She growled when I called her and idiot, but i didn't care about it.
I looked as they all headed towards that dragon.
"Hey, come closer to me." I said, pulling Vaelora closer to me.
"E-eh...?!" She busted, her face instantly heated up and turned red.
But I didn't notice it at all.
I did that so I can hide her and mine presence completely.
Then with her sticking close to my body, i followed behind them.
Walking through that passageway further, they soon reached the place where that supposed dragon was at.
It was a red looking dragon, but strangely enough it was small, very smaller than what a normal dragon i have seen before.
"It's a lesser." Vaelora muttered.
"What's that?"
"Dragons who have very impure bloodline are called lesser, we don't even consider them as a part of dragon race. Those lesser are born usually when a dragon have a child with someone of another race, which pollutes their bloodline." She explained.
So that's why dragons are seen very rarely interacting with outside world.
But since it's a lesser dragon, it wouldn't have had the potential to reach rank 8.
This only makes sense if there is something here that is helping it to make his bloodline pure hence enhancing its potential or there is a very huge source of mana nearby that helped it.
Without waiting for a second, they immediately engaged in battle.
The 3 knights attacked him with their enchanced strength, while the rank 7 mage supported them to the fullest.
They seemed like a solid team, but one thing was off... not about them, but the dragon.
It didn't take me much to realise that it lacked the basic experience.
It definitely had the high rank, but it did not knew much about combat.
It was randomly throwing its flames.
But at the end, it was still a dragon, a high level beast with a high rank.
It's defense was hard to pierce through, the knights who were just at rank 6, were nowhere strong enough to pierce through it's hardened scales.
When they were engaging in that battle, my eyes wandered off towards the door behind that dragon.
It was huge, bigger than the dragon itself who was almost 20 feet.
Carved with different patterns and some runic symbol, that door was unaffected even when it received some of the missed attacked from the dragon and the knights.
There were also some images in that door.
The most noticeable thing was, a person with horns looking at the top, where there was a light.
But there was an unusual smirk on his face. And beneath him were many different more people, seemingly engaging in a intense battle.
Picturing that scene inside my brain... I couldn't help but feel strange.
It felt as if I was related with that scene but at the same time, I wasn't.
It felt like me, but that wasn't me.
Amidst all of that chaos that was unfolding beneath him, that person seemed to be amused.
As if he was enjoying the killing and massacre that happened before him.
Is this what my past life was?
A demon, who was the pure embodiment of evil.
Someone who played with everyone.
If this was me, then I definitely do have many doubts if I will like what I am about to witness now.
And just as I was focues on the door. I didn't realize an attack from that dragon coming towards me.
"Watch out!!!" Vaelora yelled, and pushed me down.
She went above me, taking that attack on herself.
That attack directly landed on her.
I reacted immediately and dissipated the fire on her.
"Hey, you good?" I asked, worried about her.
It was my fault that I was careless and she had to take the attack for me.
It was a random fire from that dragon.
I shook her body, but there was no response from her.
I immediately checked for her injuries, and sighed with relief when I found that she wasn't injured heavily.
She was a fire dragon herself, so her resistance to fire was impeccable.
I healed her using the mana. This was another perk which came with me having the world tree inside me.
But she lost her consciousness during this.
She was already weakened when she fell from that high and now this? It will take a while for her to recover from this.
But now that she was injured and my stealth has been undone, we couldn't hide from them anymore.
The three of the knights continued to engage in the battle with the dragon, but the mage looked at us.
He was surprise to find that they were being followed and he couldn't notice it at all.
"Who are you?!" He screamed at me.
I gently placed the unconscious body of Vaelora on the ground.
Even though I would have been fine if that attack had hit me, but she still protected me.
She is a good girl. Even though I hate the lizards, it isn't to the point that I will go on a rampage killing them.
But still...
"Thanks for that." I said looking at her.
"I owe you this one, but I cannot sit idly by when I owe someone, I became restless. So to make it up, I will help you to get the inheritance of that dragon."
Which I feel has been taken by none other than that red lesser in front.
I cannot think of another reason on how it was able to get to that point without anything.
But it simply do not have the ability to use that inheritance to the fullest.
I got up. My face emotionless, turning to look at that mage, I said,
"Me? I am... nobody." I said coldly.
That mage gritted his teeth, and cursed.
"That wrench, did she fool us all? She gave that information to other people as well."
He was spouting some bullshit that I couldn't care less about.
Now that it has come to this, then I shall do what I have been waiting for.
