Ending September Chapter 48

The whole place looked so lively as kids dressed in white and pastel fairy gowns ran around while being chased by those little boys who were wearing pastel-colored tux as well. The garden looks so magical as it was decorated with vines like materials and colorful flowers. The cheerful sounds of laughter and discussions from the guests also filled the place with liveliness. September smiled as he looked down from the balcony of the room he was using. A few hours from now, he'll be meeting his wife in the altar. He'll finally see the prettiest bride he'd ever see as she walked down the aisles to him. He knows that they were already married and this was just for formality to some people. But to him, today would be the start of their true marriage. "Daddy!" September turned around to face his daughter who just came inside the room with Falcon's daughter. They were both wearing the same style of fairy gowns that the flower girls wore. They were also wearing flower crowns above their heads. "Look Daddy! I looked like a fairy!" Fiona cheered as she gently tapped the flower crown on her head, afraid that she might ruined her 'fairy' look. "Yes, you are princess." "I am a fairy today! Not a princess!" Fiona interjected while pouting making September laughed. "But you would always be Daddy's princess," September said making Fiona grin widely. "Really Daddy?" "Of course!" He readily agreed with a gentle smile. "Yey!" The child then wiggled her way out of his hold to go back playing with Falcon's daughter. The two little girls ran out of the room whispering to each other. Falcon who was about to enter the room saw the two mini adults and just chuckled. Falcon waited for the little girls to fully leave the area before he closed the door behind him amd handed September a brown envelope. "I knows it's your wedding but, I guess you should see this." September sighed and gave in as he walked towards his butler and took the envelope from him. He held the envelope on his hands for awhile before he looked up to meet the butler's eyes. "Do I really need to open this today?" He asked. Falcon stared at him for a while, wondering if this was actually the best idea. A moment later, the butler sighed heavily as he slid both of his hands on his pockets and nodded at him. "Yeah. I guess you should." September's shoulders slumped with the butler's response. He eyed the envelope on his hands before once again, sighed heavily. He then slowly opened the envelope and was about to take out the load of papers inside when suddenly a knock on the door disrupted them. September hurriedly put the papers back in the envelope as Falcon went to open the door. "What is it?" September asked as he neared by the door after securing the envelope on his laptop bag. "Sir, we have a problem." The wedding personnel announced. "What? The bride's missing?" "Maybe she run off?" "What a waste! How can Mr. Thorne's life so tragic?" "I thought they're already happily married? They act all lovey-dovey in public." September could hear endless gossips and murmurs as soon as he entered the garden where his wedding was supposed to happen. "What happened?" He asked the coordinator. "We went to her room to check for her but the makeup artist was the only one staying in there. She said that the bride actually never came to her room." September closed his eyes tightly when he heard that. He was trying so hard to extinguish the rising panic and devastation inside him. This would bring him no good. He needed to think straight at this moment. "Did she came to the venue atleast?" He asked as he looked at Falcon who just arrived from the control room. "She didn't," Falcon answered. September sighed as he massaged the bridge of his nose. They were good last night. Maeve was even excited and was looking forward for today. So what was actually happening? "Sir," September looked at the butler with tired and problematic face. They've been running around the whole place to look for Maeve for a few hours already. When September saw the worry on the butler's face he sighed. "I know, Falcon. I know." He said before he turned his gaze to the garden filled with people. He just couldn't understand why it should be today. They can do it tomorrow all they want but not today. Today was his wedding. He once again, sighed deeply before taking out his phone from his pocket. He searched for Maeve's number and stared at her contact details for awhile before finally clicking the call button. He had to wait for a few rings before the call was answered. He smiled bitterly. "Hon..." He called out when there was no one speaking from the other side of the call. "Why are you calling?" He heard his wife's cold voice once again. This was the very same voice he used to hear almost a year ago. When she was still out of his league. "Where are you? The staffs were waiting for you here," he asked, pretending like he actually didn't know what was happening. "Oh. Was it the wedding? Forget it. I won't be coming," September struggled to gulped the sickening feeling he felt inside. He never felt this much pain before. No matter how hard his parents hit him before, the pain he felt for those bruises were nothing compared to the stinging feeling he felt when Maeve talked like this. Like she didn't care at all. "Send Fiona home. Bye." She said in a cold voice before the call finally ended. "What did she say?" Falcon who was standing behind him asked. September turned around and with a sad smile he said, "The storm had arrived, Falcon."
