DUSK'S POV
I didn't want to accept the fact that I was blind. I rubbed my eyes over and over again, blinked numerous times before I finally accepted that Matilda made me blind.
"Why did you do this!? Why have you done this!?" I asked in anger.
"Why do you think Ksud is stupid? Because she doesn't believe things unless she sees for herself."
"Is that why you made me blind? Because I'm stupid?" I asked in rage.
"You wanted answers, and that's what I'm doing. I'm giving you answers," she said, and it was just so unbelievable. How was making me blind considered an answer?
"Is this what you call an answer!? This is not an answer!" I exclaimed sharply.
"You said you wanted to know how I can see! I'm only trying to let you know how a blind person like me can see. You're really a case, Dusk. You should have listened to the whole story before deciding not to believe me. Now face me," she said, and I closed my eyes and clenched my fists.
"You just made me blind, how can I face you?" I asked with clenched teeth.
"Use your ears. Are you that dumb?" She asked and I staggered to my feet.
"Mind the language," I said, and she laughed.
"You should mind your language, Dusk. There's more to me than meets the eye. Now, are you ready to confirm my story or not?" She asked, and I sighed. Matilda was truly mysterious; it was better I played it safe.
"Go on," I said, with my hands out.
"Face me," She said, and I turned in the direction her voice came from.
And I saw a bright shining light; shortly, there was Matilda using magic and saving Ari who was about to fall from a tree.
Then she was there again, removing poison from a drink.
I saw her two more times using magic to save others before it returned to darkness.
"My mother exchanged my outer eyes for inner ones. She used me to see the true intentions of people, to see what they did in secret when no one was watching. I have wielded magic for a long time and can see everyone's outline. I can see the outline of objects and when I want to see what a person looks like, I can only see it for a brief moment," She said and I was at a loss for words.
"So, you made me blind so I can see?" I asked, and it sounded like a paradox to me.
"Yes, I did," She said and I felt her hand wrap around mine. "Now you'll see for yourselves what Alpha Roland and Martha are really like, in the dark," she said and she guided me slowly as we moved.
"They'll notice I'm blind. How would we pull this off?" I asked and she handed me glasses.
"My reading glasses, they won't see too much. Just avoid conversation with anyone and follow my lead. You know your left and right, right?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yes, I do," I replied.
"Turn left," She said and I did.
"Wait," She commanded again, and I stopped. I heard the door open, and we stepped out.
"Always look forward and don't get distracted by anyone else," She said, and just then some maids passed. I wanted to turn my head and see their true selves properly, but I felt Matilda's stick as it hit the back of my head.
"Who are you?" I asked in frustration.
"An ancient being. Don't even try to know too much about me," She said.
She gave me whispered orders which I carried out as best as I could.
She took me to the garden where I spotted Alpha Roland, and I saw him in my head.
"That old fart is dead now, and his son is not fit to rule the Kingdom. We are taking over. The Kingdom is ours."
That was what he had said while sipping wine in his quarters.
I looked around for Martha and spotted her.
"Lucius would make a nice sex slave when his Kingdom is taken, and as for his Luna, she's better off killed. I have a plan; let's invite them to the Palace, but so we wouldn't get suspected, let's invite the others from other Kingdoms too. And then we strike," She had said folding her hands while in a bathrobe.
"Your intelligence is beautiful, Martha. You can have whatever you want once we acquire their Kingdom," Alpha Roland had said, and they had chuckled.
I looked at most of the Lunas and Alphas, and there was not a single one with good intentions.
"I believe you," I said, and she took my hand and turned me around.
She placed her hand gently over my eyes and her palm began to grow warm.
After a while, she took away her hands.
"Open your eyes," She said, and the moment I opened them, bright light shone, and I closed them immediately.
I opened them again and could see everything and everyone around me.
"I have to let Lucius know," I said and ran, leaving Matilda.
When I got to the room Lucius was staying, I met him sitting on the bed with his head in his hands.
"Lucius. I know you might not believe me, but trust me, this is real!" I said going to him, and he looked up at me, startled.
I told him everything from the time I knew Matilda up to the present, but I didn't know if he was going to believe me.
"I believe you," He said and I was shocked.
"They made me drunk last night and tried to get secrets out of me. They were targeting my defense mechanisms. Our war secrets. But right now, there's only one thing left to do to confirm it," He said.
I and Lucius were shocked when we managed to get to their training grounds.
"I believe you. My father was always right. There's nobody to trust, not foe, nor friend," Lucius said, and I nodded.
Because in front of us, his men were receiving full military training with all the vigour and determination of men going for war.
Matilda had been right; Roland had been picking stones called Ymra to throw at our castle.
And the Ymra was the ferocious Army in front of us.
