Ruby's pov:
Just as I mocked her with my sarcastic respect, she slammed her hand on the table out of anger, "How dare you!" but she immediately felt pain in her hand after hitting it so hard on the thick glass table. She started holding and gently massaging her hand to try to ease the pain. It was a site to see!
Sometimes I did not even know why she was even trying! She would always loose whenever she tried to force me to do something I did not want to do.
Anyways, seeing her in misery was something that always amused me. She kept on massaging her hand as the pain did not ease instantly as she thought it would.
I was cracking up so much! "Erica you know hunny, you ain't ever gonna win" I laughed.
Our relationship was not like any typical boss and assistant, we chill with each other. But I gotta admit, I drive her nuts. But I enjoyed it though, every second of it.
Just then she lifted her head and took a close look at me with her popped strained eyes which were filled with some anger.
"Shut up Ruby! Let me focus!" she screamed while walking back and forth across the room with her hands at the back. She usually did this when she had her 'brainstorming' sessions, as she likes to call them. I felt she was just putting unnecessary pressure on her mind as whatever she used to say thereafter made no sense to me.
"Since Michael did his job, he will be coming back as soon as he gets a flight here." Erica was fidgeting with her hands while saying this. I rolled my eyes as that was what I just told her! She literally repeated what I took the trouble of getting here to say.
I let it go but I squinted the more I looked at Erica walking back and forth in the cabin! She looked very stressed than usual as if she committed a crime or something.
I was very interested in what work she made Michael do at that point. She kept me in the dark regarding it, so I had no clue. But I desired to know more!
"Oh, I almost forgot, I have to tell you something Ruby!" she declared with her eyes popping and a huge smile forming on her face. It creeped me out a bit to be honest!
"What? That you're finally getting a nose job? 'Cause that needs major help!" I clearly just tried to pull her leg; it was a lot of fun! But it was kind of true as well...
I let out some laughter while she just stood still building up anger within her! It was evident that she got annoyed. The look on her face was priceless, regardless!
"Shut up Ruby! That's not it! And no! My nose is perfect, got it?!"she yelled! She was too sensitive about herself, that anyone I didn't care though.
"Oh well, then tell me what happened?" I smirked.
"Yesterday after the party post-midnight, I was walking towards the lobby of the hotel to leave and head back home. And at that very moment, I saw Sam and Jack!"
"Who? The YouTubers?" I questioned with a confused look on my face wondering what she was talking about. The question hit me out of the blue!
"Yes! And I noticed there was some tension between them, I could feel it! So, I went ahead and tiptoed my way to hide behind a pillar to witness and hear their entire conversa-"
"So, you decided to eavesdrop on the creators of your platform? You are a crazy woman!" I commented and ridiculed her behavior.
"Oh, will you listen to me, you goodie person!" She demanded.
I decided to calm down and listen to what she had to say even though I was grossed out by her actions!
At that moment she formed her hands into fists and gave an angry look! I gotta admit she looked like a psychopath.
I rolled my eyes and continued listening to whatever she had to say. My curiosity got the better of me and I needed to know more.
"Apparently, Jack is mad at Sam for forgetting his promise that he made for the day." she said as she looked at me with her demon-looking eyes.
"So? What's so special about that? What are you trying to say?" I knew she was up to something no good! My gut was never wrong!
"So? I spoke to them before during previous creator meet-ups and they have told me that they have gone through a lot together in the past and those experiences made them the best of friends forever and yesterday Sam abandoned that very same best friend for my dear pesky girl Olivia"
"Oh, Olivia? The one who bashed you online 2 years ago and humiliated you in front of millions?" I added as I recalled everything that happened in regard to Olivia Adams.
"Yes, the one who bashed me as a person and questioned my abilities as the CEO of YouTube!! You don't have to keep reminding me Ruby!" She clenched her fists, she was breathing heavily, her eyes looked scary to be honest. If anyone even mentions Olivia's name in front of her, she gets infuriated!
"Because of her, her fans and others 'cancelled me', no one trusted me, so many people lost their trust and faith in me. I lost everything because of her!" she added.
She picked her phone, opened the Twitter app and looked at Olivia's tweets about her from 2 years ago! More specifically, the day when YouTube wasn't performing well due to some technical issues and many users were experiencing glitches and creators were not receiving their paychecks. It was Erica's fault as she did not acknowledge the issues first and did not direct the team well, but she refused to believe it even to this day!
"She ruined me! Her fans and even other creators attacked me!"
She started scrolling through the replies from Olivia's tweets about her and carefully looked at them with full attention and focus. The replies were filled with hate and threats directed towards Erica.
I actually never understood till this day why Erica was mad at Olivia. Olivia only gave valid critism! What happened with people attacking Erica was not in Olivia's control! It is the internet for God's sake!
A small tear formed at the corner of Erica's eye as she was re-living all those horrible moments of the past. It was a tear of anger and not sadness though. I could see her body tensing up. Frankly if anyone would see her now, they would be terrified of her.
She turned to my face while grinding her teeth against each other and spoke in rage, "But now is the time I take revenge on her. I'm going to make her life hell! I had already initiated my plan but now I am going to use Sam and Jack as my puppets!"
I did not like what was going on. And what did she mean? She already initiated her plan. Did it have something to do with Michael? I had so many questions in mind.
She started getting hyper and the anger was getting to her. She started becoming hysterical.
I immediately opened my purse, searched the main compartment quickly and took out the prescribed medicines for her. Her psychiatrist prescribed these tablets whenever Erica's anger levels would jump through the roof!
I ran to the table, grabbed the water pitcher and filled a glass to the top.
"Erica, calm down, take your medicines now!" I demanded.
She initially gave me a stubborn look, like most kids give when they do not want to listen, but she then quietly took the tablets from my hand, snatched the glass of water and consumed both the tablets.
"Your doctor said not to take stress! So please relax or you will hurt yourself!" I rebuked her. I felt like her mother instead of her assistant.
By that time, she finally calmed down and took a seat on her black leather chair.
"By the way, what did you make Michael do as part of your plan?" I questioned as she never told me why she sent Michael, who is her husband, to India. I needed to know what was going on.
She looked at me silently for a few seconds before she spun her revolving away in the opposite direction, facing her back towards me. I raised one eyebrow looking at her skeptically!
"You don't need to know that. Just do as I say." She said in a stern voice.
I knew like a stubborn brat she was not going to tell me anything! I knew breaking her down would take a million years, so I just rolled my eyes and walked out of the office.
I mean what's the worst that she and Michael could do!
Erica's pov:
I looked out and stared at the morning sky, "People think I'm crazy but they don't know what I'm made of!"
"Oh Olivia, you had your laugh 2 years ago, now it's finally time for me to have mine. You have no idea what my next move is!"
