Ruin of an ancient demon, huh?
There is no doubt that it is the ruin where i got my powers from.
So the will of that dragon still remains, he might be trying to come back again using her.
But I am sure she hasn't thought of things like that.
"Can I ask you a question too?" Her timid voice sounded again.
I raised my eyebrow wondering what could she be trying to ask.
"And what if I say no?"
"You asked me too, why can't I do it? That is not fair." She raised her voice slightly, showing her temper.
"There is nothing that's fair in this world. But fine, you can ask, but make it quick."
"You are a demon too, right?" She asked, seemingly unsure about her question.
"And what if I am?"
"Do you not feel isolated? When you cannot talk with anyone. I haven't spoken with anyone beside my father and mother. I see a lot of kids my age, but I haven't spoken with any of them. Did you go through the same thing?"
I was expressionless listening to her questions.
It wasn't as if I did not feel her at all.
Loneliness.
I suffered through it for many years. The feeling of not being able to talk with people or everyone avoiding you is indeed painful.
We the living are creatures that cannot live without the contact with another person. We are not machines who do not feel any emotions.
Even if it's just small, I see a past of mine in her.
Now, I do not have to worry about being alone once again.
I have a family that is waiting for me to return. Even though, she does as well, but for a child to not be able to live their childhood is the greatest curse.
"I do not. I never have." I replied coldly.
She lowered her head. This probably wasn't the kind of answer that she was hoping for.
But I did not stop there.
"Do not try to isolate yourself from others. Even if you have a demonic heart, that doesn't change anything. What kind of person you become is entirely upto you, just a demonic heart doesn't clarify what kind of person you are. So be yourself. Beside, nobody will realize you have a demonic heart unless you tell them."
She raised her head. Her expression shifted from her gloomy self now.
This might not be what she exactly hoped for, but this would suffice for her.
"You understand, little girl?" I asked.
"We are the same age." She said, slightly disgusted or maybe irritated by my calling her little girl.
"You are little than me." I immediately refuted to her.
She was really smaller than me, she might not even be 5 feet tall.
"If you got your answer now, you should go to your father. Forget about that inheritance, that is only a trap for you."
"Trap?" She asked, puzzled.
And as I was about to tell her what might be hiding inside, I felt a sudden change in mana around me.
A huge amount of mana was gathering towards a certain direction.
I instantly turned towards that direction.
This sensation i felt... it was coming from that ruin.
I tried to see what's happening there using my mana sense, only to find that four people gathering around that ruin.
What are they doing?
Looking further, they were using some kind of magical device, which was engraved with some ruins.
I feel as if they are trying to do something inside. And looking at their mana, they are not from this planet.
I should go there fast.
I did not wate any more time and immediately went towards the ruin.
If they for there before me, then I might not be able to get what I want from inside.
Within seconds, I reached near the ruins.
They were still holding that device with rune, a total of 4 people who had their faces hidden with capes.
Are they part of the people who came with the king that day?
But they seem weaker.
One of them was at rank 7 and other at rank 6.
As for why I am sure of them bot being from this planet is because they are letting out demonic mana.
They are demons, or maybe a race similar to one.
"Who are they?"
I was hiding behind a rock, then a voice sounded from my back.
I turned my head at her, and with a slightly angry tone, I asked, "why are you here? Did I not tell you to go back?"
"Don't yell at me." Her disgruntled voice sounded again.
"Alright, just do not make any noise and don't act on your own."
Saying that I looked ahead once again.
"Aren't they demons too? How come there are more demons?"
"They are not from here and... keep quiet, will you?"
Ignoring her, I shifted my focus on them.
I wasn't afraid of being noticed by them as I was already hiding my presence, and I wasn't worried about her because she has no presence.
I tried to listen to what they were talking about, using my heightened senses.
"How long is this gonna take?" One of them asked to the one, who was holding that device.
"Just few more time. It is still working."
"Is this really that ruin? What if we are on a different one?"
"No, we have already explored every other ruin, this is the last one. And if this isn't it, then..."
"Then, we have been fooled, right?"
"No, they will never dare to fool our leader. If they do, then they will be forced to disappear from existence."
"Yeah, they have fallen too low now, that they have to sell the information about this ruin to us."
"Is this really his ruin?"
"Probably, because it was sold to us by someone that betrayed them. Otherwise, even if they die, they will never speak a word about this ruin."
"So, can we really find that inside this ruin? That core of that demon... the godly core." His voice was filled with greed taling about it.
So, to have a better understanding. They are here to find the godly core...
But aren't they too late?
I mean, I already got that years ago.
"Wipe that look from your face. Just having that core isn't enough, not anyone can handle the potency of such cores. That's the reason why there are so many different ranks of core. Our leader is the only one, who can handle it, and if we can get our hands on that, then... nobody will be able to defeat us in the coming war."
"Yeah, the last time that war happened was when that demon was alive. It has been said that he played with everyone, making all of the races his puppet, and ascended to godhood at the end."
"Well, that is only a myth. He was indeed behind the death of many races, but it is still a mystery if he ascended to godhood or not. If he had indeed been successful, then why would he make a ruin for himself?"
Well, a valid reasoning from him. So he isn't braindead, huh?
I was thinking they were just some fodders, but maybe he got some brains.
And this demon that they are talimh about is probably me from past right?
Just what kind of person I was for them to glaze me so much?
I don't think I would have done such things, like making all the races my puppets and killing them... I wouldn't do it, right?
Hmm, maybe I would have. This does seem like a thing I would have done.
But why though? I wouldn't have done it without any reason for sure.
"Oh its opening now." One of them yelled, happily.
I looked at Vaelora wonders if I should take her with me or not?
She met my gaze, and looked at them firmly, saying, "I will go."
I sighed inwardly.
"Then I won't be responding of you die inside."
Saying that, we waited for them go inside first.
A portal like thing appeared at the entrance of the ruin.
One after another, all four of them went inside.
I waited for a bit more, to let them go further ahead.
After a few moments, I walked out from behind the rock. And without looking at Vaelora, I said, "Listen to my every word."
I walked towards the portal as well.
I waited before it for a while.
My mind was empty, I wasn't thinking about anything, but maybe I was anxious.
Anxious about what I will see inside. I took a deep breath and entered inside the ruin.
