“Does the Xi Residence represent the Xi God? Does this mean the creepy alley represents Ji God, and the night watcher and Zhang Mingli represent the Yong God?
“When we first entered Dream Break Town, all the testers gathered before the altar. That room only had one altar, and the God witnessed by everyone was different. Is this town a dead God? Are the names on the stone plaque there to help God correct its fate?” Gao Ming was surprised by his wealthy imagination.
Since the man inside the urn didn’t get a response, he guessed that the person who came was not Madam Xi. The humility on his face disappeared. His expression became arrogant as if he wasn’t just begging a moment ago.
“The home is filled with guests and friends. I believe Madam Xi has another celebration. I know you look down on us, but to be honest, what choices do we have?” The man seemed to mistake Gao Ming for a guest who accidentally entered his room, “Stay here long enough, and you’ll join our ranks. Lose your mind in the revelry and die in joy. Your flesh and blood will become this wedding’s decoration. Nothing of you will remain.”
Gao Ming sensed a deep hatred in the man’s words. The men in the urn would only reveal their real thoughts when they were certain that Madam Xi couldn’t hear them.
“The door was left open. Since you’re already here, you can do anything you want. We can pretend that we don’t even see you. We only hope you can do one small thing for us.” The men’s heads were glued together. They spoke in a strange manner, “My brothers’ faces are moving too close to my body. Their joy crawls towards my brain. If this continues, my last trace of rationality will be crushed.”
“What are you?” Gao Ming held the copper mirror and asked cautiously.
Hearing Gao Ming, the man was startled before breaking out in joy, “You don’t know what we are?! How can you not know the town’s night gentleman? You are a tester! You are a tester from the outside world!” Thankfully, the guests’ attention was fully focused on the wedding procession, or else Gao Ming’s identity would have been exposed already.
The bones were torn apart. A gurgling sound came from the urn. Then, there was the sound of a rag shredding. A heavily-mutated arm reached out from the wine. The arm was not that scary, but there was a black band around its wrist.
“For real?” Gao Ming’s heart was unmoved, but he purposely made himself sound interested.
“The alien object is in my stomach. Once you drag me out of this urn, I’ll give it to you,” The man offered kindly.
Gao Ming moved forward cautiously. “No. I still can’t fully trust you. Can you tell me what happened to you? What are the Xi God and Ji God you’ve just mentioned?” Gao Ming did this to lure out more information. He couldn’t be less interested in the Organ Insertion Method.
“The creatures here can be split into three basic categories. There are the Yong Gods who are neutral and follow a certain type of rules. They maintain the village's basic operations. They include people like the night watcher, the coffin bearer, the paper craftsman, the host, the butcher and Elder Tang from the bank…”
“Wait. How can the butcher and Elder Tang be counted as Yong Gods?” Gao Ming thought back to how crazy Zhu Ren was, and he suspected the man’s words.
“I know it’s hard to believe. The butcher kills the livestock to provide the village with meat and sacrifice. Elder Tang manages the bank and controls the money flow. Without the two of them, the village cannot function.” The man had been paying close attention to Gao Ming’s footsteps. When he heard that Gao Ming had stopped, he sounded urgent, “At first, the butcher and Elder Tang were not like they are now. Many Yong Gods have lost their minds.”
“Who is the strongest Yong God?” Gao Ming was curious. He believed Elder Tang was stronger than the butcher.
“It should be the night watcher.”
“The night watcher?” Gao Ming was surprised by that answer. The old man looked like he was already dead. He could barely walk in a straight line.
“Yes, because he is the only one among the Yong Gods who is still conscious.” The man slowed down once he heard Gao Ming move forward. “Compared to Yong Gods, Xi God and Ji God are more mysterious. Everyone in town knows that Madam Xi is connected to Xi God, but no one other than Madam Xi has seen the real Xi God. He is real but also elusive.
“Some testers suspected that Madam Xi’s groom is the real Xi God. However, abandoned night gentlemen like us have married Madam Xi before. Our weddings ended at Wu Geng Tian, and we hadn’t seen the Xi God.
