Cursed System Chapter 31

But the thought made me hesitate. I had no one to test it on. And the memory of that hellish pain made my eyes ache just thinking about it. Unless I could activate it without the pain—which felt unlikely. For the next few days, I kept thinking. My eyes were still sore, but deep down, I could feel it. If I could truly grasp control of my Mana core... maybe I wouldn’t have to suffer like that again. Maybe next time... I could control it. [Previous Chapter] Secondly, the hellish torture I would have to go through again after activating the ability made me more than a little scared. Unless I could somehow skip the pain part—which was unlikely. With that thought in mind, I spent the next few days thinking. I couldn’t activate the ability again since my eyes still felt sore, but I could sense that if I grasped control of my Mana core and Mana itself, I might not need to go through that same pain to activate ’Cursed Intimidation’ again. And just like that, my first experiment began. My days slowly turned into continuous trial-and-error experiments, running simultaneously as I came up with different ideas or anything even remotely related to that event. After skipping through countless theories, I made no progress—only a mountain of failures. Even though I hadn’t grown up in a fantasy world, I had read countless novels and often fantasized about main character evolutions or becoming some overpowered species. Yet now that I actually found myself in such a situation, I momentarily struggled to accept it. After so many failures and zero results, I had already cursed every author I could remember. Everything they had written—and everything I could recall—felt like complete nonsense now. If not for the fact that I could still remember what had happened before as clearly as daylight, I would have suspected it was all some strange illusion caused by the system... or maybe just fear messing with my head. Meanwhile, I discovered that after that strange phenomenon of activating ’Cursed Intimidation’, my body had undergone some changes. I couldn’t properly describe them, but the most noticeable one was how my body seemed to go wild—or more accurately, how it was being forced to temporarily stop accepting food altogether. At first, I was confused and scared. I didn’t know whether I was sick or if this was a side effect of activating ’Cursed Intimidation’. But when it kept happening, I started to doubt that explanation. Whenever I tried to force myself to eat, every part of my body would experience heart-wrenching pain for half a day, accompanied by an intense fever. No matter how much I tried to hide it, it didn’t go unnoticed. My parents became even more worried, believing it was just an after-effect of the recent events. All they could do was feed me local herbs in hopes of lowering the fever. That was when I realized something was definitely wrong with my body—I just didn’t know what it was. What baffled me the most was that maybe because I was still growing, or maybe because of how strange I had been feeling lately, I found that every member of my family looked... extremely alluring. Enough to trigger an appetite. I knew it was abnormal. Unusual to the point that it couldn’t possibly be considered normal. As I continued studying myself and the strange changes my body was undergoing, I noticed two more things. First, I needed less and less sleep to feel energized, without any sense of exhaustion. Second, I no longer needed Mana to partially activate ’Cursed Eyes.’ That feeling reminded me of when I was still on Earth, reading web novels late into the night. It wasn’t new in my imagination—but experiencing it firsthand was entirely different. I searched my memories and thought to myself, "So this is what it means to subconsciously activate cursed eyes... right?" My thoughts kept on racing back and forth with different scenarios, until I arrived at an answer that felt the least believable. "Twilight creations." I hesitated. My theory might be wrong. My current traits overlapped with both ghouls and vampires, yet according to the system, I was clearly a cursed child, even though I didn’t exactly know what a cursed child meant, was I some kind of monster or even a demon? At least, that was what the analysis said. The thoughts swirled endlessly in my head, but I couldn’t make sense of why I felt this way. Was it because I had been practicing the meditation technique? Or what if... just maybe... being a cursed child meant I partially functioned like a vampire—or even every twilight creation combined? I wasn’t satisfied with these theories. As much as I loved twilight creations, deluding myself as being part of them only gave me a headache. As if worrying my family wasn’t already enough, I didn’t want to make a mistake that would hurt them—or make them wary of me, or worse, distrustful. But what if I could change everything? There wasn’t much I could do if I only kept thinking about it. Somewhere on an unknown island, atop a mountain hill surrounded by dense forest shrubs, a mild wind slowly blew, casting a unique sense of darkness over the land. An eerie silence filled the air. At the peak of the hill stood a fairly large, ancient castle, blending so seamlessly with the night sky that it was barely visible even under the moonlight. The moon itself glowed enchantingly, though the strange thing was that there appeared to be clusters of moons—almost like stars. Beside the castle stood a colossal wall, stretching nearly two thousand feet into the sky, shielding the structure from the outside world. Thick green moss covered both the wall [Author notes: Thank you for reading the novel if you want more Chapters please support the novel, we need golden tickets, powerstones, comments and reviews to increase the novel novel, yet I haven’t seen any of it.
