After Mr Smith informed his wife of the dangers in involving plenty of people in the case at hand, he left her as she continued to murmur incoherent words to herself while he went to figure out something.
The cool breeze blew gently on him as he stood outside in the lawn grateful to be away from his wife and her nags the moment. If there was ever a chance for him to think and do something, his wife's nagging and wailing wouldn't let him concentrate.
He was enjoying the effect the cool breeze was having on him; just what he needed that moment, a breath of fresh air in a quiet place where there was nothing like his wife there with her nags.
She thinks he is being indecisive without knowing how much the situation has incapacitated him to the extent that using his power might even worsen things. He would just wait and watch, for at least a while.
His phone chose to ring that moment, he took it out from his pocket and thoughtfully looked at the number displayed as the caller ID while he racked his head searching to know who the caller could be.
While he was still thinking of who the caller might be, the phone stopped ringing but started again the second time.
He then picked it up and realized it was his guard he sent to buy tickets.
"Yes, what is the situation?" he asked on the phone. His face twitched the next minute causing his brows to gather in a way that shows that he must have heard a not so pleasant news.
It wasn't long before he dropped the call and looked up towards the sky. The weather looked gloomy so he wondered if they understood his situation and maybe felt pity for him. It wasn't even evening yet but it was getting dark like there would be a downpour. He sighed sadly as the feelings of hopelessness overpowered him.

SMITH'S MANSION
Elizabeth sat on the bed and watched Clinton closely. She truly is glad that he has a chance to make it alive. Although the doctor revealed that he is likely to have leg paralysis and eye defect or worse still, blindness. She is really afraid for him. Who will watch him in such a condition especially now that him being alive is hidden and there are no housekeepers around. Well, except for her.
She is just waiting to hear from Doctor Ken to know her next step. That is if she would leave which happens to be her only option because she obviously can't be there with Clinton Smith. His parents have to come back and look after their son, it's only fair for them to be there and maybe re-enforce new house keepers and guards because left for her, she has to find her life elsewhere.
While she was still thinking, Doctor Ken entered the room where Clinton lay and which she is sitting at the foot of the bed. Elizabeth noticed a different kind of calmness written all over him. For a moment she wondered if something was wrong.
"Welcome doctor," she greeted, standing up from the bed to focus on the doctor.
"Thank you, how is he doing? Has he made any movement yet or any notable action?" he asked as he approached Clinton taking out his stethoscope.
"No, not at all but his pulse is normal now,"
He just nodded and placed the stethoscope on Clinton's chest and listened for sound. Elizabeth just looked on saying nothing, even though she wanted to ask him about his discussion with Clinton's parents. Are they coming back soon to look after their son knowing that he is in danger and she can't do much to protect him. Or are they already gathering new house keepers and guards. Either way, they still need to be there at that moment. Their son needs them more than anything.
The doctor finished listening to Clinton's heartbeat and fixed his stethoscope gently back on his neck. Then he physically checked other parts of his body, his eyes included.
"He is stable now," he said, facing Elizabeth.
"Uhm, okay…"
"There's a drug I need to administer to him as soon as he wakes up, so I need to be around to know when he is awake. So, I would need a…"
"A room to stay in?" The doctor was saying but Elizabeth understood even before he finished. He nodded slightly.
"That's okay. There are plenty of rooms available, you can just ermm pick anyone or I can prepare one for you."
"Thank you," he replied with a smile. Elizabeth turned to go but hesitated. The main thing she needed to hear from him hasn't been said yet. She contemplated whether to ask him now or wait later after he must have refreshed.
"Anything the matter?" The doctor who noticed her reluctance to either go forward or backward asked.
"How about his parents, are they coming back?" Elizabeth asked, turning to face him.
The doctor sighed worriedly. His mouth felt heavy to say a word.
"They are having issues with getting a flight that would bring them but they are still working on it."
The dry manner with which the doctor replied was enough to tell Elizabeth that something was truly wrong. How is it now that they are having issues with traveling back to look after their son. Isn't Mr Smith rich and powerful, how is that supposed to be a problem to him. Unless, they don't care about their son because if they do, there's nothing that would hold them back for even a second from coming home to see their son, If he is dead or alive.
"Are they aware that he isn't safe here with no bodyguards whatsoever?"
"Yes, there's nothing to worry about. They will be here soon to rectify everything.."
"And me? Don't you think I want to leave just like every other maid did?" Elizabeth threw at the doctor. The question left him speechless. He didn't know the best thing to say at that moment. He can't afford to provoke Elizabeth by saying anything that would trigger her anger. At that moment, she is the only one trusted enough to be around Clinton and good enough to take care of him. If she leaves, Clinton would be in trouble. He can't leave his work to cater for him especially now that there are big chances of him being partially blind and crippled when he eventually wakes up.
"I understand, but please can you give them some time to figure things out? You are his only hope to survive with the way things are…" He said looking towards Clinton in pity.
Elizabeth swallowed hard after which she left the room saying nothing out but having plenty of words in her mouth.
