Tang Hu hated Gao Ming. He had done nothing good for him since he appeared!
“Who would deliver a list of dead children as a birthday gift?”
Gao Ming had the same thought as Tang Hu. Gao Ming shivered from fear. He finally understood Wan Min’s warning. Zhang Mingli was basically sending him to his death. “Zhang Mingli wanted to kill me… But why? Is this part of his plan?” Gao Ming kept watching.
Tang Hu, whose body was about to crumble, shook his head with the last of his strength. He wanted to utter Gao Ming’s name, but before he could do so, his body exploded. Blood was sprayed everywhere. The head with open eyes rolled about like a ball. It bounced on the steps of the hall and stopped when it bumped into Tang Residence’s towering walls.
The face was unrecognisable. Tang Hu did so many horrible things to become Elder Tang’s stepson. He also obtained the modification method hidden in Tang Residence. He thought it was his time to shine, but he was murdered because he delivered the wrong birthday present. This confirmed Gao Ming’s belief that no one in Dream Break Town was trustworthy. Siding with the local residents would only lead to one ending: being betrayed and sacrificed.
“Haha! The old bastard has killed the young bastard! Even animals won’t kill their offspring. Old Tang, you are worse than an animal!”
“Shut up! Stop provoking the wrong person!”
One voice in the butcher mocked Elder Tang, while the other voice mocked the butcher. Blood flowed. An arm made from animal fur went to grab Tang Hu’s head. Just as the oily fingers were about to touch the human head, a joss stick lit up at North Street.
“Hai Shi Er Geng. Close your doors and windows. Beware of thieves!”
“Night-watcher!” Elder Tang roared angrily. No one dared to take treasures away from him before!
The giant hand above the house snatched at the smoke. A pair of eyes slowly opened inside the birthday hall. At the same time, the black cloth over the stone lions fell. Human eyes grew on the stone lions. Their stone skins cracked. They howled and jumped after the night-watcher!
Gao Ming didn’t expect this turn of events. The timid night-watcher was the first to make a move. He probably thought the person who was killed was Gao Ming. That was why he wanted to grab Tang Hu’s head. He wanted to hollow it out and make it his successor.
“When we were at Tu Di God Temple, the night-watcher didn’t hesitate to fight the God. This old man looks fragile, but he has quite a lot of bravado.” Gao Ming glanced at the hidden room behind the birthday hall. There were some who shared his thoughts. At the table where Elder Tang’s descendants were, a few of them had their eyes shining with venom and greed. Most guests were frozen in place, but there were a few who had started to move their seats. The stone lions stepped on the wind as they chased after the night-watcher. Only the two children with big heads and Tang Residence’s tall walls remained before the butcher.
“The lions are gone, but there are still many animals in the yard. After I kill that old bastard, this place will be mine,” The butcher’s blood seeped into the yard. The other voice was silent for a long time as if watching and waiting. “We’re both villagers here. Why can Elder Tang live in such a large house but not us?” The two voices within the butcher are equally evil. However, one was reckless, and the other was cunning. When the situation was unclear, the two voices would argue to confuse outsiders. However, when the opportunity arose, they would be united in thoughts.
The legs, warped in animal furs, stepped over the gate, but they couldn’t land on the ground. Blood soaked through the yard. The animal’s black blood oozed out of the pebbles in the yard.
“How dare you?!” The giant hand in the sky swatted at the butcher. All the lanterns in the yard went out. The talismans pasted on the walls were shattered. The roar was as loud as thunder.
Before the lights went out, Gao Ming eased open the door slightly. He had been watching the situation. He noticed that the sutra given by Zhang Mingli was moving on its own. The Tang names morphed into evil spirits and slipped into the hidden room. The celebration was only halfway through. Not all the presents had been sent into the hidden room. The spirits caught a perfect chance. They shared the same bloodline as Elder Tang. They threw themselves at the seal on the hidden door to weaken it.
Fury rose. Elder Tang howled but he was delayed by the butcher.
“You horrible bastard, this is your karma! Haha!”
“Kill! Kill him! Open his stomach and devour his heart! I want to use his head as a lantern!”
The butcher and Elder Tang fought in the dark. When the people in the hall realised Elder Tang couldn’t return, their brains started to spin.
Elder Tang represented greed. His descendants and his guests were motivated by greed. They dared to do many things for greed.
The first to react was his beloved youngest son. He bit off his arm, severed his neck and pulled off his scalp to disconnect the black lines between him and Elder Tang. The moment the black lines were snapped, thick blood leaked out of the youngest son’s wounds. However, his face became youthful instantly. The wrinkles around his eyes disappeared.
When the guests saw this, some of them started to do the same thing. They fell into Elder Tang’s web due to greed. Now that the chance had come for them to escape, they naturally wouldn’t let it slip.
Chaos ensued in the hall. Elder Tang’s youngest son was the first to achieve freedom. He didn’t hurry to escape. Instead, he rushed towards the hidden room.
Several seconds later, he came out carrying a few black boxes. He ran towards the backyard wall.
“No one can steal from me! No one!” Elder Tang roared. A giant mouth opened on the wall. The teeth chomped down mercilessly, snapping his son into two. Half of his son’s body crawled on the ground. He still wanted to escape. This triggered the guests. More people started to make their move.
“This is the chance!”
Gao Ming turned back to share a look with Chun Niang. Then, he shoved open the door and ran towards the hidden room!
