Richard’s POV
Two hours after my mom left, I still couldn’t get over her revelation. It was shaking and I was surprised.
Finding out that I have a brother somewhere in the world was a strange feeling. I’ve always known myself as a single child and I don’t even know how to feel right now.
Mom said I was a product of my father’s extra marital affair, that I knew about but having a brother was not the type of package I was ready to accept.
I felt withdrawn from Vanessa and Racheal all of a sudden, it was as if a cold bucket of water was poured all over me. I had rejected myself to the chair placed in my kitchen. Thinking back and forth about what I should do.
Should I call this my so called brother and ask him about our mother? Can I even call her mother?
Yes! She’s my biological mother, but will it be right if I call her mother despite the fact that it was easy for her to give me away to another woman.
She never showed up for years and she never cared about how I was surviving or adapting or even care if I was alive.
Telling myself I was done with unnecessary questions, I picked up my phone and called my father.
“Hello, father!”
“Richard. I was expecting your call all day, son. Your mother told me about everything. How’s Vanessa and the child?” He asked.
“They’re fine, father. Mother told me about your affair and your illegitimate sons” I attacked him straight instead of beating around the bush.
“There’s nothing like illegitimate. If you think they’re illegitimate sons, what are you then? You are not Tiffany’s son either”
“I could have said she raised me as a son but We both know she was busy raising you and your extra marital affairs. It’s totally unfair on her. Why did you do something of such?” I asked.
“You won’t understand, Richard” he simply replied
“Make me understand father” I pleaded
“Come home son, and claim your rightful position, that’s all I ask of you”
“I’ll think about it. Can I ask you a question?” He replied with a yes.
“Do you regret it? Do you regret any of your actions?”
“Even if the world changes a thousand time,I’ll still choose you, your brother and your mother”
With that, he dropped the call and I was left confused and annoyed.
I didn’t plan On going home anytime sooner. I was hoping I’ll stay behind and date my woman the normal way, ask her to marry me and have some alone time with her.
I was still thinking about what to do when I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I turned back to see it was Vanessa.
“Hey”
“Hey” she came to stand beside me.
“What are you thinking so much about?”
“Everything that my mom said. It’s really really frustrating. Having a brother just like that is not something to happen suddenly. My father isn’t regretting any of his actions even though the family is in a mess at the moment. It’s so unfair on my mom. Imagine what she’ll go through once it’s out there that I’m not even her son”
Vanessa’s POV
Seeing Richard pour out his feelings that way made me understand just how much he loves Tiffany.
I wish I could do something to help him but I guess there’s nothing else I can do than listen to him.
I ran my fingers through his thick hair and rested my chin on his head. “You don’t have to think too much about it, Richard. Everything will definitely be fine. You can keep rambling and nagging forever about it but that won’t change anything. Take action. Think about what you can do to help this situation on ground and do it. Be the Richard that I’ve always known” I told him.
He pulled me by the waist and sat me down gently on his lap. My face was looking straight at him and then the next thing he did surprised me.
He first pulled hair back to its position and then looked intensely into my eyes.
His gaze moved slowly to my lips and then.... his soft lips landed on mine.
Gently grazing my lips with his teeth, I gave him access to my mouth, invading it like it belonged to him.
After an intense make out moment, he looked into my eyes yet again.
“Go home with me Vanessa please. I can’t do anything without my family beside me”
I couldn’t say no when he asked like that.
“Okay, I’ll go with you” I replied and he pulled me back, kissing my senses away.
I knew I was deep into whatever I was feeling for him yet I’m not ready to deny it.
I think I’m in love with Richard.
