His Winter Heart Chapter 73

With that incident in my mind, I made my way home and took a taxi since Hannah left already, and Emma is having her shift to the shop. "Nathan I'm home!" I yelled as soon as I got to our house. I waited for a minute...Maybe he's asleep. I'll just open the door myself then. Rummaging through my bag, I looked for the key. I'm sure I just put it here this morning... "Where's my math notes?" I jumped in shock and looked at the source. "Oh." I sighed in relief, seeing it's not a robber or something. "Eion, so good to see you here." I greeted sarcastically. I turned my eyes to look around, then stared at him in confusion, "What are you doing here, at the front door of my house?" He leaned to a wall, crossing his arms in front of him, "I want it back." I stared at him, waiting for him to continue. Realizing he has nothing more to say, I motioned for him to continue, "The what? What are you referring to?" I sighed. Eion, sometimes, please, just please, elaborate clearly, it's not like you have to explain for five sentences. I just need a good answer, that's all. "My notes." He replied. I furrowed my eyebrows, my eyes narrowing. His notes? But I just got it earlier, it didn't even last for a day... I voiced out my thoughts. "But I just got it this morning from you. I didn't even have the time to look at it, let alone study." "But I didn't either." He said like it's so obvious. "I don't care about you. I want it back right now." I snorted at his so self-centered self. Wow, I really appreciate the empathy he gives. "But since we have a break these next two weeks...Can I give it next week?" I asked, looking up at him with pleading eyes, showcasing my trained beautiful puppy eyes that I'm sure no one, not even mom and dad could resist. "No." I gasped, then considered another option. "Tomorrow?" "No." I huffed in annoyance, holding my head in frustration. Getting on my nerves in school and even all the way to my house. Great. How considerate of him to even manage to frustrate me without trying on his part. It took me all my strength not to slam my fist to his lovely stone-cold face. I inhaled and exhaled. Calm your horses down, Snow! And besides, I owe this guy a lot. I may be harsh and all but I know and respect the people I owe, even to this robot. Now, where could I borrow notes? I'm sure the squad has all their plans, and I don't know and I'm not close with the other students in my class. "Ugh, I knew that kindness was sudden. It wouldn't even last for a day." I glanced at him, then sighed. "Fine, wait here." I opened our front door and inhaled the fresh scent of our house. Home sweet home...It is a long day, indeed. The usual lavender scent lingering in the air seems to relieve my irritation from that incident I just had. I breathed in and out first, before walking to the hallway and up towards my room when there was the sound of clanking and chattering of plates and spoons from somewhere down the kitchen. I stopped to head and check the kitchen first, to see if it's someone trying to break in. But I saw mom 'cooking'. I mean, if you could consider cooking with all the sounds of those clanking like someone just broke in our house. She's a great cook, but she's not really that careful with things here. "You're here early mom, "I spoke up, announcing my arrival. I went to grab a glass from a cabinet and filled it with water on my way to the refrigerator. I gulped it all down to my throat quickly. Ah, so refreshing! "Yes, my boss let me out this early, thank goodness." Mom turned to glance at me before tasting the food she was making, which I assume was chicken soup. "That's great, mom. I'll go to my room first then." I quickly went upstairs and to my room, throwing my bag on the chair. I sat on my bed for a while, just staring at the space as I rested for a while. Then I remembered Eion was waiting for his notes outside. I heaved a deep sigh. Grabbing his notes from my bag, I headed back downstairs. I spotted Eion's statue sitting at one of our sofas in the living room, and talking with my mom. I decided to stop it and went between them. "Eion, here." I handed his notes to him, he grabbed them and placed them beside him. Mom turned to me, having this frown on her face. "You should have invited him inside, Snow. I was making food anyway." I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment. Thanks, mom. "He's just here to grab his notes from me." I turn to look at Eion, "Right?" He nodded his head. "Really, it's okay, Aunt Evy. I'm fine." Wow. Who knew he could be that polite. I can't help but gape at him. And he agreed to me and didn't let me down when he had the perfect chance now that my mother is here... Mom's face softened a bit when she turned to look at Eion. She offered him a gentle smile. "Okay, I'll leave you two then. Want some snacks?" I shook my head. I turn to Eion, "You?" He shook his head no. "I'm good." With that, Mom hummed a tune before excusing herself. "EIONYY!" A voice exclaimed from somewhere. I looked behind and saw Nathan racing his way towards us from the stairs. "Nathan!" I yelled, opening my arms to hug him. And it was the moment of truth. The moment if my dear little brother loves me. I was expecting, you know, me, His Big Beautiful Sister, Leizel Snow Waterstrings, was expecting for him to immediately come and hug me! But here I am, still standing beside the sofa, watching Nathan dash off excitedly to the person beside me, Eion Hudson, The statue, stone-faced robot. My jaw dropped to the ground as I watched my dear little brother collide into a rock statue, I mean, Eion. "Careful kid," Eion said, ruffling his hair, a hint of amusement in his tone as he caught my reaction, smirking a little as he did so. Nathan chuckled and sat beside Eion, looking up at him in admiration and so much happiness like they were long-lost best friends. "You came again! Can we play?" I gawked, still standing in front of them. They were too deep in themselves to even acknowledge me. Now even my cute little brother doesn't want me anymore... I scowled, glaring at Eion for stealing him from me. Fine then, since they don't want me, I'll just leave them alone. Huffing, I walked away from them when Eion stopped me. "Where are you going?" "I'll leave. It looks like I would just be a disturbance to you both. Bye." "No Snowwy! Let's play like before!" Nathan shrieked. I heard Eion sighing disappointedly, "Sorry, I can't play now kid. I don't have the time now." I turn to look at him, apologizing to my brother. It was a rare sight. So I stopped taking my leave and watched the scene more. Nathan pouted. I glared at Eion. "What?" He looked at me. Don't disappoint the kid! I think I managed to send my thoughts to him since he sighed, "Fine...Let's play the next time." "Really? Promise." "Promise." This time, I sent him a darker glare. He just doubled his death sentence, in my presence. Narrowing my eyes, I leaned towards him, just enough to whisper to his ear, "Don't make promises that you can't keep. Or else," I threatened him with my very own deadly low voice. If he's more deadly than what he thinks he is, then I'll be deadlier. A phone rang throughout the room and Eion stood up and answered. He went towards a corner and away for us not to hear it. "I gotta go," he said when the call finished. "That sudden?" I asked. "Okay..." Did I just sound disappointed? C'mon! Disappointed? I'm happy he's leaving finally. "You won't have dinner here?" Mom's head poked from the kitchen door. "Thank you Mrs. Waterstrings. But my dad just called me. I really gotta go." He walked away quickly, leaving behind his notes on the sofa, the reason why he came here. Did he forget it? I quickly got it and tried to chase him but he was not there anymore. His car was already gone. I smiled. Is really the math notes the reason he came here?
