"We entered what looked like a game room, there was a snooker table at the center of the room and a big screen tv for video games. It doesn't seem like a party, just some couple of adults loafing around, drinking, and playing games. I only recognize her elder brother and cousin, she introduced the rest as either her cousins or their family friends...
I gave her the gifts I bought and asked to be excused. She agreed, said I should give her five minutes to sort something before seeing me out. She knew I love playing games so she handed me a gamepad.
I swear it was not even up to five minutes that she left that I felt a hand on my thigh... It was him. He told me Jumoke was busy, I should relax and he would take care of me and keep me company till she arrived.
I was surprised when I saw the room was empty already. There were like nine people in the room, where did they all go? How could they all have left and I would not be aware? Stupid me! I was so engrossed in the game...
I thought he was just going to talk his usual I want to date you nonsense and make passes at me so I stood up to leave... He yanked my arm back and forced me back on the chair. I had Josh on speed dial. I brought out my phone to call my brother, he thought I wanted to call Jumoke, so he laughed and said: 'You are such a fool! Who did you think set you up for this?
Set me up!? I was only able to scream two words 'Josh help!' When my brother picked his call. He slapped my phone out of my hand and slapped me hard. Then he demanded that I should remove my clothes by myself...
I was scared! I immediately went down on my knees and started begging him. I mean what else could I have done?... He was drunk. He dragged me by my hair over to the center of the room and slammed my head into the floor near the foot of the snooker table...
My vision first went sort of blurry, and then I lost consciousness. Thank God I had on jean trousers cos when I came to, he was straddling me while struggling to open my belt in his drunken state.
I pushed him hard and tried to run for the door. I didn't even make it halfway in my dizzy state before he caught up with me. He held me by my waist and threw me against the snooker table. I felt this deep pain on my side...
I grabbed a snooker ball and threw it hard at his face, the ball hit his eyebrow and he got injured, blood was coming out and dripping all over his shirt...
I thought he was going to kill me then cos he looked furious, bearing his teeth exactly like a wild animal. I was screaming for help, crying, and begging him not to hurt me, while he calmly removed his t-shirt like he had all the time in the world. I screamed and screamed but nobody came...
He took his time to press the tee on his bleeding brow while looking at me with this creepy look in his eyes... My begging fell on deaf ear, cos he started slapping and hitting me everywhere. While beating me, he was screaming;
'Stop acting innocent cos I know you're not. I know you've fucked different men. Jumoke told me you're a whore and how you've slept with all the male teachers in your school for good grades. How could a whore like you think you're too good for me?...'
And so he went on and on till I lost consciousness..."
By now Abby was trembling and having shortness of breath. It was obvious she was struggling to control her emotions and having a panic attack.
"Hey... Hey babe... Calm down! Look at me... Look at me, Abby!" He said gently but firmly. "Now calm down and focus on your breathing..." He said while rubbing her back.
"Breathe in as slowly, deeply, and gently as you can, through your nose... Then breathe out slowly, deeply, and gently through your mouth." He instructed. Abby did exactly as he said before she finally calmed down.
"It's okay love, you don't have to talk about it anymore..." He hugged her close and whispered over her head.
"No! I want to tell you. I've not talked about this with anyone apart from my therapist. Talking to you about it felt like I'm purging out the poison from my soul, don't you get it? I really want to talk about it."
"Are you sure, because..."
"Yes, I'm sure!" She interrupted and kissed him firmly on his lips. I'm fine okay..." She assures him before continuing
"So I was badly beaten until I lost consciousness and then I was dumped far away from home in front of a hospital. It took my family three days to locate me. I don't have any form of identification on me, they took my phone and my face was not recognizable. Eyes and mouth swollen shut and all..."
"My whole family was there when I woke up after being unconscious for two weeks. Matthew and Mark came back, they were all crying... My parents...and my brothers all of them were crying because of how stupid I was...
I had a concussion, fractured ribs, misaligned jaw... God, you can't imagine what I went through afterward Tunde, I was pretty messed up..." Her voice broke and she started crying.
"So messed up!... I was just sixteen. I-I thought she was my friend. How could she have hated me that much and I couldn't tell?... She hated me that much and stupid me couldn't see it on her..."
She couldn't hold her emotions any longer. A great tremor overtook her and she gave a heart-wrenching sob that tore through her chest. Her grief poured out in a flood of uncontrollable tears, purging and healing her.
Tunde's face was hard as stone. His heart filled with pain because of her grief. He wished he could take the painful memories from her so she wouldn't remember any more of that day.
"It's okay baby, you are safe now. No one is ever going to hurt you again, I promise you."
She cried hard in his arms and he held her close to himself through it all, consoling and speaking soft encouraging words to her.
"Go to sleep now my love!" He calmed her down till she finally drifted off to sleep.
Tunde's eyes were red. 'He is going to pay for what he did to you, The son of a bitch is sure going to pay, I swear it!' He thought fiercely. He carried her into the bedroom and carefully laid her on the bed.
Then he went back outside by the pool, picked up his phone that he left there, and made some calls to the three people on his team that he trusted the most, asking them to meet him at the Three Kings head office.
