His Mate, His Slave Chapter 56

DUSK'S POV I froze on the spot, trying to breathe gently. "I'm not here for anything bad; I just saw the books and thought it would be nice to read them," I said slowly, but the sword didn't leave my neck. If anything, it moved closer, and I sucked in my breath sharply. "I'm not an enemy. I came to this Kingdom because I was invited. I just happened to stumble upon this room," I said, managing to look behind the curtains, where the sword was coming from. A few seconds later, the sword was lowered, and I was beyond shocked to see a little girl get down from where she had climbed and face me, although her concentration was bad. She kept on looking way past my head. She sheathed the sword, and a sigh of disbelief escaped me. A child? She put the sword to the floor, and it instantly looked like a walking stick. "You have the guts to put a blade to my neck when you haven't lived long?" I asked, looking at her adorably, but she simply turned away, using the sword to feel her way through. It was then I realized she was blind. I went to her and waved my hands in front of her. She didn't blink, nor did she try to focus on my hand. It was confirmed; she was blind. She sat on the chair, pulled out a book, and placed it on the table. Then she flipped its pages and began to read. It seemed like a joke to me. She was blind but was reading. "Are you actually blind? Where's your mum? Shouldn't you be here alone? Shouldn't there be someone with you, helping you out?" I asked, and she snapped her book shut. She took her walking stick and disappeared behind the shelves. At first, I didn't know if I was to follow, but I decided to after some seconds. She had already unsheathed the walking stick, revealing the sword, and was sparring with herself. "What are you doing? A little girl shouldn't learn things like this," I said when I saw she was really good at it. "Can you hear me? Or can you talk?" I asked, but she kept on sparring like a professional. It seemed like she was dumb. "You can't talk?" I asked and felt pity for her. It was bad enough not being able to see, but she couldn't talk either. "Uh... I'll come see you later, okay? I'm sure it will be nice to have some company. And also, I'm sorry about your disabilities," I said and made to leave. "Stop," she said flatly, and I turned. Was she really talking? "What?" I asked, and she came to me slowly, using the sword to feel her way through, and gently pulled my dress off a nail. The nail had hooked my dress. "But you're blind. How did you see..." I was saying, but she interrupted. "Shouldn't I be getting appreciation?" She asked, and I scoffed. "Thank you. But how did a blind girl know that a nail was about to ruin my dress?" I asked, waiting for her reply. "When you go blind someday, you realize that being unable to see means you sharpen your other senses. I've always known there was a nail there, and I heard the sound. The sound of it pulling something that was hooked on it," she said, and I opened my mouth. "So, can I ask a few questions about you?" I asked, but she went to sit back at the chair. "No." "Are you the princess of this Kingdom? Why do you seem so cold and mature? You actually seem like you're older than your age, you know," I said because she piqued my curiosity a lot. "I'm actually older than you think I am," she said, and I laughed. "I think you're six, so maybe you're nine?" I asked, and she looked at me with cold eyes. "You and your Alpha shouldn't be here. And you especially shouldn't be here. I've seen both of you, and I know you shouldn't be here," she said, and I looked at her. "I believe you're so dramatic. If you know so well that we shouldn't be here, then tell me something about me." "You're in love with your Alpha," she said, and I burst into laughter. She still had that same childhood belief that every Luna was in love with her Alpha. "You don't believe me? Maybe you don't know it, but you love him," she said, and I tried to pat her head, which resulted in her swatting it away. "It's okay, I'll let you keep your childhood belief, but I must go now," I said and left. ~ Later on, Roland and his Luna, Martha, gave us all a tour of their magnificent Palace. Their Palace was indeed beautiful, but it didn't match Lucius'. But even though he knew that, he said nothing about it to Alpha Roland, who kept on bragging. After a while, in the garden, the Alphas began to talk about Business, and the Lunas decided to leave and talk about other things. We all sat on chairs next to a fountain. "We're supposed to get to know this place better, but instead, they're talking about business," a Luna said, and the other Lunas laughed. "Stefan cannot do without discussing politics with me. It's like he's forgotten I'm a Luna and should be off painting or receiving sweet treatment somewhere else," Alberta said, and the Lunas nodded. "And what about you, Dusk?" Georgina asked me. "Oh, me? He doesn't talk about politics with me; we talk about other things," I said, and they nodded. "So, what do you do when that handsome Alpha of yours is busy?" Alberta asked, and I gave a smile. "I paint and read. Or chat with my friend," I said, and they nodded once more, giggling away with each other. After a while, I left because I didn't feel comfortable sitting with them. I walked around the garden and saw a river connecting to the outer part of the castle. Some children were gathered around, pointing, and the Blind girl was also there. Then I saw a Teddy Bear floating away. "Don't go! The water will take you!" One of them screamed and tried to hold another girl who was trying to jump into the water. Without thinking, I walked to them. "Mr. Wiss! My mother gave him to me! I cannot leave him!" She wailed. "I'll get him for you!" I said, and they all shouted. "No!" I looked at them, but the wailing girl thanked me, and as I jumped, they all screamed again. I wasn't a great swimmer, but it was so easy to swim towards the teddy bear. I got the bear and tried to swim back, but it was really hard as I realized that the current was against me. I tried hard to swim back but realized that... I was going to get swept away. To where? Was the question on my mind."
