Elina stares at the clock on the wall, it was getting late at night and he wasn’t back. She was feeling sleepy already. Sambas had flew her home. In the morning. All she did was sleep all through. So felt so weak and tired.
And now she was seated on the couch, staring nonchalantly at the ongoing movie in the TV set. Her thought going back and forth Kenzo again.
Why isn’t he back yet. He said he would be here, well he didn’t specify the time he would come but he did say tonight.
And now it was past one in the morning and he wasn’t here yet.
She yawned, with heavy eyes. Which we shutting at intervals.

She had to stay awake, and wait till he comes back. He had to find her awake, waiting for him to come. That was what she planned to do.. but what happened after her eyes got shut the other time she had no idea..
Her eyes flapped opened to see the smiling face looking down at her. She blinked, what was she seeing?
He was home, when?
Did she?
Damn! She slaps her forehead. She definitely slept off while waiting for him. She did. She left off completely. And she was in her room. Did he bring her here. Cause she slept of in the couch. He took the hair off her face and smiled at her warmly, then brought down his head a little and kissed her on the head.
Elina gulped.
What was wrong with Kenzo, he was acting all weird.
She sat up.
“You’re awake?”
“Yes.” He was all dressed up already, going out.
“When did you come home last night?”
“Past four. Sorry you waited that long. You shouldn’t have.”
“I wanted to. I wanted to see you when you get in. Seems you’re leaving already.”
He nods.
“I’m busy, don’t wait tonight. I won’t be back early. Sambas would take you somewhere. You need to be strong and be ready to fight. Because a time would come and I won’t be there neither would sambas or Aziel. I want you to be prepared for anything.”
“What’s going to happen?”
“A lot.” He moved closer to her on the bed.
“I don’t know what they are planning. But it’s fatal. You can get hurt.” He exhaled. And broke the eye contact with her. Rubbed his palms on together. She studied him, was he nervous. Kenzo was nervous. He didn’t face her, but kept his head down.
He wanted to say something.
“I-I, you should know.”
“What should I know?” He looked up, and rakes his fingers through his hair.
“I’m part of a secret mafia.” He stare for a few seconds to get her reaction than looked away. She should know she couldn’t leave now, there was no way she would get out of his life anymore. But, what if, she found out his wedding is just a few weeks away. And he needs Zara to win the election. She was important, and Elina, Isn’t she important as well?
“It wasn’t really difficult to know.” Came her reply.
“Is that what made you looked nervous.”
“I don’t know why I was nervous.” He chuckled. She wrapped her hands around his chest and hugged him from behind. With her head on his back. Loving the manly scent of Kenzo. He removed her hands from his body and spun around to face her. He cupped her face.
“I’ve one question for you?”
She nods at him. He get that as a go ahead.
“Do you want it here or there?”
“There?”
“In the bathroom.”
“Why in the bathroom?”
“So I can get you washed up.”
His voice turned husky. She felt her cheeks flushed. His lips went down to her neck. She was hoping and longing for a kiss, but when she saw he wasn’t gonna kiss her she felt disappointed.
He smirked seeing the disappointed look in her face. His kiss took her off guard, she wasn’t expecting him to kiss her. Thus, she was dumbfounded when she felt his lips on hers..
“Boss!” Aziel voiced yelled through the door. Cutting off the romance that was just about to begin. Kenzo pulled back from Elina.
“We need to go now, he just drove out of his house.” Aziel briefed.
Kenzo sighed.
“I’ve to go.” He whispered. He stood and kiss her forehead. Then walked out of the room.
“Aziel you punk!” She cussed.
Damn him! For ruining the moment. Just when he was gonna kiss her, she hadn’t even open up fully to him yet. She touched her lips to feel it, softly caressing it with the tip of her finger.
He ruined the moment.
She was already heated and the only person she wanted was Kenzo.
“Aziel!” She half yelled. And flung the pillow at the door.
“Ms. Elina. Your breakfast is downstairs.”
“Go away Buka.”
“Yes. Ms Elina.”
Argh! She groaned and buried her head on the bed.
“The Master specifically asked that you’ve your breakfast right now. Else I might get punished if you ate a minute late.”
“The psychopath.” She cussed.
And stood up from the bed. She opened the door and saw Buka standing by the door.
“I would eat later.” She drawled.
“I can see you hate me Ms. Elina. The master would know. You’ve to join me this instant.”
“Fine.” She rolled her eyes.
And followed him to the dinning area. She came across Sambas approaching them.
He stopped.
“I was coming to wake you up.”
“Let’s have breakfast.”
“You sure need them, there’re gonna be something we had to do anyway. Kinda be stressful for you.”
Elina nods and they continued walking.
Kenzo came cleaned with her that he was part of a secret mafia, was that before he came here. And became part of this. Was that what Ray talked about, that he was once in Italy. Since he could tell her he was a mafia, he could tell her everything couldn’t he?
Some secrets that she desperately wanted to know.
“Are you okay, you seems lost, I’ve talking to you for a while now and I wasn’t getting any response. And you’re ain’t touching your food either.”
“It’s just.. nothing really. What were you talking about.”
“Erm, the master I’m sure he told you beforehand. You’re need to be practicing. How to use your guns. Aim and shot. That’s what we’re gonna be doing today. A little bit of training.”
“Something is happening right? War?”
He chuckled at the sound of war.
“Nothing is happening yet but we’re sure it would soon be. We’re preparing for it. Everyone of us. Don’t wanna be caught unawares.”
“It’s about the election?”
“Yes. As you should know. The master Kenzo needs to win. No.. must win. Hazard doesn’t back down from a fight. Lord Gilbert, he’s still angry with Kenzo. For some personal reasons we don’t know yet. Not for what you did that day but for some other reason we’re yet to put our fingers on.”
“It’s just those two men?”
“No, everyone seems to be against him.”
“Tell me more.”
“The mafia, here, is a circle of ten men...” as he talks he draws a circle on the table with his fingers.
“.. these top three men controls the others Hazard the influencer, lord Gilbert the most powerful and Chief Brennon was on the same tie with lord Gilbert.”
“and these men are against Kenzo, who is the youngest and was once a mafia from Italy. Then came here to join them. He threaten them. Became powerful and was feared.
“And their mission is to kill him. And everyone around him. They ain’t after the election but his life.”
“Bingo! You’re smart.”
She scoffed.
“I didn’t know you were this smart.”
She chuckled.
“It’s wasn’t hard to figure it out.”
“That’s why we need to prepare for it.”
She nods. And stare now at the meal.
Chief Brennon, Kenzo was his son wasn’t he? The son he never should have had.
Was Kenzo?
He won’t be against his own son wouldn’t he?
“We should go.”
“Now. You’ve barely touched your breakfast.”
“Let’s go.”
She pushed the chair backwards and stood up. She pushed her hair backwards and tied them in a ponytail.
“I need this for myself, I’m not doing this because of him, but myself. I don’t wanna be a burden to anyone when the time comes. I would be able to flee.”
“You would run away?”
“Yes.”
She smirked and walked ahead of him.
“Elina! Wait”
Elina, there was something different about her, she was completely changed.
