DC Comics: The Bookstore Witch Chapter 28

As it turns out, Teekl was a good new addition to her shop. As the older ladies who visited seemed to like petting the cute little thing, and there was now a small sign of warning outside about the cat, for those with allergies. She'd hate to make anyone sick should they visit and not know about it. Teekl had quickly become the resident book cat, and was regularly seen lounging around the shop on book shelves and purring as she rubbed up against the customers. She had also been fitted with a new collar that was made by Wanda, fitted with magic that would keep the cat safe from any sort of attacks. Having absorbed Klarion's power into herself, Wanda had quickly noticed that her own chaos magic had been strengthened by a decent margin, as it had grown "Purer" and now had another aspect of chaos within it, courtesy of the unique magic of this universe adding a new twist to it. A couple of the otherworldly customers had returned during the next few days, the first of which being the golden trio, who had brought a lot of books to exchange in return for some of her own, the books had promptly been copied and put out to sell, as well as copied of course. Emma Swan had surprisingly returned on her own, which had been...interesting. "So...Swan, what're you back here for? I didn't expect you to return after I scared the piss out of that little Queen of yours" Wanda asked, staring at Emma in slight surprise as the woman sat across from her, a thing of bourbon in front of her, courtesy of Wanda. "Yeah well finding someone to vent to is impossible in Storybrook. Half of them are loyal to my parents, or are just dickheads. You on the other hand, are an outside opinion that might actually help me out with all of...well, my life" Emma replied, as Wanda raised an eyebrow, before chuckling. "I'm assuming trouble in paradise?" Wanda asked, as Emma snorted. "Yeah yeah. Me and Regina are on the outs again, her mom's shown up with some pirate guy. And now she's using the magic that you gave her to stop us from well...stopping her. But that's not why I'm here. I'm actually here about something else" Emma said, as she sipped on the bourbon, Wanda raised an eyebrow in response. "Really? And here I thought you wanted to talk about your crush on the Evil Queen. But alright, who do you wish to vent about? I don't mind listening, not much else to do at the moment, it's been a slow day today" Wanda replied with a shrug, not minding this at all. The day had indeed been slow, with not a lot of people showing up just yet. "Well, you know all about who I am and who my parents are, right?" Emma asked, as Wanda nodded. "Snow White and Prince Charming. True loves" Wanda replied. "Yeah well, they're...not the best parents. You know. Leaving me in a wardrobe to suffer alone for decades in orphanages and foster families. And recently they've come back, been trying to get into my good graces or some shit" Emma grumbled, as Wanda nodded in understanding. "They're acting like they never did anything to you, aren't they? Acting like you're their lovely daughter and that they didn't sacrifice you so you can play Saviour. While they were shoved into Storybrook, sacrificing their own daughter for the sake of a Kingdom that you don't give a damn about" Wanda responded, now realizing what this was about. Emma's parents were...not the best. David Nolan, aka Prince Charming, was a good man, not the best father, but a good man. While Snow White from what Wanda remembered, was...honestly not a great mother. Expecting Emma to never do wrong, to be the perfect Saviour, treating her like she was a young child, when in reality she was a full grown woman. "Yeah...you got that right. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. But I-I was just wondering, do I have the right to be mad at them? To hate them for forcing me through...all of it? To sacrifice me for something I don't give a damn about? The only good thing that came out of my life was Henry, and even that came from a prick" Emma asked, looking slightly vulnerable as Wanda shook her head. "You have the right to be mad at them, Emma. I'd be more concerned for you if you weren't. They sacrificed you to an unknown fate and believed you to be this Saviour figure. And while its true that you have an immense amount of light magic within you, that doesn't mean that they needed to do...well, all of what they did. You would have broken the curse either way, it was destined that way" Wanda responded, agreeing that Emma had the right to hate them, and quite frankly, Wanda would have if she was her. "And what about Regina? Why-Why is it that I hate my own parents for sacrificing me, but not the woman that casted the curse?" Emma asked, looking down at the drink as Wanda smiled softly. "Because you, my new friend, are in love with her. It's quite obvious, and while she may deny it, she feels the same. Love works in mysterious and incredible ways, and your love is one of them. As for the hating her thing, it's simple. Because you don't actually care, as while she casted the curse, she was manipulated by the likes of Rumpelstiltskin. You also know that your parents are the reason you were put into that position as a child, not her, even if she had been the one to cast it" Wanda replied with a smile, as Emma looked into her eyes silently. "...Shit...how the hell am I going to explain that I am in love with the Evil Queen of all people?" "You be upfront with her. She feels the same as you do, Emma, but you'll have to try hard to make her realize that fact. She's been hurt...a lot, I know the details but I won't tell you them. Just know that love has hurt her more than anything, and that Snow White's father was a horrible man, especially to Regina" Wanda replied. Emma stopped as she frowned at those words, wondering what she meant by that, before her eyes widened slowly but surely in understanding. "You mean that he-" "It isn't my place to say, Emma" Wanda said, cutting her off, that alone was practically confirmation, as Emma scowled, now understanding why Regina likely despised her mother, why she hated her so much. Why she hated Snow White to go so far as to curse thousands of people. "I-I have to go, Wanda. But...thanks for the talk, seriously" Emma said, giving her a thankful nod as she got up and ran off, leaving Wanda to watch her with a soft smile on her face. After Emma had left, Wanda suspects she had a talk with Regina, at least she hopes so. She didn't know as the woman hadn't returned just yet. Besides the golden trio and Emma, Daenerys had returned twice, to buy more books on dragons, and to exchange more books in order to curry her favor. Which was beginning to work, as Wanda was interested in seeing Planetos in person, even if it was laughably weak. Mostly because she was interested in Old Valyria and it's neat little secrets, whatever they were. That and she wanted to see if the world truly housed Gods or not. In terms of normal customers, there hadn't been anyone too interesting that had showed up, besides another visit from Dick and his friends, who had bought a few more comics and some more books that interested each of them. She was suspecting that Bruce was going to be visiting soon, or perhaps one of his fellow League members, as she knew they had talked about her. Not something she was surprised about, but she was waiting to see what was to happen. At the moment Wanda was sitting behind the desk, Teekl on her lap, purring as she ran her hands through her new pet's soft fur, as the cat nuzzled against her warmth. Wanda had come to love the cat over the past few days, and was quite happy with her decision to take her as her pet. Wanda looked up from her pet as the door dinged, and opened. Upon looking at who entered, her eyebrow shot to the sky, a small smirk formed upon her lips, as she gazed at the form of the one and only... ____________________________________________________________________ Gain access to an additional chapter early for each of my main fanfics (4 chapters on total), as well as other bonuses (like more than 75 exclusive stories) on my for 3 dollars a month!
