Senior school one came to a close successfully. It was a lot stressful than I imagined. I thought I was going to successfully pull off being the short, clumsy, unnoticed but lousy, nerdy but kinda deliberately average back sit student. Was that too much to ask? Okay, now that I think of it, Yes... Yes... I. I guess it was kinda a bit too much, but still!
I ended up being in a stupid love triangle including a boy I know liked me but never told me, Well I think he liked me, a guy I like, who is most likely never gonna see me as more than a laughing stock and I mean never!
It hurts, but here I am. Standing at the entrance of my new class. SS2. Senior School 2. It's surprising how one year passed so quickly. I never even knew time flew so fast. All along I always thought it was just said for fun. Now I know time does fly.
During the long break, I decided to force myself to let go of Victor. It's a difficult but slow process but I need to.
I mean, he is always gonna be a pain in my neck. He doesn't like me and he won't let me live. He has practically become a bully to me. He criticizes my every move, word, idea, appearance, action, names it!
Dina sure has been there to stand up for me, but it hurts real bad. I mean, imagine constantly being humiliated by the one boy you like even when you are not trying to get his attention. It's like he is on the lookout for your flaws. I have cried enough last year to last me throughout Senior School, and I'm deciding that from this moment onwards, I am going to live my Senior School days to the fullest. I mean, It's high time I zero out Victor. He and many other boys have caused me enough tears.
I am going to be 15 this year and how about we start that with a clean shave from the past. Faith thought me; "F*ck people's opinions."
Edna thought me; " Be you, be true"
Dina thought me; "Learn to stand up for yourself."
And Nathan thought to me; "be self-confident! "
I am willing to apply all these lessons in my new year and I'm not repeating past mistakes! This girl's done crying!
Like, I'm Jade, the all-time singer, writer, artist, blah-blah-blah! Not that I am as awesome as I try to sound, but, I am somebody! And Noone can make me feel like a nobody. Not anymore!
"Jade! " I hear a familiar voice call my name. I turn around to see the new Silvia walking towards me with Dina by her side.
Yeah. Silvy, Dina, and I have kinda become a trio. Silvy isn't bad. She is cool, funny, and has legendary mood swings. She is the perfect definition of "I don't give two damn s*its!" From appearance to composure.
I find my Dina walking elegantly beside Silvy. Seriously, Dina is one out of this world Diva. She is shapy, endowed, and I mean ENDOWED!, pretty, talented, kind-hearted, and she's got the brains. Damn, I can not dive into describing her glory!
"Silvia! " I call as I accept her warm hug.
"Sup bi*ch! " Dina greets as she hits me in my side with her hip before pulling me into a hug.

We all giggle as we turn to face the entrance of our new class.
"Ready? " Dina asks.
"As I'll ever be! " Silvy replies.
I simply gulp as anticipation has the upper hand over me. We walk into the class and boom. The first person I bump into is Victor. Come on fate! Give me a break!
"Sorry" I mumble as make my way past him without looking up at him.
I hurry to my seat which is right beside Dina and Silvy's.
Classes begin and I haply take down my notes. The rest of the day goes on beautifully. With of course a few stink comments from Victor but for some reason, he seems to have reduced his attack rate a bit.
It's nothing I can't put up with. Two weeks have just passed in the new class and the whole senior school is buzzing with the news of SS3's prom.
You see, here in SHA, every passing out class (Senior School Three's), are granted the opportunity to host a prom and they get to invite whoever they want. They can even exclude teachers if they wish.
Every class looks forward to their final year in Senior School to be able to host a record-breaking and unbeatable Prom.
I hear the last prom was the best and also a wild one, but I don't care, I'm not the; dress in a gown, heels, and makeup kind of person. Besides, Noone invited me. I have always hated their class anyways so no biggie. The same goes for the current SS3 students.
I'm friends with a few of them. Mostly boys. The girls, some of them, are just overbearing and see the girls in my class as competition. They take it upon themselves to outdo us and the reward for such pointless rivalry is their class boys.
Well, I'm not holding my breath on prom as my parents won't let me go, I don't have a date, I wasn't invited and most importantly, I. Don't. Want. To. Go!
"Good morning babe! Ready for prom?" Dina squeals as I approach them in the library. By them, I mean she and Silvy.
"You know prom isn't till like.. nine months away. Like we are hardly done with the first term and prom is the third term!
Also, each term is three months so I have enough time to come up with an answer to your question." I reply as I take my seat.
"Such a party pooper! " Silvy replies with a scrunched nose.
"Well, I'm hoping Moses asks me. " Dina squeals.
"Moses? " I question in alarm. The school's fastest runner?
"Yup! He's cute, isn't he? " Dina replies with dreamy eyes.
"You better get ready to join the long demand line of ladies awaiting him. " I reply laughing. Causing her to punch my arm.
"I have no competition! " she scolds and I start laughing as I rub my aching arm.
"You both are lucky the librarian is absent. " Silvia remarks indirectly telling us that we are making noise.
"So, who are you going with? " I ask Silvy.
"Me? well anyone would do. Honestly, I'm just after the party rice, but, I would be on cloud nine if Kalifa should ask me" she says.
"You mean that cute, rich dude from Arab?" Dina squeals.
"Yup! " Silvy replies.
Kalifa has a Nigerian mom and an Arabian dad. I have no idea how that happened but it proves nothing is impossible, and the guy is everything to write home about.
"Hey, I've seen you talking to them severally, can't you help? " Dina asks. Moses and Kalifa are both SS3 boys I talk to but I can't discuss such with them! Not in my next life, and not in this one.
"Hell no! " I reply and Dina starts laughing.
"I was just kidding." She replies and I sigh in relief. For a moment there I thought she was being serious.
"So, anyone in mind? It's either Victor or you and Nathan who have secret surprise plans. " Silvia suddenly states. I don't like her comment for obvious reasons.
"Look! We haven't been invited and this isn't even our class prom! Unless you are ready to pay 10k as your fee for the singles ticket or provide love charms for your SS3 crushes to pick you, let's not discuss this! As for me, I'm not going! " I reply bluntly as I slam my books on the table.
"Babe calm down na. No, be a joke? " Silvia replies telling me to calm down in pidgin and that it was just a joke. However, I don't like it. I simply give a hallow smile to her and rise to my feet.
"Babe? " Dina questions.
"See you guys in the Biology lab. I'll save seats for you." I reply as I pack my things and begin to exit the library. Just as I make it out of the room and shut the door behind me, I bump into someone.
I am about to crash to the ground when I feel a strong arm around my waist.
"Sorry about that. " I hear the familiar voice say. I look up and find myself in Moses' arms.
"Oh. It's nothing, I'm also sorry. " I reply as I scramble back to my feet.
"Yeah, I've been meaning to talk to you about something," he says scratching the back of his head.
"About prom." He adds and I almost choke on the air I'm breathing. Dina's crush can't ask me to prom! Come on fate! This is just cruelty.
This drama isn't fair!
