Double Claims: The Lost mate Chapter 18

Laura looked at the maid with expectation after she told her that she knew a way. The Luna was going to do anything to save her child. The maid took a deep breath and started explaining. "There was someone in my family that fell into a deep coma after an accident." Laura listened attentively, waiting for the maid to mention something useful to her. "And what happened to your relative?" Laura inquired, when the maid paused talking for a while. "She recovered when we called a witch to treat her." The maid finally said to the Luna. "A witch?" Laura repeated, her brows crinkling slightly. "Yes ma." The maid replied. Laura was in deep thought. She knew that witches were cunning, and they never helped anyone without wanting something in return. "Do you know any of them or anything about their whereabouts?" Laura knew that the witches weren’t people that came out in the open. They had caused problems in numerous packs, so they were banned from there. "There’s a witch in the north, and she’s powerful." The maid answered her. Laura sat on the space on Maria’s bed while the maid continued cleaning the room. She still wondered if it was right to involve the witch in Maria’s case. The room was warm and cleaner than before. The brown curtains shielded the excess light from entering the room. Although, some light rays were cast on Maria’s pale skin. She knew that she couldn’t take a decision alone, and had to involve Reynolds about it. "Follow me." Laura instructed the maid as she stood up from the bed and walked out of the room. The maid followed behind her. They stopped at the center room in the pack house. Reynolds was seated with some of his men. Laura excused him, and requested for his attention. He stood up from where he was and walked towards her. She pulled him into a corner where the maid was so that they could discuss it properly. "She said she has a solution to Maria’s problem." Laura said, referring to the maid. Reynolds listened attentively without interrupting. "She said the witches can help Maria to recover." As soon as she dropped the last statement, Reynold’s face had a slight frown on it. It almost seemed like he was displeased about what she said. "Have you forgotten about what the witches did years ago? They are not to be trusted." Reynolds acknowledged the fact that the witches aren’t good people. Laura continued to press on. She also knew what the witches had done, but if they were the only option to save her daughter, she didn’t mind running to them. "But it’s just for once. Only they can save Maria." Reynolds took a deep breath and glanced quickly at the maid. He then looked into his wife’s eyes. She looked extremely worried about their daughter. He couldn’t afford to make her more troubled. Despite the problem he had with the witches, he had to agree to her. "If it’s the only way to help Maria, then let’s do it." Laura reached out to her husband, hugging him tightly, and affirming her love for him. He turned towards the maid who had been standing quietly by the side. "Call the witch to come here." The maid nodded her head and left the presence of the alpha and Luna. The room which Maria entered inside to train was called the naked tomb. It was operated by some sort of magic. The room had been in existence for decades, since the first alpha constructed it. It worked like a gaming room, where there were a set of rules that guarded it, and the door wouldn’t close unless the creature was completely defeated. That day, Jada wasn’t supposed to allow Maria to enter inside there. Jada knew the lore of the naked tomb, but she hadn’t expected then Maria would be assigned to defeat a kraken. For now, Alpha Reynolds had closed the access of the room and no one was allowed to train inside there. It was considered far too dangerous. It was the same room that put Maria in the condition she was in, right now. Recently, no females had been taken from the pack, but the females were still told to put on their veils as they never knew when trouble was going to strike. But as Maira laid on the bed, her face was uncovered without a veil. There were a few bruise marks and cuts. As she was unconscious, the wounds had not healed. Laura entered the room and stayed by Maria’s side. Every time she came inside, she hoped that her daughter would cough and wake up. She waited expectantly, but her expectations didn’t come to reality. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ novel✶fire.net She could only hope that the witch that was being spoken of would be able to help her daughter. After being away for hours, the maid returned to Laura. "I’ve reached out to the witch. She will be here soon." Laura nodded her hand and thanked the girl. She took a deep breath and stood up from the bed where she had been sitting. After leaning closer and kissing Maria on the forehead, she left the room to her own chambers. Her mind kept wandering about several things. First of all, she wondered what the witches were going to ask for in exchange for helping Maria. She knew they wouldn’t help without expecting in return. "You look stressed." Reynolds said as he scooped his wife into his arms for a warm embrace. Reynolds was an elderly man, but not too old. He was still strong enough to lead the pack and protect the people "Don’t worry, she’s going to be okay." Reynolds comforted his wife. "I know. I can’t lose my baby girl." They carried out their activities, while waiting for the witch to arrive. Laura tried to focus, even though she kept asking herself if it was the best thing to involve the scheming witches.
