips.
Then my brother announced about his vacation. And we get some time to think about our lives... Because knowing our parents they can fix the marriage as soon as they can; next month but thankfully brother brought us some time...
Evelyn POV:-
I was taken aback when Lawrence announced out of nowhere that we are going. "When did that happen?" I asked Lawrence.
He pinched my cheek and smiled sweetly. I just smiled back. "You are doing it to give them some time, don't you?" I whispered.
"Maybe I am doing it to spend some alone time with you." He said as he held my waist and pulled me close. "Help them to know what they truly want," Lawrence whispered in my ears and kissed my cheek.
"No matter what, no couple can be compared to our Evelyn and Lawrence. They are just too sweet." Aunt Camila said and Lawrence replied.
"Well if you have a wife like Evelyn, how can you stay away from her.." I chuckled and said, "Of course. Lawrence, thank me."
Lawrence chuckled and said, "Thank you very much Mrs Evelyn Lawrence Bayford." We laughed a little and I looked at our soon to be a couple. I hope their marriage works out...

We packed our stuff and Lawrence didn't tell me where we were going. Since Skyler is everyone's favorite they all become sad when we are about to leave,
"Oh, We all miss you. Come soon, it would be lonely without you." Aunt Kyla said, hugging Skyler. "miss you too," She said sadly and I patted her back.
After saying goodbye, We went on our vacations...
